I'm about to blow +1k plus on a PC.

Verbatim, stop me!

You'll be playing better quality games and saving money in the long run by paying less for games and not having to pay $60 a year to use the internet you already pay for.

>PS2 for $20 at a flea market

Find me a more cost efficient PC that can run any game at optimal settings.
It's 2016 now. I'm pretty sure that even the most potato of potato PCs these days can run 10+ year old PS2 level games. If you have a decent mobo, you may even be able to run them just by using on-board video. You can also build a PC of comparable or better power to a modern console for roughly the same price.

To address your other point: Unless you were referring to Nintendo, X1/PS4 having "better" games than PC is bullshit and you know it. Most AAA titles these days are multiplatform, and X1/PS4 still don't exactly have any real killer apps as of yet. Sure, Sony has plenty of exclusives, but those are mostly appealing for people who were already fans of Sony. Maybe one or two tops is good enough to justify me spending $300+ on a console, which isn't nearly enough, IMHO. With PC, you effectively get 90% of the same games, a shitload more exclusives, infinitely more longevity (no issues of "backwards compatibility"), and freedom with what you can do with those games (I know you don't like it, but mods are a pretty huge upside to PC gaming.) Not to mention you don't have to pay for XBL/whatever the fuck Sony uses now. The only thing you have to pay to play online is your ISP.

I'm sorry, but PC is just objectively better than X1/PS4. I'm not going to compare Nintendo, because Nintendo is in it's own league and can't really be compared due to it being Nintendo and hosting completely different genres and appealing to completely different demographics than what is typical of other platforms.
I'm gonna have to respond later, but thank you for the substantive response. There's actually some worthy discussion points you brought up, unlike what I've been dealing with in this thread with LC/azu/Batch.

He didn't really say anything different though.

Depends on who's arguing in the thread.

You also won't find a "state of the art" console for less that $20 so I'm not seeing why that matters.
It's called a flea market.

Piracy is a big thing on consoles too
The point is that, on console, you actually have the choice to be a good person and purchase the game. On PC, if you want to play something like LittleBigPlanet or Super Metroid, you're gonna have to pirate the game. There's no choice.

Also considering that the PC makes more revenue from gaming than all of the current gen consoles combined I think it's pretty safe to say that the notion of the PC "having no games" is blatantly false.
It has no games. Everyone who thinks it does just has shit taste.

The burden of proof is on you. I have never seen a modern console for $20 in any sort of second hand shop or market. Saying "there's one for $20 down the street and I won't bring you proof because you can't make me" is tantamount to saying "there's a flying unicorn in my backyard but you can't see him because he's invisible".

If you want to play Stalker, Starcraft, Homeworld, ARMA, EVE, et cetera, et cetera, you have no option to on a console. This means that the PC is superior because I say so and these are games I like are better than the games you like because I don't have to justify myself because I'm always right.

If you like Super Metroid or LittleBigPlanet you have shit taste and therefore consoles have no games. People who own consoles have no legitimate reason to own one.

As you can see the argument of "I don't like X so this means that anyone who likes X is wrong because I say so" is bullshit.

Well considering the minimum specs to run windows 10 are much greater than the hardware the PS2 offers it's not really an imagine and more of a fact. That and if you wanted to play more than just PS2 games you shouldn't have used the PS2 as an example of cost efficiency.
Great--so enjoy your illegal PS2 emulator with your overheating laptop.

I used a PS2 as an example because it's the last thing I bought, so it came to mind.

Obviously, I'm asking for state of the art technology for less than $20, which you will not find.

And you still can't tackle the piracy issue, and the PC-has-no-games issue.

You also won't find a "state of the art" console for less that $20 so I'm not seeing why that matters. Piracy is a big thing on consoles too, so I'm not sure why you're trying to pin it solely on PC. I can open up /v/ or /vg/ right now and have a good chance at seeing people discussing how to pirate on modern and last gen consoles and/or handhelds.

Also considering that the PC makes more revenue from gaming than all of the current gen consoles combined I think it's pretty safe to say that the notion of the PC "having no games" is blatantly false.

Yeah that's what I thought.

I'd imagine that the specs are better than the PS2s as well.
I don't care what you'd imagine. Besides--as if it's just PS2 games I want to play.

I'm not sure what they expected. The biological differences between men and women do matter in some instances and sports is one of them.

2259
Also may I remind you Anita/feminists in general dont and never will have an effect on games so really it doesnt matter.

If they try to then we lynch them till they put it back the way the dev wanted it to. Or put up a more sneaky 'over the shoulder' pose.
Just recently, one of Tracer's victory poses in Overwatch was removed due to feminist outcry, iirc.

Then, of course, there was the whole Killing Joke cover debacle.

It was actually someone from /pol/ shitposting and then various groups latched onto it. Blizzard responded by replacing it with an actual pin up girl pose.

the ark was introduced and destroyed in the same game, can't really have them be on a fully functional ark since they were still mia at the end of 3

It isn't actually destroyed

It's just severely damaged, but being repaired

Anyway, the picture looks like mega bloks. Like, the spartans and scarab and shit look more like toys than character models.

forgot about 343s retcon, regardless it wouldn't look like that if they went back to it in wars 2

IT seemed to be doing pretty fine in Hunters in The Dark when they went back.

iirc the cover art shows the ark broken and shattered in many places
Like I told you, twice

They went back and its more together than it is broken.

SpartanT posted what the Ark is supposed to look like now, and it doesn't look like what's in the OP. As Bacon said though this is probably for a new megablocks set and not HW2.
I'm on about the Arks condition

Not the art

The cover art shows what the Ark looks like now since HotD is when they went back to it. That is the Arks condition unless they've stated otherwise in some random blog post on waypoint.
Yeah, when we were talking in party, you said it was destroyed, I said its still functional (See: Book cover)

Unless, once again, you suddenly mean different.

You might want to take a look at when this thread was originally posted. My original comment was likely made at the same time we started talking about that.

The point after I was corrected is that the Ark shouldn't be 100% ok since the most recent excursion to it still showed it broken in many places. Thus leading credence to Bacons theory that this is instead for a megablocks set.

Should have bought the season pass when it was $30 if you were just going to buy all the DLC anyway tbh. You won't be saving any money now on it cause you've gotten 2 out of the 3 DLCs.

Yes, give it and everyone else up just so you can get some nookie from the town bicycle.
While at the same time having the best end game of the 3 routes while tying it all together with Fate/Zero.

Give a little, gain a little.

Zero was written 2 years after SN and most of the references to what happened during the 4th war were in the Fate route.

HF just has a bunch of fight scenes at the end and nothing much else happens before it. Granted they're good fight scenes, but the story is incredibly slow and bland up until the last three days and even then the character depth is pretty lacking. The only quality ending of HF is "Cherry Blossoms's Dream" and even then it's on par with the other endings in SN.

So having the belief of  "believing in an ideal, holding it close, and trying to achieve it while simultaneously recognizing that you realistically never get everything you want, but that's ok because it's the ideal itself that's beautiful" is retarded.

I still think Shirou's justification for being Archer at the end of UBW is retarded

But he never becomes Archer at the end of UBW.
Not Spirit Emiya, but he still does his whole superhero shtick

It literally spells it out for you right there at the end of Zero.
I forgot he said the line he looked like he saved himself. It's been way too long since I've seen Zero.

I should probably give it a re-watch.

That's a rather iconic scene... I have to wonder if you were paying attention when watching it. Hell, they even revisited it in the UBW adaptation. You know, one of the few points in the adaptation that actually surpassed the original VN.

Question for you, LC. Is Mind of Steel him becoming the Archer you see in UBW? I know some that would say it's not connected at all, but it seems that it sort of goes hand in hand. Especially given the look he gives Illya before he has to leave her.

In Mind of Steel Shirou goes full Kerry and wins the war by killing his opponents under the justification that it's worth it to kill the few in order to save the many.

MoS Shirou is not counter guardian Shirou.
So literally just Batman then

Only Batman would be CG Shirou and not MoS Shirou.

How is it anything like what Kerry did at the end of Zero? Kerry was willing to sacrifice his family and the people he loves to save the most people possible. HF Shirou is willing to sacrifice everyone else for the sake of one person. Kerry would find that mentality to be abhorrent. The Kerry route for Shirou is Mind of Steel.

Heavens Feel doesn't "fix" Shirou, it breaks him in the other direction. UBW is the only route where Shirou comes out somewhat ok mentally.
I meant at the very end. That because he saved one person, he was happy. I am well aware him becoming Archer is Kerry before that.

And I'd say he came out just fine at the end of Heavens Feel. Well... after he got his new body.

I will say that the normal ending or whatever where Sakura grows old waiting for him, was one of the most depressing things I've read.

that's not the same at all... their reasons for being happy are completely different

Shirou sets out to save one person and is willing to sacrifice everything and everyone to achieve it. Kerry sets out to save the world and in a cruel twist of fate loses everyone he loves and gets thousands of innocent people killed as the result. Kerry's happiness is brought about from the fact that he was in the end able to save a single person and thus save himself from being mentally broken as a result of all of the shit he went through. Saving Shirou was Kerry's justification to keep on going after what he had done.

"I remember that face. He had tears in his eyes from finding someone still alive. A man who was happy from the bottom of his heart. He looked so happy that it seemed like it had been him, not me, that had been saved.

And then...

Even though I was on the brink of death, the man was so grateful that it made me jealous. "Thank you", he said. He was glad to have found someone, and that by saving even one person, he had saved himself"

It literally spells it out for you right there at the end of Zero.

I mostly enjoyed F/SN because of the characters, the story was still good but it was the cast and their behaviors that really kept me in. Taking the main hero and turning him into something completely different is fucking stupid. It may have excellent world building compared to the other two routes but you know there's a serious problem when one of the bad ends (Mind of Steel) is better/more legitimate than either of the two "proper" endings. Because at least with MoS Shirou acts like fucking Shirou.

HF is interesting for many a reason. To dump it for that is just silly, as it does play into his character in more ways than one. Plus, it plays like a direct sequel to Fate/Zero, so that's good.
The entire point of that route is to ask him if he would give up everything to save the one person he loves.

It's not so black and white as you're making it. In a way, it's doing exactly what Kiritsugu did at the end, only before he became a little too dark. It's a good read. You shouldn't shut it out simply because of that reason alone. Shirou spouting his super hero stuff got annoying after a while anyway.

Rin points out he's pretty much broken in UBW. Picture HF as the way of fixing him.

How is it anything like what Kerry did at the end of Zero? Kerry was willing to sacrifice his family and the people he loves to save the most people possible. Short novels that are typically paperback only and cost less than your average full length one. Typically they'll contain a couple pages of art in them too.
