Two years ago I would have been all over this.
Meat grinders are pretty easy to break. All you need is a coordinated squad to flank.
The entire game is a meat grinder when compared to what it once was.
It was always a meat grinder. Either farm or be farmed. Such is the way of PS2. It is always important to learn which outfits to go after and which to avoid, and where the zergs are and aren't. PS2 is incredibly fun when you learn to pick your battles.
PS2 used to allow for tactics and strategy to win out over pure numbers by giving players the freedom to chose where and when they wanted to take something and how they were going to take it. Now you're shepherded down a linear path for the sake of creating constant big battles. The trailers they put out that said "this is communication from real PS2 players" is practically false advertising now. If you think it was always a constant meat grinder it's because you were canon fodder for the people actually winning the continents and alerts. The lattice update killed an entire side of the game that you were apparently unaware of, and no I'm not talking about ghost capping (which wasn't even really a problem on populated continents).
