The Flood / Re: We really need new members
« on: November 29, 2015, 11:42:47 PM »
I think we've squeezed out about all of the new members we'll be able to get from bnet and related communities. It's not like there's any incentive to take residence here if you're not from there. It'd be hard to create a climate that is welcoming to new members without making the off topic forum filled with generic and pointless threads. The gaming forum would be made better by discouraging "Mega Threads" and mods constantly merging threads seriously needs to stop.

The Flood / Re: Anyone else tired of cinematic shared universes?
« on: November 29, 2015, 08:30:20 PM »
Dreams of making an expansive movie universe tend to come with an inability to make any actual good movies (Amazing Spider-Man 2, Fan4stic, Dracula Untold, etc) which cause these plans to implode. The only ones that I would expect to catch on would be Star Wars, DC, and the continuation of Marvel due to guaranteed hundreds of millions for each installment. And if the movies are generally pretty decent then there's literally no reason to bitch.
Amazing Spider-man nor Failtastic poor were apart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Yeh but they were planning on making expansive Sony and Fox Marvel Universes after them.

The Flood / Re: how do you feel about tattoos
« on: November 29, 2015, 03:05:35 PM »
It's not so much the idea of tattoos are tacky, but the implementation usually is. A basic shoulder or side tat, looks really bad imo but tribal tats on mma fighters look cool. Also tattoos don't look good on people who are out of shape.

The Flood / Re: Is book Stannis gonna die soon
« on: November 23, 2015, 10:30:57 AM »
GRRM has already told the showrunners how the story ends so he can't be that important in the grand scheme of things.
Season 5 had maybe five scenes that were accurate to the source material. Using it to predict what will happen in the books is kind of redundant at this point.

That being said, I still wouldn't count on Stannis surviving the series, but it seems like he has the upper hand in the Battle of Winterfell and I doubt he's going to randomly decide to burn his daughter.

An environment that suppresses creativity and rewards regurgitating information.
I've never heard anyone intelligent whining about this.

Serious / Re: SQM: Is committing crime okay if you can get away with it?
« on: November 23, 2015, 09:57:18 AM »
The only one I feel bad for committing is piracy, because it's not a victimless crime.

Well the thing with digital piracy is that it doesn't equate to lost sales because you can not guarantee that the person who pirated would have even bought it in the first place. The owner also is not losing inventory due to the fact that digital goods do not take up inventory and there are an infinite amount of copies of it that cost nothing for the owner to keep.

In some cases (usually with music) piracy can end up leading to increased sales and notoriety due to more people being exposed to the product than they would be otherwise.

Digital piracy is not a black and white issue. I'm not saying it should be legal, but it isn't the great Satan certain people and parts of various industries would like to have you believe .
I realize there's no perfect way to sell media products, but piracy is still theft and I don't have the "lol who cares" mentality when doing it and try to keep it to a minimum.

You need to put down the bottle because that is only going to make things worse.
This. Alcohol is a depressant. It might help you deal briefly, but in the long run, it will just keep you unmotivated and self-loathing. Quit now before it becomes a serious problem.

The Flood / Re: What kind of Ligtsaber dueling do you want in SW: TFA?
« on: November 23, 2015, 12:58:04 AM »
Episode IV's fight was pretty weak admittedly, but Empire and Return had some great choreography that will always hold up. I don't think that lots of choreography and moving around from place to place, destroying as much shit as possible can really be considered a better fight sequence. I do think the prequel fights were good for those movies, but if they're going for a more serious sequel in TFA, then the more serious fight scenes would obviously make more sense.

No one expects the Trump to get stumped all at once, but eventually Republicant voters will have to realize that Trump or Carson would be inept in the position and have to shift their support over to Rubio and Cruz.
