Real-talk: I think either Bush or Rubio will get the nom.

I don't remember all the names at this point so I'm not sure what to say here.

But out of Rubio if it came down to it, if I was american, I'd be inclined towards Bush.

You can see he's got a hell of a lot more marbles in his head than the previous one in office. Like I said, not sure on the names but I think it was Rubio who seemed warmongery as fuck.

Most of them all did anyway. But one of them stood out like a sore thumb. Not the kind of person you want to put up in office.

WE WILL KILL THE TERRORISTS AND REPEAL EVERY WORD OF OBAMACARE

The point is that blood is shed either way, so acting like veganism is bloodless is silly. Which is exactly what the video in the OP of the thread is doing.
I don't think that's what it's doing at all—was there a specific part in the video that said, "Veganism is bloodless"? I don't remember that, maybe I'll have to watch it again.

But it's a short two minute video designed to get people to consider veganism. That's it. I don't see why it has to cover every little caveat of the choice when it's basically a commercial. You can call it disingenuous or hypocritical, but I just think you're being a petty weasel.

The part where it says that going vegan means you aren't part of a system that kills animals "there are no people animals... victims, or consequences on the second track. What if I told you that this isn't hypothetical?".

Which is just flat out false. Wanting people to be honest isn't petty.

But there was an article run by ABC a few years ago on the subject.
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=97836
"'This is something we've been aware of for a long time,' admits Jack Norris, president of Vegan Outreach in Davis, Calif. . .It's obvious that some animals die when their land is taken away for farming, Norris says, 'but you take it away only once.' It doesn't lead to the continuous slaughter of animals for human consumption, he contends, because once the land is turned into a farm, there aren't that many animals around to kill."

Hmmmmmm.

"Davis admits he doesn't really know how many animals are lost each year to agriculture, but he suspects it runs in the millions."

Millions. Wow. Sure, let's just trust this ONE GUY based on his random, rule of thumb judgment he more than likely pulled out his ass. Who the fuck is this Davis guy? Where's his research? Where's his proof? Where's his evidence? Where's anything?

Into the trash it goes.

Truly calling the person you're conversing with an idiot and telling them to never talk again is the best way of having a civil conversation.
you've shown, time and time again, that you're undeserving of civil conversation

It explains exactly where there isn't a concrete number in the article. Farmers don't take count of whats on their land before and after they start harvesting. Why? Because it doesn't make a difference.

The ABC article also misrepresents his position and the language they use is misleading.

Link to the actual paper where the estimation is that there are 1.8 billion animals killed per year in the US alone during the process of creating the vegan diet.
https://www.morehouse.edu/facstaff/nnobis/papers/Davis-LeastHarm.htm

Jack Norris also fails to mention that animals move back in once the crops grow back. It's a continuous cycle. He completely fails to mention the crop part of it and is only focusing on the untamed land being turned into suitable farmland part.

Having a different opinion than you doesn't make me undeserving of a civil conversation.

EDIT: You're doing that thing again where you get flustered and start posting multiple times in quick succession instead of keeping it all in one post.

You're being pedantic and taking that literally in an effort to defame me. Of course it's greater than a just a few million. Especially when you're thinking on a world wide scale. The point is that blood is shed either way, so acting like veganism is bloodless is silly. Which is exactly what the video in the OP of the thread is doing.

It's just fact that millions of animals are killed every year in the making of the vegan and vegetarian diet. Same with the omnivorous diet. You can't avoid it and trying to claim one or the other is perfect and bloodless/ethically better is just silly.
first of all, let's see some sources

second, you're missing the point that veganism is not just a diet—it's a philosophical position that anyone can take, even if they still consume animal products. it's a simple concession that what you're doing is wrong and makes you a cunt

third, you're somehow implying that the meat industry, which is built around the systemic torture and slaughter of animals, is the same thing as the inadvertent collateral damage that comes as a result of crop harvesting

fourth, you're implying that we can't take measures to make crop harvesting safer for wildlife

fifth, you're an idiot, never post again

If you've ever worked on a farm or known anybody who has you'd know that killing small animals is an unavoidable part of harvesting crops.

But there was an article run by ABC a few years ago on the subject.
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=97836

The subject of this is about veganism as a diet though, so the philosophical part of it doesn't play in. And like, that's just your opinion man.

I'm saying that there are still millions of animals killed every year as a direct result of humans harvesting crops for consumption. Veganism still has blood on its hands. Animals are still killed and displaced as a result of human crop harvesting.

As a side note, calling it torture is a bit much imo, but yeah, opinions.

You can, but it wont be viable for the vast majority of farmers.

Truly calling the person you're conversing with an idiot and telling them to never talk again is the best way of having a civil conversation.

A vegan that gets their food from industrial agriculture has just as much blood on their hands as someone who eats both meat and plant matter though.
Yeah, that's totally not stretching it at all.

you just seem bitter towards vegans, tbh
did you get fucked over by one in a debate or something

I'm not bitter at all and I've never been fucked over by a vegan in a debate ever.

The only way you'll actually be able to avoid a pot and kettle situation is if you're growing your own fruits and vegetables. If you want to go that route then go ahead and do it. More power to you man.

Even when some species of these small animals are just as "intelligent" as the cattle we consume?
Depends on the trade-off we see with how many intelligent animals get killed within each process. And even then there a number of things to consider, such as:

- People already consume crops as well as meat, it's disingenuous to phrase it as a choice between the two.
Well then I guess it's a good thing that no one in here is doing that. A vegan that gets their food from industrial agriculture has just as much blood on their hands as someone who eats both meat and plant matter though.

Unless you're growing your own food you may as well be the pot calling the kettle black.

Quote
- Greater consumption of non-meat foodstuff would probably result in greater investment in things like hydroponics.

"probably"

Hydroponics is just an expensive way to achieve the same result as traditional agriculture with the added benefit of making you feel good. You're a capitalist meta, you should know that hydroponics will never replace traditional agriculture as it'll always be cheaper and thus yield a greater profit.

Quote
- Lesser consumption of meat would probably result in greater investment in synthetic meat.

There's that "probably" again.

An influx of synthetic meat would just make real meat a highly sought after luxury good in the west.

It is pretty funny when people use words incorrectly I agree. I mean, there are people on here that actually think that there are weebs on sep7.

Kind of like when people scream about how terrible and evil 4chan is while happily using all of their memes. That one typically gives me a bit of a chuckle.

that's the literal definition of weeb

No the literal definition of a weeb is someone who's obsessed with Japanese culture to the point of preferring it over their own despite the fact that all of their information on that culture comes from Chinese cartoons and other media.

There are no literal weebs on Sep7.

Updated with details for the Nero event.

Master difficulty caught me off guard, I actually have to plan out how I'm going to fight that final battle now.
Its a pretty easy fight.

On my first run Waver gave jing ke and himself like 12 defense buffs so I was fighting an assassin with the tankiness of Jeanne and no beserker.
And thats why you kill Waver off in one round.

I've found that going Lu bu -> jing ke -> waver works well because waver doesn't do enough damage as a support character to take out your entire team with his defense buffs.

The only way you're taking out waver in one turn is if you're running a BBB or BBR.

I'm running an ASB.
One excaliblast takes care of Lu Bu, then a single buster card takes care of Waver after that, Jin Ke is just another buster card after Waver.

Excalibur doesn't do as much damage as you think it does.
Yes I know, thats why I buff it.
Dual charisma + master buff would only make it hit for around 22k. Waver has 60k without buffs.
I have Ushi's buff, and Saber's other buff to go with it, 4 buffs in total, including a buster chain buff, which I almost always get.

That's because you're running a burst team. I only have one good berserker so that set up isn't viable for me.

ASB is more of a crit/arts hybrid.
I'm running BRS, its not much of a burst team, Saber does more damage than my lancelot.

And how many times have you managed to do this? You'd have to have everything go perfectly up until the last round to get this + land a triple B on the first turn in order to do this. Derping around with arts cards chains in round two will get your lead killed unless you're lucky enough to have the chimera sit around and buff himself for three turns straight.

My string of buffs is much greater than yours and even with the burst chain bonus he'd be sitting at around 6-12k hp. This is with Waver not using the string of damage reduction buffs he likes to throw at himself as well. Even then that's to much remaining hp for you to be able to finish him off with a single burst attack in the next round unless you manage to land a crit, which if you've used a burst chain in the round prior, you wont be getting.

We're also operating under the assumption that attack rating = damage dealt. Which it doesn't.
I've managed to do it perfectly all but one time, which means I took Lu Bu and Waver in one turn each of those times.

So how are you building NP if you're getting 3 burst cards almost every turn?
The first round I take out 2 of the Chimeras, the 3rd I use to build my NP, if thats not enough the 2nd round will give me a chance at another art card, and I rarely ever take a lot of damage to a single servant by the end of it, so once I get to the third round I'm set for a buffed Excaliblast with a buster chain leaving me to only deal with Jin Ke.

Whenever I go through the enemy focuses down one servant at a time, usually Gil -> Lancelot -> Arturia so if I fuck around with trying to build NP Gil will most likely be dead by the end of round 2.
Sucks for you m8. You don't have Zeltrech or Formalcraft CE?

Nope, my library of good CEs is rather thin.

The lives of amphibians, birds, rodents, and other small animals don't matter I guess.
They don't matter as much relative to the usual animals we consume such as pigs and cows, as far as I understand the issue.

Even when some species of these small animals are just as "intelligent" as the cattle we consume?

Some even more so as Velox pointed out with the crow.
