Summary seems cool [and is the superior way to judge a book through superficial means]. Adding to the reading backlog.
... you know, I have no idea what kind of sci fi you read Mr. Turkey. Any recommendations?

Well here's a few of my favorites, completely out of order:
Dino Crisis MGS 1/2/3 Turok 2 [non-negiotiable, the greatest game ever created and the words you use to disagree with me are the product of Oblivion's hand IRL] Halo CE Mass Effect Deus Ex DXHR System Shock 2 Marathon Marathon Infinity Planescape FEAR
I watched TLOU and I didn't feel like I missed anything. The story wasn't some kind of game changing meta medium feat like everyone proclaimed it to be [though it's obviously solid]. Almost every single one of the above games made me immediately want to get out and personally play them before I actually acquired them, through a trailer or a unique gameplay element or a distinctive atmosphere.
I can understand why people think it's a great game, but I can't ever see myself saying "yeah, this is on the level of DX" or something.
And before someone goes out and says "BUT YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED IT," I understand that I'm not qualified enough to provide a detailed opinion of the game. That being said, I don't need to have a detailed opinion on the game to make the comparison OP describes. The games I described, I like because of major elements which are far above TLOU, and obviously so.

I have a feeling the campaign may go the way of Halo 2 with You playing as not only Master Chief but Locke aswell which we kind off already know know. I have a feeling however they're going to surprise us with a 3rd character who will most likely be Arby H2 style. The Didact might show up. I don't really have anything new lol.
The Didact got Composed.
Spoiler 343 already spoiled in their comic book tie-in series that the Didact is already back.
Yeah, and in that series he gets composed. Still obviously a major threat.

Not school, or even kind of academia, or even relevant at all, but I once got in trouble at a robotics competition a while back. The competition was to see how many ping pong balls each robot could pick up in an enclosed space, and drop off at several plastic cups over the course of 2 minutes. The competition in this particular round was pretty damn great. She put an "enclosing" apparatus at the bottom so that when her bot would clamp over something, nobody else could take it without having the flip the thing over. Add that to some crazy fast speed and it was ridiculous. My bot had a "vaccuum" in the form of a paper towel roll attached to an RC arm [so I could bring the arm down, activate the vaccuum, and store the ball in the roll]. Now, there were size limits on the robot, but only for the height and width- not length. I knew that I was outmatched, so I decided to troll the other person, and the rules of the competition, just for fun. I took an 18x5 inch piece of scrap metal and slapped it onto my robot, along with some randomly heavy blocks of steel which I put on the side of the bot. So I decide to go to the next round. Everyone is laughing their heads off at how stupid my bot looks, including the competition. That is, until the competition starts, and the opposition realizes that the giant arm + weight ballasts that I put on means that all I have to do to prevent anyone from getting any points is to keep the bot's arm over the ball so the other bot can't get near it. Spoiler mfw I ended up hosting the same competition years later

Mass Effect is only tolerable because it has a really fucking good story.
I wouldn't go that far.
Plus, if that's your excuse for playing ME then there's no reason why you shouldn't play this since story is the only thing it has going for it. That and sand.
And its examination of the shooter genre, and why we play games like these.
Play the original Marathon.

While I wouldn't call the idea of a sequel dumb [far from it in fact], Verbatim brings up a good point. If your story is written well a sequel shouldn't be imperative for reasons inside the context of the narrative.
But there's a difference between telling a complete story and sequel baiting. Watch Dogs is an example of the latter.
Halo CE manages to tell a complete story while leaving room for a sequel. Same with Jak and Daxter. Or Uncharted.
Indeed, but there's nothing in my post that contradicts that. Leaving room for a sequel =/= necessitating a sequel. Something like Halo 2 or 3, where conflicts explored in the game are legitimately left open, is the problem.

Almost all of the comp sci department because of extracurriculars and robotics and such. I'm trying to make friends with the Math department but they're always so busy.
Not even going to try for any humanities course. It literally takes 30 minutes of waiting just to get an opportunity to ask the prof a question.
