The Flood / Re: How strongly do you feel emotions?
« on: February 08, 2018, 11:00:51 PM »
Thread seems kind of ambiguous. I feel emotions but I’m not really sure if I can feel empathy or not.
This is strange because I'm actually pretty empathetic even though I'm often too apathetic. I suppose the difference is that I consciously try to be more empathetic, perhaps to make up for my apathy, but mostly to try and understand other people better.

It was ridiculous.

Ridiculously better.

Sri Mooji. That dude turned me away from a dark path that would've left me so miserable and broken I would probably be dead right now.

I'm beginning to feel the same towards Jordan Peterson as well.
i have no idea what to think about jordan peterson

he's the most down-to-earth and well-spoken person i've ever seen on the right-wing and he's obviously a smart guy, but he's also just dead wrong about so many things, and he comes across as smug to me
The cultism around him is pretty concerning. Dude's smart and says some good things, but he does talk about things not within his area of expertise. Much of what he said on the topic of Canada's law on gender discrimination was factually wrong and little more than fearmongering, and he also pushed some points as absolute truth about identity / human development that I've seen "factchecked" as actually being highly contested in scientific circles (as with the Damore memo that he supported).
Where can I legitimately fact check that because I've seen various biologists and psychologists claim the research Damore cited was sound, and I haven't seen anyone actually refute it. If there are legitimate academics with research disputing it, I would really like to see it. I want to know the truth.

When it comes to bill C16, in Canada. Is compelled speech not now instantiated in law? Does the law not state that one could be fined for mis-gendering a person? Peterson has said numerous times that, when he spoke out against the law, it was absolutely reasonable for people to doubt him because it was something a reasonable person would never expect to see from a nation like Canada. I don't believe those to be the tactics of fear-mongering, I'm sorry. If one is forced to use specific pronouns under penalty of law, then that is compelled speech. That appears to be the essence of Peterson's argument against the law. I would genuinely like to know what is factually wrong about that.

Personally, his message about taking responsibility to give your life meaning resonates with me immensely and I think it's a message that people desperately need to hear right now.

I can't find anything he's said that I can definitely say he's dead wrong about, though I still observe what he says critically. That's probably because I don't believe myself to be anywhere near smart or wise enough to say I understand much of what he talks about to the extent that I could refute him. Especially when even he claims to not have an entire grasp on many of these things and is still trying to figure them out himself. The psychological significance of religion being one of the main ares. I'll give him props, though, for being the only person to ever make the The Bible interesting for me.

I'm actually a bit too apathetic at times, though with me being so sick right now I'm much more sensitive to emotions than I'm used to and I sure as hell don't like it.

I'm definitely a logos over pathos kind of guy.

A fair amount of new peeps. I suspect they'll all stop posting within a day or two.

945
I'm seeing people talk about an Ardent Discord channel full of old Bnet people. Can anyone confirm?
https://discord.gg/nsKZgJA

I found it when I went through the groups I was in. It's a mess, though. They don't seem to know how to organize a Discord server properly.
Yeah there's way too many channels. Shit is cluttered af.

946
We got new members coming here. Fuck off so you won't scare them away.
Nah, if they can't handle loafposting then they don't deserve to be a member.

This is a paradox, watching regular porn has it where you are watching a female and a male, making it 50% gay, due to it being 50% gay it would make you the viewer 50% gay. However, watching trap porn has it where the trap is both male and female, making it and you 25% gay. Many would believe watching lesbian porn is the ideal, but it is two of the same gender having sex which would turn it around to being gay again.
Are you trying to say that porn is gay no matter what?

Ayy always a pleasure to meet more artists. You don't have to draw me anything but post some of your stuff in the ArtHub thread if you want. The more work posted there, the better.

Can do my gud ol' friendo : D you art peeps got a discord or summin' goin?
Not for the artists here, I'm afraid. I'm in an art group created by a youtuber/streamer I follow though.

Oh I didn't realize the player count was tanking like that. Maybe it's petty but I take satisfaction when that happens to games that become infected by the plague of micro-transactions. Even when I enjoy the gameplay itself I find myself wishing people would take a stance against this new practice of putting so much incentive on spending more money to have a good experience with a game.

No one's gonna stick around because this site is based on standard forum models and isn't a reddit ripoff.

I've been able to post so far so I'll start making topics for Sep7 if someone can shove me a template to use.

I think we should really highlight that we have a lot more freedom here - avatars, names, swearing, religious and political discussion... we even have/had a form of Coup for gods' sake.
If Cheat will get his jew ass into gear we could have full-blown rainbow vomit coup extravaganza.
god please never again
Bring it on. Furry avatars and all.

It was just a site error I think. Did it to me, but my account isn't at risk.

The Flood / Re: Depression/Good starting alcohol
« on: February 07, 2018, 12:44:32 PM »
If you going to use a vice regardless of the negative consequences, then at least pick one that isn't going to leave you worse off than before you started using it. Alcohol is literally one of the worst.
Turning to alcohol is only going to make things worse. Don't do it.

I don't really see how. I mean, it's not like it'll kill me like Krokodil or some opioid. And no one IRL has to know.
Tf dude, do you have any idea how terrible alcohol is for an unstable mentality? I've watched my dad slowly fall to pieces over the years and make terrible mistakes because he was trying to drink his depression away. Open your eyes to the reality of the situation. In the short term it might make you feel happier, but it has significant physical effects on your body, especially if you start getting comfortable using it more often. Eventually it will wreck your gut health which is absolutely vital to your body's serotonin production and use as well as many other essential hormones. Ultimately it leads to far greater depression than it could ever hope to correct.

And that isn't even to speak of addiction and withdrawal. Make no mistake, depressed people are far more prone to addiction.

Huh just got a 500: Internal Server Error. Site crash?

Of course they'll sell you alcohol. If you're over 21 you should be fine. It doesn't matter if you received your ID under  age. If they didn't then there is something wrong with that store.

You're still making a huge mistake though. You want pain and suffering to go away and you're only going to bring yourself a lot more. I wouldn't hold it against you, I know depression well and it's ridiculously hard to battle without any vices.

I'm just gonna say that, I started taking Kratom as a vice and while I don't think it's good to rely on any substances for a better mentality, it has helped me a ton with getting through the pain, both physical and mental, over the past year and I don't have to worry about it killing me, thankfully.

If you're going to use a vice regardless of the negative consequences, then at least pick one that isn't going to leave you worse off than before you started using it. Alcohol is literally one of the worst.

For me it was difficult because Sep7 was initially used by a certain group of users who didn't really know me from b.net. Having had a reputation on b.net its hard to start all that from scratch here.
Shit I joined NewFlood back in the day as a complete nobody. Didn't give a shit really, they had better things going for them at the time and I just wanted to get involved with the community even if I wasn't known by anyone.
