I really do like the design itself.
But for stormtroopers? Not so much. Maybe something from another time period, but not right after the original trilogy.
The film is set 40 years after A New Hope, it makes sense that the Stormtroopers got an update.

Fucking stupid sleek, polished shit just like in Abrams' Star Trek movies.
Star Wars was cool because it looked like a real, tangible, lived-in universe with some wear to it.
This is just bullshit.
The Stormtroopers already looked pretty polished... Yeah, I see Abrams' influence, but it's been 40 years since A New Hope in the Star Wars universe as well as our own. We should expect to see an update. I can think of so many designs that would have looked far worse.

 Left is an actual prop, right is a render. I myself am quite pleased with it. It pays homage to the original design, while still appearing much more sleek. Now, there's no official confirmation that these are real, but given that the photo on the left is an actual, physical helmet, and there appear to be multiple helmets behind it, I'd say it looks legitimate.
