My problem with ADS is that, in nearly every case of its addition, it includes an idiotic spread penalty on hip firing. Bloom was a concept where the cons outweighed the pros, this just sort of seems like an addition or evolution of that bad mechanic in this franchise.
ADS [at least on the BR, the accuracy increases on other precision weapons are minimal to the point where it's virtually the same as red reticule] is basically a method of fixing Halo 3's BR and merging it with Halo 2's. Spread was an unbelievably ridiculous mechanic in practice, but in theory it did neuter fulfill its job of neutering the weapon to "fix" its place in the sandbox. What ADS does is ensure that, while the BR is no longer inconsistent at ranges, it's just not the best weapon for the job. In Halo 5, the weapon has spread in its base form, but it's really inconsequential at mid ranges [spread in itself seems tighter than Halo 3's, plus the staple that is bullet magnetism]. So with your intact FOV, you can't just casually cross map, but the weapon remains consistent. However, the spread is eliminated with the BR scope, so at range we can trade situational awareness for accuracy. Small little change, but it fixes the "problem" that Bungie had with the BR. Of course, I disagree with the entire notion that the BR shouldn't be that accurate, but that's not the debate here. [I, have used, fifty, thousand commas, in this post]

Excellent post! A few questions though... Halo 3 was "slower", but that was so they could scale maps down without complaints of them being too small. I don't get your point here. Halo 3's movement speed is almost the exact same as Halo 2's. The paramount reason Halo 3 was slower paced was because of the neutered weapon sandbox and far longer [+inconsistent] TTKs. Maps being smaller had nothing to do with it [it's pretty hard to beat Halo 2's small maps in... smallness]. Hell, map remakes like Last Resort and Blackout were slightly larger than Halo 2's. which is the closest Halo has ever been in terms of gameplay values in releases Hmmm? They're fixing some things, but just taking the piss out of it in other areas. They neuter sprint by adding all of these restrictions and drawbacks, but then promote features like ADS. They want to make an Arena/Twitch shooter? Okay, good for them. But don't take what has traditionally had Arena-style gameplay and try to "spice it up" with Twitch elements.
I wouldn't say there's much twitch elements to be found in Halo 5. It doesn't remind me of Quake [or, if you're willing to call the game a twitch shooter, CoD] at all.I'm also going to say that ADS is not an inherently bad feature when it doesn't limit movement speed. It's struck a great balance of accuracy with the BR, possibly the best in the series, due to the spread tightening mechanic + FOV tradeoff.

Is it following the trend of the series in getting faster and faster?
The only time the series got faster in a Halo sequel was from Reach to Halo 4. Every other Halo has been slower paced than the last. Halo 5's pace isn't on the level of competitive Halo 2, and certainly not like competitive CE. I'll say it's slightly faster than Halo 3 [again, assuming we're talking a competitive setting] right now, if only because of the killtimes. And no, Halo 5 is far from a twitch shooter. The more interesting thing is how you're talking about twitch shooters and arena shooters as if they're mutually exclusive [they aren't]. Sly Instinct's idea is fantastic BTW.

Just some quick disagreements [I'm sure if I took more time I could break this wall down]. He has some good ideas, especially about sprint and deathcams, but It is always beneficial for you to scope in your weapon in Halo 5 as it decreases your bullet spread, making your shots more accurate. Yeah. Kind of like a replacement red reticule range. and if the older Halo did one thing right, they made a player's weapons feel consistent. HAHAHAHAAHAH If you mean Halo CE, then yeah. Addendum on gunplay: Adding headshot damage to imprecise weapons like the AR and SMG was a stupid idea. "I have never used the Halo CE Plasma Rifle" This messing around with aim that started in Halo: Reach and carried over to Halo 4 and Halo 5 needs to stop. Bullet magnetism was present in CE, but contained to the reticule graphic. Halo 2 went overboard. Halo 3 would sometimes go overboard and at other times do nothing. Or did you mean to crouch as you jumped to lower your profile in the air while you were shot at? Being fixed as we speak. If you want I can provide the tweet. Time-to-Kill is the latest buzzword circulating Halo forums latest lmao People die too fast in Halo 5. H5's precision weapon killtimes for perfect kills are about as fast as Halo 2's, and not near CE's. Autos are definitely faster, but they work well. Weapon redundancy.(The DMR and BR occupy the same niche for mid-range weapon. The SMG and AR occupy the same niche for short-range weapons.) Problem since Halo 2. Weapons are going to be redundant because otherwise people start yelling about variety. The most we can ask for now is that each weapon is in itself useful, which seems to be what Halo 5 accomplishes. [paragraph about how Halo wasn't be fast paced] Remind me why I'm still remotely serious with my response In Halo 5, taking out a secondary weapon in a gunfight is a death sentence. Uh, weapon switch times for secondaries are quite fast. I haven't timed them but they seem much faster than other Halo games. Especially CE. What rustles the ever living hell out of me is the way people claim some kind of superiority by taking in premises from previous Halo games in their arguments, when they fundamentally misunderstand [and are misinformed about] the original trilogy themselves.

Aside from the murdered atmosphere on Quarantine Zone and the unbelievably amount of lens flares, the Blur cutscenes were spectacular. The Johnson and Miranda vs Arbiter cutscene was great.
It was fantastic. I always like when devs show the difference in size and strength between the species and get it right. Just makes things that much more fun. I think a lot of Halo players sort of forget how dangerous Elites are in terms of canon compared to your average Human wince we're used to fighting them in the boots of a spartan.
This is an alien that's a good few feet taller than most Humans, probably lives on a higher-G world giving them better speed and strength and more durability by default.
Loved that cutscene.
Blur needs to get into full time movie making business.
In the canon, a Sangheili soldier is roughly on par with or greater than a SPARTAN in full MJOLNIR. Really, UNSC weaponshould be shit tier and plasma the really good ones.
I remember something about how ballistics are better at penetrating shields because of how the shields work. Obviously Plasma is better against flesh.
It's one of the mechanics in Halo CE. I don't know about the others though.
Plasma is far, far better against shields in CE. 3 bolts to no shields with the PR.

[The philosophy class I visited made me want to rip my head off and toss it in the dumpster though (preeeetty sure the prof felt the same way because he started yelling). I guess that's how first year philosophy classes go though, with people walking in to validate their own perceptions and then having them cast down...
Wait a second, am I being checkmated by verificationism itself right now]

They'd be better off dumping Destiny, firing half the staff, and rebooting Marathon.
Rebooting Marathon without Greg Kirkpatrick behind the story and with Bungie's new team of writers is kind of like tasking a toddler with lifting Thor's Hammer.
