I can't say for sure what will happen but my idea of death is the final and ultimate dissolution of the ego to the point that it no longer arises within conscious experience. Consciousness, on the other hand, I see as some fundamental aspect of being that supersedes the ego and all sensed, perceived, and conceived phenomena. Even time itself.

Unfortunately my pc refuses to load the new server. My isp has cached the old one and autoloads that one before it checks the web to see that the server is changed. Which means I have to wait until they update their DNS cache for the new server to register smfh. Who knows how long that will take. . .

The ego is not consciousness. If my dog wasn't conscious, he wouldn't have the awareness to know that sound of my front door opening means someone is coming home and he wouldn't come running around the corner to greet or bark at whoever is there. If he wasn't conscious then he wouldn't be able to perceive the smell of food cooking in the kitchen and wouldn't come sit next to me hoping to get scraps. If he didn't have consciousness then he wouldn't perceive anything at all, he wouldn't even exist. Awareness does not require intelligence. A being does not have to rationalize and form concepts about that which is being perceived for it to still have awareness.

You asked him why you'd hypothetically use obscure bands to feed your ego, which is asking why contrarianism is popular in the first place.
Of course his generalisation is illogical, it's SecondClass. What's even funnier is that he prides himself on being some judgeless martyr, but that's less relevant.
I point these things out so peeps might question the points they're trying to convey, because I feel like they don't quite understand them or at least the subject they pertain to fully, sometimes. As for your opinion of SecondClass and his sense of logic, I couldn't care less. It's completely irrelevant to me or anything I was trying to accomplish in this thread.

everyone on this forum has this archaic and obscure as hell sense of music, because they want to look interesting and special
I listen to obscure music because it just so happens that the most interesting, emotionally engaging, and inspiring artists I enjoy are generally obscure.
No one gives a shit about the bands and artists I listen too, for the most part, so why would I use their obscurity as some sort of food for the ego?
OT: Tool is probs my most favorite 'mainstream' band.
