It amuses me how the staff loathes the wait for Anarchy but the rest of us get overly hyped.

Thanks to everyone for voting. The staff will be adapting a hybrid policy soon and will reveal details to you all when we can.
Not too surprised at the results. It'll be interesting to see how this goes.

Gaming / Anyone here play the Disgaea series?
« on: December 29, 2014, 06:23:10 AM »
I've always heard good things about it. Now that D5 is coming to PS4 in the west this fall I'm wondering if it might be a good time jump in, or if I should check out an earlier game in the series first. Looks like similar gameplay to the FF Tactics/Fire Emblem series which I love. I'll be about due for a tactical/strategy rpg by then. Bit more animu in style, but I'm ok with that.

Its usually not worth arguing with people about. Opinions are opinions. Even if they're stupid.
I do feel like had that game come out as a 360 exclusive a lot of bnet/sep7 would have suddenly loved it.

The only new game I'd be interested in so far is Sunset Overdrive. Which looks pretty great.

Looking forward Scalebound is the only thing piquing my interest. Wish they'd do a legit Fable IV, or that I cared about Hola and Gears anymore.

I think it'll still take them a few years development-wise to turn the ship around from where Mattrick had it heading.

Why am I in D tier? Because I get pissed off when you're being a douchebag and let you know about it? Am I wrong?
Its a list of how much people like Verbatim if you didn't realize.

These are the top search engine results for the main site. It doesn't change. Like how Wikipedia's always says 'the free encyclopedia'.

After checking Google its a little better:
Fuck that blinding white though.

Bing and Yahoo also show the 'no rights' thing. Not an ad major, but that seems like a stupid catch phrase if you're trying to get people over here. I get its a play on bungie, but most people won't know that.

Transistor
Shadows of Mordor
TLOUR

Eww. Generic Zombie Film: The Sequel doesn't sound that great.
You obviously never played The Last of Us

Obviously I have. It's gameplay is nothing special and it's story is just a generic mish mash of every zombie film you've ever seen before.
Its the only zombie centric thing I can enjoy anymore. Really good story and characters. Writing and acting were superb. Solid graphics. Gameplay was intense, and rationing ammo + supplies on the harder difficulties was nerve wracking. Multiplayer isn't tacked on bullshit. Its is actually fun and again intense.

Easily one of my top 10 games

Really not a bad year for a down year. Nothing compared to the 90s. Though I guess complainers will always be around:

inFamous SS
MCC
TLOU: RM
Persona Q
Transistor
Warlords of Draenor
FFXIV
Titanfall
Bravely Default
Bayonetta 2
DK: Tropical Freeze
Pokemanz
Mario Kart 8
Smash 3ds + Wii U
Shadows of Mordor
Watch Doges
FFX/X2 HD
Hearthstone
Farcry 4
Unity
DA: I
South Park: Stick of Truth
Alien Isolation
Sunset Overdrive
Wolfenstein
Dark Souls 2

Not to mention next year is already going to be insane.

I think there is a problem if you have to ask the community how to moderate
Don't really see the issue in asking the community what style of moderation we'd prefer.
Especially since this is still a young site. You don't want to drive people off with drastic changes out of no where.
Far better to hear people out.

You're not supposed to be able to see the results.
I don't like that. I'd prefer to know what the majority view is.
I see no reason to keep our opinions secret when we're posting them below.

Plus it would tell me if the moderation is going against the majority view.
You'll find out when it ends, Jesus.

It's to prevent possible bias.
How are you going to be biased? You can't see the results until you vote and you can't change your vote...

I can't see the results at all. Regardless, it's basically blinding.
You go in, read the options, and pick your choice. You don't see what others pick.

At the end of the poll, we'll either show you the poll results or we'll simply announce it to you.
And of course mention what will and/or will not be changing based on those results.
Whatever gets your guy's jollys off I guess. ::)

Can't see the results for some reason. Voted for lax as that is the most enjoyable user experience for me personally. I've had very few issues with moderation so far and would like to keep it that way. Staff has been doing a good job of handling issues of personal attack and harassment when necessary while not being overbearing. Mods as posters have so far managed to straddle the line between professional and enjoyable quite well imo.

Hybrid I'm pretty meh on. I see potential issues with differing definitions of 'personal attack' etc. Frankly I don't think it'll please any of the users calling for a more rigid system since most of their complaints seem aimed at shitposting. Its more likely just to create more conflict imo, and result in a higher loss of users to bans. As Icy said in the last thread not precisely my cup of tea since I prefer the current set up, but I guess I'd be willing to try it out for a time before passing judgment. If I had to.

I'm certain Strict would kill this site within a week, and would definitely affect my desire to come here.

Worst time for this discussion as I'm juggling family stuff like I'm sure many of you are. Won't be able to read or discuss as much as I'd like for a couple days here.

I think if we ever implemented the system verb, meta, and sandtrap are speaking of (stricter moderation) I'd probably end up leaving.

Part of this places appeal is it lax atmosphere.

Like I said - there is also a Hybrid system (I might as well explain that briefly while I'm here since the poll won't be up for a bit).

Brief explanation for the Hybrid System

- Strict Rule Enforcement, and Clear Moderation Guidelines, for rules such as Personal Attacks, Graphic Content, Harassment - the stuff that makes this website annoying to visit. You still get a verbal warning, but you don't get 10 before a ban - 1 and then ban.
- More relaxed rule enforcement, and a suggested, but not required, moderation guidelines for rules like spam and shitposting - yeah, it may not be your cup of tea, but it's not entirely detrimental. Similar to now, where the moderators online decide the punishment, or work to avoid bans if possible.

It'll be better explained later. Give your thoughts now if you want.
I'm on tapa talk atm. Not the best format for me to discuss my views [emoji14]

Give me a hour or so and I could get to a computer. Just wanted to get a differing viewpoint in there before the staff ran too far off with ideas.

If Verb didn't want his thread derailed by negative assholes maybe he could try not constantly derailing everyone else's threads by being a negative asshole. Mods should probably think on that too before they start dishing out warnings.

Just a thought.

Aside from te fact that e makes a comment on topic that other assholes then turn into a flame war.
If you think that that's the case then you haven't been paying very close attention.
He's more than earned the hate he gets. Reading through his posts and threads plainly shows that.

Its not like everyone here suddenly decided to start picking on Verb out of no where. If multiple users suddenly start having problems with a single user, who was recently un-perma'd, then the problem probably lies with that user.
