The Flood / Re: Worse injury you've received
« on: August 01, 2017, 02:55:18 PM »
Ripped my big toenail nearly off and fractured my toe when it happened. Went down a very steep and massive hill on a razor scooter and hit a bump that sent me off the scooter and running at a speed much faster than a human is supposed to run.

Also, hit the back of my head with a metal swing trying to jump off of it when I was a kid and it split my shit wide open enough for part of my skill to be visible. Had to get staples in my head.

Not sure which one was worse.

For all media: A story that draws me in, as well as an interesting setting.

In games specifically: A high skill gap, and replay-ability.

sleep deprivation can have effects that aren't dissimilar from being drunk or having a bad mushroom trip
Sleep deprivation is more dissociative  than it is psychedelic. I would say it's more comparable to DXM than it is psilocybin.

This new shading technique is excellent. Really happy with how some of these are turning out.

That technique is called hatching.

The Flood / Re: What do you think happens when you die
« on: July 29, 2017, 10:12:39 PM »
Personally believe that consciousness is non-local to the brain and permeates reality like a field. We, as humans, are just one part of that consciousness experiencing life relatively inside a living body inevitably destined to die and in turn that 'piece' which is our consciousness will return to the whole.

Assuming all of this isn't some elaborate ruse, you're probably the most pathetic person I've ever met on the internet.

It makes absolutely no sense that you would allow yourself to be affected so negatively by people on some forum, who you've never met or ever will meet, and who are quite obviously trying to get a rise out of you.

At this point a permaban would probably be the best thing for you.

Okay, you telling me to not give a fuck has never helped. If anything its made things worse, and let me know when someone takes something you make without your permission or credit, let me know when that happens, I've love to know what you think of that.

Oh wait that's right, you won't give a fuck, just like how you won't give a fuck if someone robbed you in real life huh?
I've said absolutely nothing about what attitude you should have towards someone taking your content. You're just a pitiful sight and unfathomably dense is all.

Crunchy, but I like almond butter more.

We just need more things to do. Shit could be exactly the same as D1 with more content and it would be fine.

Got a true pen and display tablet finally. Not a Wacom, but for 320 bucks this thing is pretty good. Happy with it so far, though I'm still pretty garbage at digital stuff.

Played it some.

Feels like destiny. Which is fine since Destiny's gunplay is great, there just needs to be no shortage of content this time around. You would think they'd have more time to work on content and lore for the game seeing as how they didn't have to create a new engine again, but I'm not holding my breath for much more than what was in the first game at launch.

Probably because it's the name you registered as a member with so it appears in the drop down menu on your nameplate.

The Flood / Re: Is Karma real?
« on: July 15, 2017, 11:06:02 PM »
Karma is more the consequence of your action than it is some divine force serving justice. Everything you do affects the world around you ergo you must experience the effects of your actions. If you create suffering then you will inevitably suffer more.

The meaning of it has been warped in the west to be some mystical thing that punishes people for having ill will or harming others.

Really it's just action and reaction interpreted in a more spiritual sense; the idea that you must have good karma (which is to live and act in a way that minimizes the suffering you create) to achieve freedom from suffering.

Yamaoka Tesshu, as a young student of Zen, visited one master after another. He called upon Dokuon of Shokoku.

Desiring to show his attainment, he said: "The mind, Buddha, and sentient beings, after all, do not exist. The true nature of phenomena is emptiness. There is no realization, no delusion, no sage, no mediocrity. There is no giving and nothing to be received."

Dokuon, who was smoking quietly, said nothing. Suddenly he whacked Yamaoka with his bamboo pipe. This made the youth quite angry.

"If nothing exists," inquired Dokuon, "where did this anger come from?"

The Flood / Re: Love or money?

One one hand, I've always dealt with having no money and struggling isn't new to me, plus I'm rather lonely these days.

On the other, I'm sick and don't feel like I'm good enough for anyone quite yet on account of the fact that I haven't gotten my shit together.

This is a catch 22.

I'm not good at drawing and my camera sucks but here I go

It nice to see more people drawing. Don't give up.

10 minute sketch. I feel like I'm more satisfied with the faster less 'constrained' sketches I do.

They're a private company. They can't violate free speech. Only the government can.
No they can't suppress a person's constitutional right to free speech, but they can use coercion to shut people up, although that may be illegal as well.

LOL
I know people who lived under Castro's communist regime, one of them a friend of mine. Castro followed Russia's model.

Most Cubans say it was terrible and oppressive. Everybody was starving and paranoid about snitches saying they bad mouthed the regime.

Have you ever lived in communism? Or are you just some spoiled hypocrite on a computer reaping the benefits of capitalism and the freedom America has? Freedom paid for with blood. So you could yell death to America everyday and have nothing happen to you because you have the freedom of speech, the right to protest, to live the way you see fit.
Wait I thought he was just saying that Stalin didn't actually murder millions of people, not advocating for communism.

History makes it quite obvious that trying to achieve equality of outcome over equality of opportunity has killed an immense amount of people and created unimaginable horrors.
