I was referring to EVE. In Dark Souls you aren't forced to PVP, you can avoid that aspect of the game until you feel you're strong enough and at that point it is your fault if you've lost.

It's the risk bro, when you've got shit on the line everything you do matters that much more. It keeps you on the edge of your seat since one screw up on your part can cost your a hefty chunk of money and resources. castlevania 1 keeps you on the edge throughout the whole game, and it couldn't be any different (or better) than shitty dark souls

You'd hate EVE verby. You lose entire ships and everything equipped to them as well as what's in your cargo hold if you die in PVP. At worst, you only lose your souls when you get invaded and lose anyway, but you lose them so often anyway that it's not that big of a deal. That's a shame I was hoping it was a bit more punishing, I never participated in PVP (never ended up finishing it either) because of aforementioned feeling of tediousness over difficulty. I keep telling myself that I should take another crack at it to see if I'll like it more seeing as how it took me a couple tries to get into Dragon Age. Unlike Minecraft where you spend hours gathering resources, building a house, getting materials... and people STEAL THEM AND BURN YOUR STUFF DOWN!!!
I take that game too serious when that stuff happens and I'm actually committed.
Yeah, that's why I never played on public servers. Only private shit where I knew everybody.

Now I wasn't really a fan of DS due to the fact that I felt it was more tedious than challenging which lead to me being dissapointed in it, but games where you stand to actually lose assets due to losing in PVP should be highly encouraged. It makes the PVP game much more satisfying and worthwhile. Can people grief with that mechanic? Yeah, but that's the risk you take when playing that kind of game and no one is forcing you to play it.
