The Flood / Re: Dragon Ball Thread (DBS epispde 59)
« on: September 26, 2016, 12:13:34 AM »
Dragonball has always been really dumb.
i mean really dumb by dragonball standards

two years from now, there's gonna be a character who will completely wipe his ass with this beerus thing

and then there'll be a character stronger than that

then stronger than that

then stronger than that

and goku will always find a way to beat him because he's goku--what's the point

no idea, that's be a criticism of the show for a while now

i was kind of hopeful things would change when BoG came out because Goku actually lost for once, but they've turned around and gone down same old path instead of trying something new it looks like

Gaming / Re: So this is the power of VR...
« on: September 25, 2016, 11:28:12 PM »
As someone who has actually played around with VR I don't think it's ready for actual gaming. At the moment it's little more than an expensive gimmick.

One of the big issues for me is that the VR headset (I used the HTC Vive for reference) isn't wireless. This makes me cautious when it comes to moving around because I don't  want to trip over the damn cord when the game wants me to get wagglin with parts of my body that aren't my head and hands.

i agree partially that games where you have to stand and move your body around dont work that well, the other problem is the huge bandwidth needed to send the tracking data from the headset as well as video through the headset from the machine still has too much latency for vr

but for simulator games where youre sitting with sim controls its perfect

also doesnt the vive have chaperone so you can see the cable, not the best solution but better than nothing

I could see my "safe box", but not the cable.

"At a greatly suppressed level of power, Beerus completely dominates Super Saiyan 3 Goku in battle, rendering him unconscious with just a light chop to the neck and leaving him barely breathing."

sigh

at what point do you just say "all right this is getting really dumb"

Dragonball has always been really dumb.

There's nothing inherently wrong with having a dissenting opinion. Someone can very well have a dissenting opinion that's worth listening to.
Yeah, all of mine.

Sure

Jono you really shouldn't even give his opinions the time of day.
Yeah, dissenting thought is scary--especially for Halo fans. Tut tut, Jono, you should know this.

Don't know if anyone here cares, but apparently this update installs a rootkit into your machine.

Which basically means Capcom just made a fat backdoor into it that'll probably be exploited by hackers sometime in the future.

if it wasn't for being able to massflag videos and moderate other peoples comment sections i'd be fine with it

that's just going to be abused by people who don't want to see opinions that they don't like

its shit tbh fam

just want to chime in on the fat character thing with something

the reason you see fat men like gragas as characters more than fat women is because fat men are generally seen as something funny to be laughed at and portraying a fat woman is generally seen as mean spirited on the part of the author/developer/whatever

until this changes you're going to be seeing a lot more fat men in vidya than you are fat women

« on: September 21, 2016, 08:40:06 PM »
I'm not sure if CoD really works as an answer, seeing as it's a franchise and not a specific game. Unless you're putting forth Finest Hour, which wasn't in this decade.

it might as well all be one game

i assumed you were talking about 2000-2010 though cause it would be kind of silly to name a game of the decade for 2010-2020 when this decade still has a little over 3 years left in it still.

i'm willing to use bullets instead of x's for multiplication

Sounds like a US school to me.

Are you saying that Australia continues to use the X outside of primary school?

Well I mean the US does still use the fucking imperial system so trusting them with anything maths or science related is pretty risky.

the US uses both imperial and metric

what if isara is actually female, but told everyone she was male so certain people would leave her alone?
Yeah it must've been hell with all those harassing messages and posts sent her way.

might have been annoying to have the same few people constantly asking her for titts

I wasn't aware of that, could I say that Battlefield popularized it? And looking back on it, if Call of Duty's negative impact stems from its yearly releases, EA was doing that with sports titles long before.

Now that I'm thinking about it, the industry has been dying for a while now....

Actually it was Rockstar that started that with L.A. Noir.

The low quality copy pasting quality of COD is an issue, but a bigger thing for me is how it's made everyone try to follow their success by dumbing down their games and chasing the casual audience that needs a constant stream of positive reinforcement and instant gratification to keep them playing. It also set the standard of more time playing = more power where as before mp games were focused on better skill = better player.

tl;dr not only did it kill the arena shooter, but it killed a lot of the depth and complexity games had before they started to chase the big numbers and catering to the lowest common denominator.

Thankfully however people are starting to get tired of how little depth there is in modern AAA titles so games like Darksouls are starting to get a lot of attention.

I'd argue Battlefield over Call of Duty since it started the season pass trend.

Why is it, whenI had a little break from this place and went to 4chan for a while, then came back.....does this place seem ever more like 4chan?

Did I just pick a convenient time to migrate?
a few of our more prominent memesters are 4chan users or have been heavily influenced by 4chan culture, so it seeps into the overall culture of Sep7.

It's only to be expected, since 4chan is producing a good portion of the cultural capital on the internet these days.
Because it's an anonymous messaging board. There's no ego or reputation, there's no bullshit. It's literally just say whatever you want.

you haven't been there long enough if you think there's no ego or reputation
You can't really have a reputation unless you're autistic enough to write in the same name every time you post in which case well, you're autistic.
why is that autistic
Because you have your thread specific ID already, writing in a name is just autistic. Look at a few /pol/ threads, you'll see what I mean.
Not all boards use thread-specific IDs, though. I think that's kind of a new practice, and only for a select few boards.

I don't use 4chan though.
But that's what I mean, to write in a name on a board that uses thread specific ID's is just autistic.

I'm mostly really talking about /pol/.

/pol/ is already autistic

nope, people become recognized due to posting styles. they don't have actual names but people will start calling them things like melvin and jetfag

this is more common on smaller boards though
