If these are guests that lurk, chances are they are bots. SMF software in general still has a Russian bot issue. If they make an account and post, chances are their posts are not approved to be viewed.
Obviously, I'm referring to actual people.

Many lurk because shitheads like Chally, Verbatim, Desty, Lemon, Loaf, and a fuck ton of others I can't think of right now, post nothing but constant verbal diarrhea on this forum.
If the content was that shitty then they wouldn't lurk, they would just leave. The fact that they browse the site at all means they're finding posts that interest/entertain them. It's entirely possible that if the banter and bickering stopped then these people would just quit coming here.

Well I try to understand that I know hardly anything about the world, really, and that "a fool doesn't learn even from a wise man, but a wise man learns even from a fool."
So I try to be considerate of other perspectives and I'm always open to changing mine accordingly so long as that perspective aligns well enough with my most fundamental values.
I definitely look at the world a lot differently than I did when I was a teenager.

Welcome is the best gesture. I need to start learning new things so badly but I can't focus at all dealing with this shit I have so I just end up drawing in my comfort zone. I guess it's better than not drawing at all which I did for nearly two months. That was depressing.

Yeah it's my favorite racing game. I have it on PC and like to go back and play through it every so often. I also enjoy the soundtrack a lot, it's pretty nostalgic for me at this point.
The Miata is actually the best car in the game and it's a starter car. Buying any other car later in the game is basically a downgrade stats-wise.
um I think that’s Underground 1
If I remember right, the Acura RSX when tuned correctly is the fastest car in Underground 2. It can get up to 240mph.
I'm not sure about just top speed, but the Miata is definitely the best overall. Trust me, just max one out sometime and see how easy it is to handle compared to practically everything else. Because your opponent's top speed is tied to your own, using a maxed out Miata is like playing on easy mode.

It has been my experience that if you work hard you don't get promoted. If you think about it from their perspective, they would be filling a pretty standard role with one of their top performing associates.
They don't want to change you to a new role when you're excelling at your other.
They can only do that to a person for some time, so long as they have the will to rise up the ranks and aren't much of a push over. Eventually they'll start to confront their superiors about it and if nothing changes then they'll seek out a better position in another company. That kind of management tactic very well may cost a business their most reliable workers.

idk when I was a newfag I just jumped right into this community and became a mod within one week.
I've always had a tendency to lurk more than post with any forum, though.

I'm just trying to get you see things from my pov for a moment
You sound like you're in the same position as my mum - working a dead-end minimum wage job (so in the US I assume that's like well below a living wage...) because an artist hasn't a lot of market to sell or job desirability in the area.
I do wonder about that. It's not like all artists (creative writing, painting, photography, or otherwise) just deserve money thrown at them for making something because the need/want for them isn't always there, but then shit like paintbrushes, canvasses, cameras and film rolls, etc don't come free. It does irk me that some artists get famous for something ridiculous like selling 9 pints of his own blood frozen into the shape of his head and then can live off the success of that whilst other artists can do nothing but work their whole lives for no acclaim, or even money.
Seems like creatives would greatly benefit from something like Universal Basic Income, so then a job (if they choose to have one) is just doing something else for your extra spare time outside of writing/painting/whatever, and some extra cash on top of what you can already live off of.
(Getting therapy's always a bonus, too)
This is one of the things Jordan Peterson talks about that resonates with me very much. Art is essential for society to flourish, and truly creative people are those that would just wither away and die if they weren't able to pursue their creativity. However, society has always been very harsh towards creative types and it's traditionally been very difficult for them to monetize their creativity even simply to the point of just earning a basic living and not struggling. Indeed, the idea that an artist must struggle to even be a true artist is something that has been entrenched in the world of art for a long time. Many famous artists even died broke and miserable and never received any significant recognition until after their deaths. It's a problem that needs to be solved, and I have hopes that it can be with the advent of technology and the internet. We live in a world now where niche creative types are able to connect with others that share their passions, and platforms like Patreon and MakerSupport give artists more options to earn something for what they create.

Honestly it's totally uncertain for me. I'm just hoping I can finally live a normal life by then and be independent again.

I rented it from a Hollywood Video in 2002 and then got it a few months later. Played 4 player splitscreen with a few friends a couple of times and that was my first introduction to fps multiplayer. Eventually got around to getting live after Halo 2 came out but I had already experienced matchmaking plenty of times at a friend's house.
I was always more into single player games, though. My fav xbox original title is still Panzer Dragoon: Orta.

Forgot how much I like drawing letters. Crazy how many good artists there are that can't sketch even basic typefaces well. I think drawing typography is one of the best ways to learn to draw cleaner/more precise shapes and forms.

Took me a few tries but I had very little experience and the test had a trick turn right in the DMV parking lot that was designed to specifically fool you for following the instructor's exact directions.

So does that mean I wouldn't have been voted into a mod position?
The only thing I would change is getting more involved with the community assuming I would've found the energy to.

DKS1 I played through blind the first time, DKS2 I played through entirely with a friend, and DKS3 I looked up a bit to make sure I didn't miss any content (because I missed a bunch on my blind DKS1 playthrough) but only enough to know it was there and not how to beat it or what it was all about.

You two have a strange attraction. I feel like if you fused into a single being, your quirks (like the dichotomy you two have for hedonism or carelessness) would even out but some of your core values would strengthen.

The thing is, we have many members that come from minority groups (people of color, gay people, trans people). They have to hear/see these slurs both in real life and in other places online, and we want to provide a place where they don't have to worry about seeing these words.
Call it censorship, call it a safe space, call it whatever you want, that's just the type of community that we are.
Yeah I get that, and have nothing against anyone who just feels like they need a 'safe space.' I just have more respect for people that can handle things that are meant to offend them. It shows a greater degree of mental stability and strength and that sort of thing is inspiring to me. Having dealt with a number of mental issues throughout my life, and having watched family and friends battle the same (some to the point of suicide), I have a keen interest in those who have a greater degree of control over their emotions and their mental state. It's the main reason (not the use of psychedelics as some people like to think) that I became interested in eastern philosophies like Zen Buddhism and Advaita.

It's not a profanity filter, it's a slur filter.
If you feel the need to constantly use slurs because freeze peach or some non sense, then fair warning Sapphire probably isn't the place for you
I agree with Verb on this. I'm not the type to use slurs, but having to protect the minds of your members from even reading them is pretty overkill. Especially for adults. You can't have a genuine serious conversation about anything really without the risk of offending someone. People need to be able to handle exposure to the things that upset them, even naughty words, or life is just going to be exceptionally hard. Sapphire can do as they please, but it's pretty obvious to me that it just isn't the kind of community for me.

What I find particularly funny is that people who hate on capitalism seem to be very aggressive and bitter towards anyone who is successful or even just in disagreement with them, and yet they do not seem to care that they display that kind of attitude, even though it virtually saps any influence they might have over the average population and makes it incredibly hard for them to actually create any of the change within government they would like to see.
Your average working man or woman who just wants to make their way in life, provide for their family, and be happy is going to look at that kind of hateful rhetoric, even if it's directed at the rich or the country, and be completely turned off by it.
Hate doesn't initiate change, not without violence. You have to present yourselves as respectable. There's a reason why Martin Luther King Jr asked his supporters to march in dress clothes and not black block or something intimidating. He understood the value of the public's perceived image of your movement.
facts > your feelings
I concur. Just don't let your movement resort to violence and authoritarianism because it couldn't strategize well within the domain of societal influence.
