Serious / Re: "White Privilege, Explained in One Simple Comic"
« on: February 22, 2016, 11:04:21 PM »
I feel like there is a disconnect between what some of you interpret "white privilege" to be and what most other people think it means. If white privilege is all about the cycle of poverty that African American families disproportionately face, then what is male privilege? I got the impression that most people think it means white skin magically makes life easier due to an intrinsically racist society or something.

The difference being, "every comic movie out" usually aren't completely trash in their execution. Say what you will about capeshit, but The Winter Solider? Guardians of the Galaxy? Quality movies. We haven't had a truly bad comic book movie since... Iron Man 3?

I've never seen anyone pull any kind of "card" for a non-legitimate reason, tbh. Well, okay, maybe not never, but the vast majority of these kinds of claims are really just strawmen.
Charlie made an entire thread doing it last night. Seems pretty common to me.
Like I said, perfectly legitimate reasons

Not my fault you have underlying racist ideals, bruh
You're part of the problem.

And if you're interested in animation, check out Young Justice. It's probably the best comic based cartoon ever.

If it means his support goes to Rubio or Kasich and puts someone one step closer to passing Trump, I'll take it.

No. Watch Jessica Jones instead.

Racism doesn't exist in America in any capacity that it keeps the African American community down.

It was a very average war-flick. Paper-thin characters, fairly basic plot, plenty of cliches. I expected more from Eastwood, who has a pretty solid track-record. Couldn't believe it got nominated for Best Picture.

You sound like an edgy mother fucker. If you get any matches, you can assume it's because they decided not to read that wall of garbage (and I only made it to the fourth paragraph).

I'm not really sure what you guys were expecting if you were familiar with the character prior to seeing the movie.

I had pretty low expectations and the movie definitely exceeded them for me. Reynolds killed it in the role, possibly the best comic book character adaptation I've ever seen. I appreciated most of the humor. As a spin-off movie about a comic relief character, it worked surprisingly well. It was as good as a Deadpool movie could possibly be.

I dunno how excited I am for a sequel. I think I'd rather see a Cable movie with Deadpool rather than another Deadpool movie with Cable.
Because Deadpool's character in and of itself is shit.

Why is this hard to understand.
And so you decide to go see the movie opening weekend?
