It's just that I didn't like playing Halo 2's story due to the abysmal level pacing. Chasing Regret for two months isn't exactly my idea of fun, nor is romping around High Charity for a year. Halo 3, on the other hand, had an extremely enjoyable campaign with genuinely fun levels, but the story was threadbare at best and a sequence of random events at worst. Well it's far easier to pace a 5 hour game than a 10 hour game. I'll agree that Halo 2 was more unevenly paced, but the encounter design was cool and there were a ton of memorable set pieces dispersed throughout the game. Not to mention the glitching capabilities add some next dimension of replay value but I suppose that's besides the point. As for multiplayer, the biggest irritation for me is the bullet magnetism. I got rather annoyed at how bullets curved around cover to hit whoever was behind them. It says as lot that even I'm annoyed when I get a bullshit kill. I'd rather have bullet magnetism getting me kills than spread robbing me of kills. [This is of course referring to post AU Halo 2, as before that the BR was almost as moronic as Reach's DMR] That and the near-constant lag made it next to impossible to play. In stark contrast, I rarely encounter any debilitating lag in Halo 3, and the bullet magnetism is at an acceptable level. This is the first time I've heard anyone praise Halo 3's netcode. Seriously, H3's netcode + BR spread + no hitscan was unbelievably silly. And, hey, I liked most of the games on that list. It was just CoH and Halo 2 that I dislike.
And the first Killzone right? Riiight? I have zero idea how anyone can like the first Killzone. It's the most sluggish FPS ever created.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 though. The list does take into account some silly games [the first Killzone?!] but the point stands. Back to 2015 as requested by Masketaman: Phantom Pain and H5 have me the most hyped right now, though that could completely change with the debut of a trailer for Mankind Divided.

The only notable games on there are GTA, WoW and Battlefront.
Halo 2 > Halo 3. I'll take a "noobified" game with a great-if-misdirected story over an inconsistent one with a silly story any day of the week. Dude what MGS3, DOOM 3, 2K4, NFSU2, FC1, KOTOR2, and HL2 are less "babby" than any casualfest released in 2007  It's Fedorekd approved people. 2004 confirmed greatest and dankest year for video games.
