It's one of those movies that someone basically has to tell you why to like it. I saw it when I was about 15 and never thought about it again. I was planning on watching it again but haven't had much will to tbh for all the reasons you mentioned. I think it's mostly due to the fact that some of the elements like the effects and themes were revolutionary at the time but it's so common in 2017, that it's not enough for a lacking story to piggy back off of (Ghost in the Shell) anymore.

Every community is going to have its inside jokes, but that doesn't make it hard to integrate to it.
The problem is (and I really hate that I'm saying it) is toxicity. Now when I say that I don't mean that this entire forum is tearing itself apart. But there are sometimes where we (including myself) enjoy putting a bullseye on one member or two and then just hazing the shit out of them.
Sometimes the targeted person earns it, like Split-Dick, other times there isn't one and we all end up taking pot shots at one another until something sticks. Regardless, it isn't a welcoming sight.
Everyone knows eachother so well here it's hard for new members to become part of the community. This is how I felt last year when trying to rejoin sapphire, there were so many inside jokes etc I felt it was too much effort to try and integrate. We need more peeps thoooo I'm rating this forum toxisity UA (under average).
It was really bad around late 2015, early 2016 iirc. But it's gotten a lot better since then. A lot of the bad users have either stopped coming here or mellowed out it seems. I think we lost a lot of users because of it though.

Here's the dictionary definition of a terrorist:
a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. So an assassin couldn't really be called a terrorist by this definition and I don't think there's anything wrong with the definition.
The only reason so many people are so concerned with whether or not he's a "terrorist", is because of his race (of course).
Is Islam / The Quran political? Is religion political?
Yes it absolutely is, but regardless of religion, when someone decides kill people, taking inspiration from their religion, their actions are definitely political.

I agree that I could've worded it more carefully, but I don't think it's misleading. I didn't even consider the possible confusion until he pointed it out and didn't intend anything by it. I seriously hope no one thinks I meant to portray this dude as a supremacist.
I only mentioned the nationality in response to the Twitter guy bringing it up first. We live in a time where any one of these events is followed by a hunt to find out who the perpetrator is because of the current debate on migration and terrorism, so I think it's fair to point out the background of these people. Just like how we should be honest about immigrants committing crimes, we should also counteract the narrative of scapegoating foreigners when we have nationals doing the same thing.
And I just used the word national again without thinking about it. What word would be better?
Fair enough. I wasn't trying to be pedantic, I just genuinely thought you knew something I didn't at first. Maybe "a white, American national" wouldn't evoke the thought of white nationalism.
