Not really, with the amount of mobility and speed in halo 5 it would actually give you enough time to react. As it stands the radar ends up being a distraction due to the fact that by the time someone is on your radar they're likely already punching you in the face.
I feel like 343 tried the longer range radar somewhere in development and decided it didn't work. That's why I hesitate to agree with you. But like I said, I think it need to be increased a tad.
Their testing was also done by MLG which is why it's so easy to spawn trap on a lot of arena maps. The majority opinion by the playerbase though seems to be that the radar should be put back to the Halo standard.

Radar needs to be put back to 25 it's absolutely worthless as is.
I thought this too but I think 25 is too much. It would remove the element of surprise.

Funny enough the only place you can find decent TES discussion on 4chan is /tgesg/ on /tg/ every weekend.
Not every general is the same dude. Each one is like it's own seperate community. I haven't been in tesg in a while though. Last time I set foot in there was around the launch of skyrim I think.
