Gaming / Game fatigue...
« on: March 29, 2015, 12:52:11 PM »
Basically feeling a been there, done that. Halo? Been playing it for 13 years. Only so much of the MCC I can play before I get bored, plus the old group of friends no longer plays. Far Cry 4? I'm almost done with it and lost interest. Tired of FPS in general. I feel like I'll never be exited for a game as I was for Halo 2 and 3. Anyone else feel this way? I want to get a Wii U but don't feel like shelling out the $300.

Gaming / F2P Halo game announced (but for Russia only) Suka!
« on: March 25, 2015, 01:04:27 PM »
Well this came out of nowhere!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/03/25/halo-online-is-a-free-to-play-pc-shooter-coming-only-to-russia?abthid=5512f7da3927945760000018

edit- Okay, I got a little bit too excited. It's for the Ruskies only. Still interested to see what it looks like.

Most likely it will be sub-par, it is free to play after all. Is this a growing trend in the industry? Take a well established franchise, and then make a F2P multiplayer only game? Guess so. China has COD Online.

What do you think? Talking out his ass again? In an interview months ago he said he was going to be the main protagonist of Guardians, remember? So maybe we should take this with a grain of salt. Also he says Locke will be featured in the next few Halo game entries.

The Flood / Tired of the single life
« on: March 20, 2015, 08:45:42 AM »
Single for three years, on and off dating sites since then. Thought I would have my time for a serious relationship in college or maybe some sexual experience, but it breezed by and that didn't happen. I work with a bunch of 18 year-olds in retail, but there's no way I'd be interested in someone five years younger. Trying to date someone from online is like pulling teeth, so I deleted both my accounts from two different sites. Last date I went on was a year ago, and the one before that another entire year. I'd like to think that two people just meet naturally or randomly in a social setting, but that has never happened to me. It happened to my friend junior year of college, a girl he didn't even know approached him and now they've been together for over two years. Why can't that shit happen to me? Latest girl I met online said I was too inexperienced for her at my age and we never even ended up meeting. Catch 22.

Gaming / Lego Jurassic World Trailer
« on: March 16, 2015, 09:46:04 AM »
YouTube

This looks too good to pass up for me being a huge JP fan since I was a child. I've never purchased a LEGO game before, but this will be my first one.

You can play as Dinosaurs, and over one hundred characters across the films, including Mr. DNA. Sound effects and dialogue ripped from the movies also adds to the authenticity.

Gameinformer also reports that you can create your own hybrids:

"Each of the game’s levels contains a hidden chunk of amber. As expected, they contain prehistoric insect bloodsuckers, which have fragments of dino DNA in their little bellies. Collect enough of one type, and you can reconstruct that dinosaur. You can then populate your island hubs with the critters, and you can mix and match elements from the 20 types to create your own monstrosity. Taylor says there are more than 1,000 combinations, not including color and skin-pattern variations. From what we’ve seen of the film Jurassic World, messing around with various species is a fantastic idea, and nothing bad could possibly arise from that."

The game will include five levels from each of the four movies, and also two hub worlds.

The Flood / How do I handle this woman?
« on: March 09, 2015, 11:05:07 AM »
Yes, from a stupid dating site. Not sure how to handle what she wants. She's two years older and got out of a five year relationship. She was engaged actually... At first I thought she wanted something serious, her profile said looking for a relationship. Turns out...she doesn't. She wants to have fun, physically. She's been sexting me for two nights and said she masturbated to me. And said I was cute. But doesn't want to meet in person yet. She wants to use me to get over her ex. Thoughts? I'm excited about it if it actually ends up happening. She is a horny freak who's had her heart broken and I said she could take advantage of me, but I still want to play my cards right and not screw up. We both don't want the conventional relationship with all the bullshit. But there's also the possibility that she's just stringing me along to get some attention.

The Flood / How do I stop my porn addiction?
« on: March 06, 2015, 10:38:14 AM »
No matter how many times I try, I cannot. Once I delete my folder and saved links it isn't too long before a new one is created. And the internet just makes it too convenient. Smart phone as well. I can just lie in bed and instantly access it. I am dependent on it. I can't remember the last time I went an entire week with out it. It's not healthy to even search it every day. I try to justify it by reasoning that it is a way to relieve stress, or to replace not having a girlfriend, but it is wasting too much time in my life. I feel like there has to be something else I can do in its place whenever I get the urge.

Gaming / #IDARB is probably the best Indie title on X1
« on: March 05, 2015, 10:44:42 AM »
Easily the best part of the entire game is the announcer and what he says after a goal is scored. The phrases are references to movies, gaming, sports, pop culture in general, etc...

Two that I can remember hearing are, "Forget about it Jake, it's Chinatown!" referencing the movie Chinatown, and "Don't look at it Miriam!" referencing the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy and Miriam have to look away from the Ark opening. I couldn't help but laugh when I heard those. Anyone else try this 16-bit gem? It's pretty much Pong, but controlling a character.

The Flood / What should I read next? (sci-fi)
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:35:53 PM »
Once I finish The Martian, I'm not sure. I'm torn between three choices: Isaac Asimov's Foundation (but then I would have to read the rest of the series), Ringworld by Larry Niven, or 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke, which was my grandfather's movie tie-in edition that I have on my shelf. Thoughts?

So this happened last night when I was attempting Metropolis on Legendary. This was also the most frustrating part of the level, as I'm sure most of you know. There are about a dozen Jackal snipers that keep running up to the platforms, and there always seems to be one that you miss. So after dozens of tries I resulted to plan B: Steal the hog from Stacker and gun it to the next area, still took a few tries. I tried to have him get on the Gauss turret, but it seems he was only able to after a particle beam perceived my cranium and my body tumbled out of the vehicle. Thankfully I was treated to this gem of Marine wisdom. Really makes you think of how much effort Bungie put into the dialogue. This was with the IWHBYD skull active of course.

"Decapitate their heads and brush their teeth for them! Make sure they floss!"

The Flood / You've Got A Problem
« on: February 22, 2015, 09:53:25 PM »
My pathetic true story of two months of movie addiction. What else is someone with no girlfriend or social life working an un-fulfilling job supposed to do? Burn two hours of your life away everyday and hopefully have a few laughs along the way. There's some great films, and some that I wasted some time on (but still had nothing better to anyways). The purpose of this is to provide anyone who's even bothering to read this some lesser known films to watch that are still worthwhile. My current movie count is 42 since this year started.

It started with watching The Truman Show starring Jim Carrey and Ed Harris on New Year's Eve. Truly a hidden gem if there ever was one, but is sadly no longer on Netflix. Basically this film is about a man, Truman Burbank (Carrey), who's whole life is a lie. He is an insurance salesman with a pretty wife in a quiet suburban neighborhood. I'm not going to spoil this movie because when the revelation hits you it makes you think of your own life; particularly if you ever felt trapped or things were out of your control. My verdict: 5/5

The next movie I saw was Witness. It's a 1985 crime drama starring Harrison Ford-- with a twist. When Detective John Book gets caught up in a murder conspiracy and is wounded, he must take shelter in an Amish community and also protect the sole witness. This comes highly recommended, and I have never even heard of it before Netflix recommended it to me. Great acting, and shows how people from different backgrounds might have more in common than you would think. My verdict: 5/5

I was in the mood for more Ford, so I watched the exceptional 90's thriller The Fugitive. After being wrongly convicted for his wife's murder, Dr. Richard Kimble must prove his innocence. Also Tommy Lee Jones plays a great no-nonsense US Deputy Marshall named Samuel Gerad who will stop at nothing to bring Kimble in. Another great suspenseful crime thriller to watch on a bored Saturday afternoon. My verdict: 5/5

Next I wanted to laugh a bit. I found out about Galaxy Quest. If you liked Spaceballs you will enjoy this to put it simply. It stars Sigourney Weaver and Tim Allen and spoofs Star Trek and sci-fi conventions and fandom. My verdict: 5/5.

Christian Bale? A movie like the Matrix, John Woo, and Orwell's 1984 had a baby? That's Equilibrium which is currently on Netflix. In a future dystopian society, art, music, and anything that makes you feel is banned. And like 1984, the masses are on opiates to keep them in line. Great action and though provoking. Great unknown film worth watching if you liked the Matrix. My verdict 4/5.

One liners? Check. Gruesome deaths? Check. Arnold Schwarzenegger? Ja. 1987's The Running Man is a great satire based on a novel by Stephen King. In yet another dystopian future, contestants on the show The Running Man run from Stalkers who try to kill them. My verdict: 5/5.

Will continue to write this later. I'm bored.
