It's hard to take this issue seriously when it's been going on for years and wasn't an 'issue' until recently. Just something else for media to feed off of I suppose.

Eh, regardless of how people think society 'should' be, society is going to do what it does. No one has the power to influence an entire culture. Only an idea can do that, and when one comes along, another comes to oppose it.

Instead of confronting someone with your idea of how they 'should' be, one can simply state the truth for what it is and let that person use a newfound understanding based on that truth to figure out how they 'should' be for themselves.
