It's all pretty much the same when it comes to America. If you're white you're white, you're not 1% this 7% that you're just a white American. Obviously you're not all from the same countries but it doesn't really matter in America. A white American is pretty much anybody whose ancestors were European. You're missing the point of my post intentionally and I'm not sure why.

Oh, okay. Yeah, it's not really like that here. That's why I was asking. There's a huge difference in general behaviour and culture from people who's ancestors were from the United Kingdom or Germany, and say, Italy or Spain. So despite the fact that they all have white skin, they don't really posses many similarities beyond that. It just doesn't make sense to clump a bunch of people together like that.
Yeah America isn't like that.
I find that really hard to believe.
Bugerclap here: aside from maybe first-generation immigrants, everything he said was accurate.

Yeah I don’t really know what to think of this. I wish Kendrick would at least issue an apology for putting her in this situation.

Not really.

Man it must really suck to watch a movie with your family. I'm praying for you.
Family as in my cousin and brother that I see movies with nearly bi-weekly. I wouldn't really consider being quiet and staring at a screen to be much of a sentimental bonding experience, regardless.

I think your /pol/-inspired personality is what bothers some people but I'm not here to tell you how you should be posting on a backwater forum. If you're not enjoying it here anymore then might as well leave.

i see what youre saying but battle royale is just a different game mode, not a gameplay or mechanical change. in the case of bo4 it will likely take the place of a traditional campaign.
If they made a Battle Royale mode with typical CoD gameplay mechanics, it would just be a camping-fest.
Yeah but the circle kind of eliminates that.  Otherwise youd have the same situation with all of them.
No because in battle royale, you have the incentive to move in order to get weapons, ammo, shields, materials, etc. CoD's gameplay completely mitigates this by having loadouts, regenerative health, two weapon slots, balanced weapons, etc. If they had typical BR maps with clusters of buildings and long stretches of fields, then people with long-range weapons would just get punished when they go to the buildings, and people with short-range weapons would get punished when they leave them. Also there's the fact that simply spotting someone first is usually the determining factor of who will win in a gunfight in CoD. The fact is these gameplay mechanics were specifically designed for these specific types of gameplay and they're not interchangeable.

The Flood / Ranking MCU capeshit
« on: May 10, 2018, 01:46:33 AM »
We always do this for Star Wars, but never for Disney's other soulless cashcow. Let's begin:

18. Doctor Strange (2016)
This one is easily my least favorite. Because as the 14th entry in the series, it takes all the criticisms about the franchise and doesn't even try to subvert them. Boring, minimalist plot ✓. Forgettable, wasted villain ✓. McGuffin plot device ✓. Female lead that adds nothing to the story ✓. And the humor was the most shoe-horned and unfunny in the entire franchise.

17. Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Generally agreed to be a franchise low. This is the first movie I walked out of thinking they didn't even try.

16. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
I think I lost interest and quit paying attention at some point during the third act.

15. Thor (2011)
Out of all the movies in the series, this is the one that comes closest to not working for me. Nothing in this movie feels earned, including Thor's character growth and falling in love with Natalie Portman. Also the movie takes itself way too seriously with this grandiose sense and everybody overacting.

14. Iron Man 3 (2013)
This movie would probably be terrible without RDJ. I appreciate that Black didn't just want Tony to fight another guy in a robot suit, but the fire people plot and Guy Pearce's character were pretty dumb. I also like how the ending is completely ignored in other movies.

13. Iron Man 2 (2010)
A lot of people point to this one when talking about the worst MCU movies, but I think it's fine... I get all the criticisms it gets but I think they make it work better than people give the movie credit for.

12. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
I think more people need to give this one a rewatch. If not for Black Panther, I would say it is easily the most overrated movie in the franchise. The entire Asgard storyline fell flat for me and the Sakaar one wasn't much better. Still was pretty funny and well acted with some interesting new characters.

11. Ant Man (2015)
I had a good time with this one. The humor works because they were smart enough to make the stakes low. Paul Rudd was a good choice for this type of character they were going for.

10. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Also pretty overrated. I liked it and was surprised by it, but sometimes I feel like people are watching a different movie than me when talking about this.

9. Black Panther (2018)
Decent origin story and I respect that it doesn't go the route of "ebin comedy movie because we don't have faith in the story". Fuck everyone that says it's the best though.

8. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Same as above. I liked the respect for the character and it works well tonally compared to other phase one movies.

7. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
I guess I liked this more than most people. Ultron was weak and I don't like the way Joss basically writes every character the same way except for Steve. Still thought all the moments with the team together were gold.

6. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Same as Ant Man. I thought this was the funniest in the franchise and they nailed the character imo. Vulture was also a good villain. Probably better than Loki.

5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
I've been told I have this one too low on my list, but at the end of the day it just feels like another phase two filler movie. Still is pretty much the best filler movie it can be.

4. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
I loved this movie when I first saw it but the story is kind of weak and the villain's plan is convoluted and nonsensical. I still feel like the Russo's direction and tone really elevate it and the way they juggle all the characters so well was a surprise. It still feels like they were holding back, and after watching IW, the movie lacks much consequence.

3. Iron Man (2008)
Probably the best in terms of structure and tone. This was a time before they had to worry about franchise building and whatnot so we just got a really solid origin story and nothing else.

2. The Avengers (2012)
I mainly rank this so high because everyone said it would be impossible, and they made it look easy. Joss's dialogue kind of bothers me and it was the first movie to start messing with the tone but these are mostly nitpicks.

1. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
I knew this was my favorite right after I saw it and still think it is. They said they were going to deliver on 10 years of build up and they really did. It honestly feels like they setup all these characters and movies just to reach this point where they could have a clusterfuck of characters fight Thanos like in the comics.

Didn't include Hulk because I don't think I've seen it since 2008.

Spoiler
As for the sequel, I'm not too familiar with Thanos in the comics but I'm hoping he's no longer the villain. It seems like his goal is complete and the stones lost some of their power. Maybe they'll introduce some rival or larger conflict...who knows. I even suspected Scarlet Witch of becoming the villain at the end of infinity war.
Ik in the latter portion of infinity gauntlet and its sequels, Thanos has a prominent role but not really as the villain. I agree with you and was thinking the same thing, but at the end of the day, it’s still the MCU and I’m not expecting anything super complex.

I’d argue that you don’t really need to see any of them as the plot from any previous movie doesn’t directly tie into this one. Ragnarok might be good so you can understand what’s going on with Thor, Loki, Hulk, and Banner but based on what I know about your movie preferences, you probably won’t like it.

edit: ok nvm

At least Warner Bros. is taking risks which is more than what you can say about Marvel.
Genuinely can't comprehend this argument. DC movies are only risks in the sense that they throw $300 million at a shit script and then go in and fuck them up further in post production.

Ngl saw the news headline as "Naked man attacks Waffle House" and burst out laughing up until I read the details.

Even if he did have "just mental issues" and his guns were taken away from him before (though the BBC states they were handed to his father, and the AR-15 was one of those originally taken from him), why is that ok?

People with mental issues shouldn't have access to firearms until they can prove they're sane enough to use them, it shouldn't be the other way around, i.e. "give them guns and the ones who fuck up get them taken away".
I’m pretty sure these issues usually don’t develop until later in life. It appears that he had never actually been diagnosed with anything.

Iirc shit like schizophrenia isn't obvious until the 19-20 range, though that figure is a bit rusty.  Aren't guns sold to people at 18+ in the States or is that just wishful thinking?

If it isn't clarified that the guy stole his gun back from his Dad somehow, then he's also fucked in this scenario.
It depends on the area but generally at least 18. And I think I read that the dad just gave them back.

You’re not wrong but that doesn’t render fan criticism meaningless just because we’re going to see it anyway. The studio is clearly listening and changes their movies accordingly. If we had decided we were complacent with the Schumacher movies, we would have never gotten then Nolan trilogy, for instance.

I’m just going to say it, this movie looks bad. Everybody seems to be amped over it but the promotional material just makes it look super derivative and bland. Hope I’m wrong though, I’m mostly a big fan of this franchise and the Russo’s movies in particular.

You should genuinely consider switching your sources for this kind of information. Almost everything in the OP is heavily speculative or straight up false. I would probably think this thread was satire if I didn't know any better.

4 died
He was a white conservative (he even tried to force a meeting with Trump)
The AR-15 in question was legally acquired

What isn’t factual? What is misleading?

That the AR-15 is the go-to for mass shootings?
We know that he trespassed on restricted White House property because he wanted to see the president. Anything beyond that is speculative. The stunt got his weapons and firearm identification taken away, so not really “legally acquired”.

This whole effort from both sides to characterize every mass shooter as their political opponents is pretty selfish. It’s as bad here as it is when I see people trying to say he’s a converted Muslim and registered Democrat with no basis. It seems like he had some type of schizophrenia, considering his paranoid delusisions.

Also semi automatic handguns still are used more than ARs when it comes to different shootings (although recent, devestating attacks have used an AR).
