Q. What kind of matchmaking will be available for classic Brood War? What kind of ladder system will be available? How closely will the menus and matchmaking mimic classic BW? Will the menu and GUI structure simulate classic Brood War?
A. We’re maintaining the Chat Channels and other defining features. We’re giving an aesthetic that mimics what players are used to from the original game if you prefer the old-school style of custom game lobbies and negotiating game terms before hopping into a game. For the sake of modern convenience and an accurate ladder, we are also giving the option of jumping more quickly into a match, with fewer buttons and menus to navigate. More details about the online UI will be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the official website.
So we just gotta wait and see what they show us in the coming weeks.

Probably because they made the map editor damn near impossible to figure out. I do get impressed by what I've seen in the SC2 arcade, but there was a certain magic that those UMS games that people made in Brood War that the games in SC2 don't have.
honestly i think the shit "browser" at launch is what killed it. unlike SC:BW people couldn't host their own games and games were sorted by whatever had been played the most amount of times rather than what was the most recent lobby created

Snap in cover is bad

It messes you up more than it helps, it seems in certain areas
It feels like an autistic version of Mass Effect 1's cover system

You kidding me? Turians look like they got the 343i Elite treatment and that Salarian's facial movements look like they were made by an amateur in GMod or MS Paint. Compare how dead his face is to how expressive Mordin was in ME2
Even the fucking PS1 era CGi in the new Berserk series looks better than this.
Hell, people have legitimately done better shitposting in Source Filmmaker.
mordin was unusually expressive for a salarian, the rest of the salarians in ME1-3 were pretty much on par with andromeda. Turians pretty much look the same as they ever did. if you actually played the preview you'd know about a specific scene with the kett commander that's extremely well done too. it successfully conveys a feeling of confusion when it's trying to mimic the actions of daddio and has no idea what the fuck it is these new aliens did to activate the relic on habitat 7.

So I've played a few hours of the single player now. This game is both really enjoyable and frustrating. It's enjoyable because it really does feel like a new mass effect game and the actual gameplay of it is great. But it's frustrating at the same time because it feels like it's being held back by incompetent people from other parts of the dev team.
If i had to do a break down it would be something like this.
Writing: Meh
Environment artists: A+
Gameplay: Great job
UI: You guys need to go back to school because jesus christ this is thing is a mess
Alien art and animation teams: You guys did pretty good. I like what I've seen so far.
Music: I get you guys were going for an ME 1 vibe, but i really don't dig the music from ME 1
