What you're suppose to think about is what that says about how young the industry still is that an adult rating is a death knell for a lot of games.

So, how exactly is the goal of getting rid of corruption in journalism working at this point? It seems spreading it over the internet hasn't really done anything, and the journalists just dance around it with shitstains like Anita.

So far almost every major gaming news outlet has since updated their code of ethics guidelines when it comes to disclosure of relationships with the things they are covering. A number of them retroactively going back and putting disclaimers on articles. (PC gamer being the most recent)

The FTC has begun enforcing the disclosure of undisclosed affiliate links (native advertising) as actual advertising due to a gg writing campaign. Which is huge.

I'd say progress is obviously slow and a constant uphill battle, but gg has made a pretty big impact for the better so far.

Well, the Wii U is actually a Wii U and Wii. When you play a Wii game on the Wii U, you aren't technically running the Wii U at all. That's why you have to use a Wii controller, because you're just playing a Wii.

I know. I was referring to a whole process I went through on bnet with the controllers. Annoying and tedious. I can understand the wii remote, but I shouldn't have to buy a classic controller as well. Needing 3 controllers to play one game is dumb.

Game hubs is a good idea. One thing I want in the future, this is next gen after all: The ability to stream my console onto another TV within the house. There are times when I wish I could do this instead of moving it to another TV.

Gamehubs kinda sound like an expansion on the ps4 game menu that drops down for each game. Kinda surprised neither MS or Sony have gone after the Miiverse idea. Not that Nintendo has really used it to its full potential. Still waiting on that phone app.

Kind of related. Is the WiiU worth it? I want it primarily for the Metroid digital trilogy bundle that was recently announced. I only played Metroid Prime on the Gamecube over a decade ago and never finished it. I just have some questions:

Is there a decent selection of retro games available in the Nintendo eShop?

What is using that control with a built in screen like? Is it just a secondary screen for menus and items, or can I take it into a separate room and play Metroid on it?

How big is the Hard Drive? I would probably get most games digitally.

Is the pro controller worth the price?

Is it worth getting it for just Smash, Metroid, and potentially Mario Kart? I won't be playing locally with anyone, it would mainly be for solo gaming.

Wii U is arguably the best next gen console depending on your interests. There is certainly not a lack of quality games to choose from. A lot of good titles coming up as well.

Would recommend the black deluxe version over the standard white which isn't worth it. Even then the hdd is pathetic for a digital purchaser. 32gb iirc (compared to 8gb for the white), so you may eventually have to upgrade with an external which thankfully is supported.

Hear nothing but praise for the pro controllers. Don't have one myself as I like the gamepad just fine. My second favorite controller after the ds4. Yes you can play your games on it around the house almost like a handheld. It streams from the wii u. What its used for while playing on the TV varies from game to game. Some use it really well as a secondary device. Others not at all.

Would definitely recommend a wii u to anyone remotely interested in ninty games. Though I'd make sure there are games you are interested in down the line.

Unfortunate that this kind of stuff has to get so personal. Actually didn't have a problem with kiyo as a poster.
But I think this was probably the right choice though if not a bit overdue. Along with the moderators getting code of conduct guidelines. Should stave off some unnecessary headaches down the line.
