The Flood / Re: Crunchyroll's Weeb pandering pisses me off...« on: January 10, 2015, 11:34:42 AM »
Adding on my earlier post, there's also a fundamental issue; most of the companies that dub anime works in their own language are in fact, companies which specialize in cartoon dubbing. For example, in Italy, Spain, Germany, US, and partly in Greece; the same people and companies who paid for cartoon dubs then would proceed to dub anime.
So you can imagine that those companies in the process also butcher certain plots and stories to cater more for their market, and perhaps even regional standards. Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, and many other were reworked and then served to the wrong audiences. The cultural barrier and the way the business works, and how most countries in the west portray the position of anime, and the current trends in the industry make it impossible to actually achieve a great quality in dubbing. 1053

Yeah, people who detest subtitles as a concept get the shorter end of the stick in the anime world, and for good reason. Usually the dubs are not done in a quality that matches subs, and many anime are not even available (or really hard to find) dubbed.

Serious / Re: What are your thoughts on schools like this?« on: January 10, 2015, 12:05:19 AM »
This is pretty much what happens in certain European universities. The idea behind that is that each individual has to develop and put their own effort to complete the studies. What some other education systems do is that they slowly leave, more and more rope to the student until the thesis. Instead, this one relies on independent drive and development.
As far for school events... I'd agree there too. It would be terrible if you are in school and you are always forced on whatever is decided for you. Meanwhile, a grading scale should be used to display performance, but instead it's used for beyond that purpose. Maybe grades shouldn't be that much of a deal, but instead individual thinking and willingness to cooperate where necessary have to be something that actually deserves to be looked upon rather than remembering a couple of names, or locations. 1065

At least from my perspective in Greece; state-funded enterprises, including schools and universities before the austerity used to be very reliable. However, with the austerity and the lessening money, the state controls all the money that goes into education. Therefore, universities suffer both in quality of the academics offered and the students. Something to keep in mind when aiming for something funded by the state.

Go to where pinkfaces have funny signs with writings, and see what they have. They call it "gold" and throw it on their tables when you purchase something. They will also tell you what that something is worth.
How pinkfaces use this? 1072

The Flood / Re: Sep7agon's Future Development« on: January 09, 2015, 09:47:56 AM »
What is functional isn't exactly performing that well. The underlying design was written based on what was at their disposal years ago, and the underlying design underlying that one is even shadier. (Some of the icons are from the early 2000's)
Creating it from scratch also, means adjusting issues that we have found out over time. While having our design is nice, there's not a whole lot of point in focusing on it while we have a perfectly functional one now. 1078

The Flood / Sep7agon's Future Development« on: January 09, 2015, 09:27:39 AM »
Sep7agon V2 has launched, and some patches need to be applied... While working with the code, I can't help but notice that much of the work itself that must be done to improve the website in a truthful way is in the underlying code, rather than the design choices.
So, I have two big projects at hand; one is about improving the current themes and modules that are used, and the second project involve writing from scratch the theme, and modules that are used by Sep7agon. Of course, I don't have time for both projects at a huge priority. You have the opportunity to choose on how I dedicate my development time. 1080

Not sure what happens if you get mad at the faculty of a public university for taking such drastic choices on your behalf with little information. However, you should have.
