Gaming / Re: If TLOU isn't one of the best games of all time...
« on: January 31, 2015, 02:16:00 AM »
Your opinion makes me want to vomit.

Good thing I don't give an Alaskan rat's ass about your opinion. I've said it before and I'll say it again, bring something of value to the conversation or leave. It's that simple.

The story isn't anything special and the gameplay is fairly average. If the majority of your experience with narrative is from games I can see how you might think that TLOU is amazing though since video game writing is typically pretty shitty.

It seems you're drinking the kool-aid though so that's likely why people aren't bothering to debate with you. They're almost certain that it will be a fruitless endeavor.

I agree with you on the "video game writing is typically pretty shitty." I don't even know why you would bring that up, though, as I didn't say anywhere in my post that TLOU's best quality is the narrative. The acting is superb, however. By both video game standards and film.

As for the gameplay, the mechanics are fairly average, not the gameplay itself. Two different things.

It's a mix of this, no one being online/on Gaming, and people agreeing with me.

I don't buy a game for good voice acting
The acting is mocap.

and I don't buy a game for average gameplay that doesn't really do anything different.

And that's your prerogative as a consumer. But most games we play today are just evolving what's been done before, and in that respect, TLOU refines what has been done before.

When all you have to offer is average gameplay then it's not worth $60 unless you personally are really into whatever the setting or genre is. I can take a quick look on steam and see hundreds of games that likely have nothing more to offer than fairly average gameplay. My interest in them is nonexistent though because I need something more than that if I'm going to be paying for it.

Spoiler
I didn't even see refinement in TLOU, it was just more of the same for me personally.

To me TLOU is nothing more than a formulaic zombie story with rather average gameplay.

Back stories don't matter in court man. The only place that seems to fly is in Japan.

I'll be setting up the stream now.

First thing to be shown will be Valley of the Wind. After that I might throw on some Last Exile: Ginoku no Fam, Fate Kalied Liner, and whatever else is sitting on my computer at the moment. If people don't mind me streaming a stream I could possibly show other things as well.

If there's no Nausicaa.

They'll be storms

I got it. I've just finished shaving and I'm going to leave to get my hair cut in about ten minutes. Once I'm back I'll start setting up the stream.

EDIT: As a side note. Where were all these suggestions 12 hours ago?

But really
Stream a Ghibli film and we'll talk.

Going to need more than just a "Ghibli film" there's dozens man.
Nausicaa of the valley of the wind

The best one objectively.

it's a cute film. But Nausicaa was his best work, and Kiki

And here I am with Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away being my favorites.

I also need to see Grave of the Fireflies. I've heard it's good.
buy tissues.

That's gross Comet. I'm not that sick in the head.

God help the fans (and DICE) if it launches with the same clusterfucky problems as BF4.
If it's running on frostbite 3, not even god will save them from the cripplingly bad netcode ._.

If EA and DICE fuck this one, then Star Wars games are dead, lets just hope that Episode 7 is good.

It's directed by J.J. Abrams, so I doubt it. He's the M. Night Shyamalan for Sci-Fi.

Stahp, I'm already worried that the leads are going to be shit token characters due to the fact that Abrams has said he's doing diversity for diversities sake.

"The lando system?"
"No, Lando's a black guy. In fact, I think he might be the only black guy in the galaxy!"

I'm not sure what you mean by this. The last time I was concerned about tokenism I was called racist for wanting minorities to be playing actual roles in film instead of cardboard cut outs meant to fill a quota.

It is time my brethren. We must fill this board with legitimate anime discussion while the horde has run off to Anarchy. This way we can avoid being banned and abusing any special privileges we may have.

To start us off I'll be announcing in this thread that I'll be doing an anime stream tomorrow provided nothing comes up.

I'll just throw on whatever I have on my hard drive and take recommendations to put on as well. If you have a recommendation for me to show post it in here. I'll make a list tomorrow of what I'll be showing once all of this is sorted. Maybe even put up a schedule too if there's enough stuff.

ITT: Post shit you want to be streamed. The more recommendations something has the more likely it is that I'll download and stream it.

Only a few hours and I'm already being shipped.

Well Psy and I are being shipped.

At least you're not stuck with a prude. Cracking Psy is going to be harder than infiltrating Fort Knox.
I'm getting shipped with Casper.

Shut up

Well I'm also apparently being shipped with Yutaka. So it could have been worse, they could have shipped you with a mexican.

Trutaka
OssTru
TruCasper
Trsai
Natru
Byrtrue

I've been them all.

So it's like pass the bucket?
it's more wishful thinking that Tru would even agree.

Well the thing about shipping is that it doesn't matter if you agree or have any chemistry with the other person. The fangirls are going to write fan fictions and make fan art about the two of you anyway.
