I'm sorry, that isn't what you initially implied at all. Your first post in this thread only stated that those who abused a substance were morons. If don't want people to take what you're saying the wrong way then you need to clarify better. Yes, you stated that you felt substance abuse was moronic in regards to self diagnosis or not following instructions, but that doesn't negate what you first implied. It was still entirely plausible that you felt substance abuse as a whole was moronic. If you feel like you've been jumped on, I'm sorry. I'm not angry. Maybe others are. But that can be expected when you state something out of ignorance.

Making poor decisions is foolish obviously, but it's still a much more complicated matter than that. We are as we are conditioned to be. By our genes, our environment, influence from our peers, media. The foundations of addiction are rooted in one's personality/mentality. Something that is very complicated and even has uncontrollable physical variables. To say that it's simply a matter of the lack of intelligence is just plain ignorant. Such a black and white response ignores so many variables.

If you fucked up with medical drugs because you either diagnosed yourself or didn't follow your doctor's directions properly and became dependent, then yes.
So you're essentially telling me that you believe that someone who was weak willed is an idiot in the specific instance where they attempted to diagnose themselves/did not follow instructions and fell prey to addition. But that doesn't tell me whether or not you feel that such a person is a moron because of their self diagnosis or because of the fact that they are weak willed.
