The Flood / Re: Should Superman kill?
« on: June 18, 2017, 01:02:59 AM »
The "No Kill Rule" is starting to get blown a bit out of proportion since TDK. It makes sense for Batman because of his parents and because he's usually just fighting street thugs, relatively speaking. There are moments in the movies where Captain America and Wonder Woman are clearly murdering people and it doesn't really stand out of place, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for Superman.

The Flood / Re: can blacks be racist?
« on: June 18, 2017, 12:50:16 AM »
Sounds like some Sapphire bullshit to me.
The first time I heard about this was from Jaythenerdkid, ironically when the most powerful person in America was black.

Now I see it on twitter all the time and it seems like a lazy way to undercut any racist comments made by minorities.

a single individual having power when he happens to be black does not give blacks power
Saying that an entire race "doesn't have power" would imply that there are institutions in place which try to keep minorities impoverished when literally the opposite is the case. Everybody has the same potential to gain power, regardless of race. Acting like whites hold all the power because there are more white politicians and judges in majority white countries is just mindless. "Disadvantaged" would be a much more apt description.

Because Zsasz is just a generic mob guy in the movie who only puts tally marks on himself to appear insane, not a serial killer like in the comics.

I don't see anything else coming out before September that can seriously take its spot.
Trans5mers is coming out next week.

I wonder if they'll try to sweep this one under the rug like Dracula Untold, or just keep going.

Maverick agreeing with you shows that you're wrong.

No shame in that.
Your desperate attempts to try to create some kind of internet feud with me just gets sadder every time.

Pretty much impossible to say without some kind of research but I'd speculate entertainment has more of a subconscious influence.

Also what's your opinion of Creatine?
Not as knowledgeable as OP but it's generally considered one of the most worthwhile supplements. I just started using it earlier this year and I've been seeing some significant strength gains.

I was doing it for a little bit but i didnt drink enough water for it. also that stuff is REALLY bad for your kidneys. i stopped bc my family has a history with PKD
That's probably smart. I wouldn't say it's an essential supplement. Just speeds up progress.

Nope he should stay in power until he dies and then Donald Trump Jr. can take over.

May fucked up about as badly as Ben Carson saying he'd be okay with bombing civilians in Syria.
I thought I was the only one that caught that.

Gus Fring: a man who entered the drug business solely to get revenge on those who massacred his lover, but quickly became the monster he had to become to stay afloat in that world. As a contrast to Walter who did it all for himself, Gus literally did it for his (only) family.

Anton Chigurh: A force of nature whose role in the story goes beyond basic antagonism and more resembles an inevitable reckoning. Barely a character at all, actually, beyond his physical traits - he's literally an agent of fate. When he violates his purpose near the end of the film and kills Carla Jean out of his own volition, the cosmos punish him for it and take him out of commission.

Meanwhile, the Joker is every bit as 2-D as I said. You just admitted it too, by trying to break down other characters instead of doing what I just did and defended your own.
Not really. I'm just not understanding these criticisms you're attributing to the Joker, that other characters are omitted from. The Joker is usually given a somewhat tragic upbringing as well, such as the loss of his wife or something driving him to insanity, compared to Batman, who lost his parents. In the same way Chigurh is barely a character, the Joker is the same in the sense that he has very few relateable/human characteristics and basically exists as a way to challenge Batman. I'm not going to argue that he's as well conceived as Fring or Chigurh but he's basically as perfect as antagonists can get along with the likes of someone like Moriarty.

I'm not criticizing the four tropes I listed, I'm saying the Joker uses them all at face value (without any inkling of a subversion or twist) and uses them badly.
I mean you can make any villain look stupid if you break them down like that.

Two-Face: Wow it's just a former good man suffering from split personalities
Gus Fring: Wow it's just a ruthless drug kingpin
Anton Chigurh: Wow it's just a psychopathic hitman

woah man, crazy criminal who would rather cause chaos than profit
I'd say his obsession with Batman and challenging him is a more defining attribute of most Jokers than the anarchist stuff, which is mainly from the Nolan Joker.

Hammil's Joker is great but it would never translate into a live action film.
Have you ever seen him portray the Trickster live action?

It's simply downright wonderful.
Touche but I'd imagine the tone would have to be a lot more campy than we've seen in a Batman movie in a while for it to work.

Not that well versed in UK politics but I got Tories as usual.
That's bad. Tories are cutting funding for police departments, restricting the interwebz, and May is saying she'll take away human rights if it gets in the way of terrorism, which is easily a slippery slope.

Don't side with Margaret Thatcher 2.0.
1. I don't live in the U.K.
2. It's just an online test. I'm far from picking sides. Like I said, I'm not that well versed in UK politics.

The Flood / Re: "Triggered" is a perfectly acceptable word

Pretty much came to say what Turkey already said. The word makes sense when in relation to something like PTSD or epilepsy, not as much so for a political-related remark that pisses you off.
The word makes sense for either. Words change, and every single person on the planet (unless you're some alien who is always happy) has triggers.
Sure but I wouldn't go toting it around as a very legitimate use of the word when it's pretty much exclusively used by a niche group of milenials. Same thing goes for the word "cuck".

The Flood / Re: I did it gents

Fans did not come up with any of that, it was all authors and writers hired by Lucasfilm or Disney, or it was in the movies but it wasn't as obvious as Morgan Freeman showing up to explain what's going on.
Either way, it was another source that had to come in to tie things together better than George was able to. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but most people would probably say that they don't want to look beyond the movies for their Star Wars information. And I've always taken things like the 9gag comic as more of a criticism of George's writing rather than a criticism of the universe, because it's pretty obvious that he was approaching things with a completely different mindset from OT to Prequels. It's like the massive flaw in the Death Star's design with its reactor being so exposed. Even though Rogue One exists and explains it, I still consider it a valid criticism of Ep IV because George had no intention of explaining it.

>bunch of bs explanations created by fans to cover up plot holes

prequel haters BTFO
all of the things being called "plot holes" were explained in the movies
only the one about Leia is from a book
Cybot Galactica, Palpatine's lightsaber, and Yoda becoming Obi Wan's master after knighthood wasn't in any of the movies either.
