You can work around it. It is not such a far fetched concept. I keep saying it all comes down to the communication and initiative of the couple but it really doesn't seem like you're reading what I'm saying. Yes, it's a big problem with a lot of relationships, but it can be fixed through communication between partners and so on and so forth. This falls into what I've been saying about people getting to know their spouses and themselves after their marriage rather than before.
In some cases yes, sexual frustrations can be worked out through communication. Often, actually. But what I am talking about is INCOMPATIBILITY. If your wife refuses to go down on you even though you do it for her when she asks, that is uncool and should be talked about. Sometimes it can be solved. I'm over it by now, and it's pointless to stick your fingers in your ears yelling "THE EU IS CANON THE EU IS CANON". Honestly, I'm not really concerned at this point. The new Marvel comics are great for the most part, and lots of good EU content is being brought into the new canon. I'm not completely sold, mind you, but I don't think the new canon spells the end of Star Wars.

Don't like the fact they meet before Empire. If you consider this canon, then it takes away some of the importance of that encounter. But I think it is hard to write dialogue for a character like Vader in the first place.
It's helped somewhat by the fact that Vader doesn't know who he is, and the only reason Luke doesn't get killed is 1) Vader is basically playing with him, 2) Vader wants for information regarding the pilot that destroyed the Death Star, and 3) in the page after this an AT-AT crashes through the ceiling. So, the way I see it, they've made their fight in Empire the first encounter in which Vader actually knows who he's dealing with, thus, I guess in their minds it maintains the importance of their fight in TESB. Regardless, I actually agree with you, but overall it's not too bad.
