Also, anyone notice this? What the hell is that holding the Lightrifle?

New Promethean? Spartan wearing a Forerunner combat skin? Didact? Can't be...
Looks like a mini didact
Could most likely be him, but I would imagine they would at least make him larger than an SIV. And why pair him with a new Promethean dropship that's supposed to be in Halo 5 Guardians. Meh, you're probably right.

Confirmed to be both a Promethean and not the Didact already. Admirals has the link to the tweet somewhere.

Oh, F.E.A.R. might work for you. One of the best shooters ever made, runs well at high settings on all my devices.

The Order 1886, wait for the Youtube release
>Gojira being mean

Whatever, weeb.

I was insulting The Order, not your laptop. I have a toaster of a PC too [three of them, in fact- all toasters], but a Celeron w/2GB RAM... probably look towards older games. Like, much older. My laptop with a Core i3, 16GB RAM [don't ask], and Intel HD4000 integ. can barely run CoD4 at medium.

Spoiler
I should also make the point that I have never actually followed an anime series in my life aside from Inu Yasha, which was one of the worst decisions I ever made

And I guess Dragon Ball but still

The funniest thing about all of this is that the game's story is actually garbage too.
Based on what reports?

Mine, after watching the entire thing on Youtube. Elements are left completely unexplained, twists are predictable, and not even a shadow of suspense is present throughout the entire thing.

TLOU is an infinitely superior example of a "cinematic" game. It's like they made this game to show off how we took the former game for granted.

Of course fighting a werewolf would have the same animation. That's like screenshotting Chief executing an Elite in two different missions and bitching about it.

Except both of these are boss fights, against two different werewolves.

Gaming / Re: Bungie now has a 'loremaster'
« on: February 17, 2015, 11:36:04 AM »
Well anime reactions aside, I disagree on "best lore" in modern gaming. It's great, yeah, but I mean, other games have far more to it such as Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Fallout, Dragon Age (I find that lore boring), etc.

And I disagree with that [though I did say "among the best" and not "best"]. Of the ones you listed I prefer Mass Effect, mainly because I'm not much of a hard fantasy fan, but Destiny's lore covers themes more advanced than ME ever did. If you've ever played through the Marathon Trilogy you'll find an even greater appreciation for Destiny's Grimoire too [Darkness obviously is W'rkncacnter, Vex = S'pht, etc.]

I'll probably have a post up explaining just why I like Destiny's lore so much, and its relations to Marathon, so instead of continuing the debate I'll just sorta sit this one out.

You ever notice how Bunie seems hesitant to move away from the series that put them on the map? Halo was basically just Marathon 2.0, and Destiny is a repainted Marathon...still waiting for them to actually reboot the damn thing. :c

Halo barely reached Marathon's level of depth under Bungie's command [and even under 343's, I can only really point to Bear's work- which I know you dislike]. Not until the Halo 3 terminals did we get anything remotely near what happened in even Durandal. Destiny has the full potential to tell another story on the level of Marathon, but since Greg Kirkpatrick's out...

IDK, I just hope the potential is actualized and we get something like the Marathon trilogy again. And hell, IIRC Activision's contract allows Bungie to make a Marathon reboot too.

They need a writer, not a loremaster. Their lore is already among the best in modern gaming.

Annnnd they're looking for a new lead writer/narrative designer too. Niiice nice nice

Serious / Re: Do broken promises count as lies?
« on: February 16, 2015, 08:38:04 PM »
Depends on a number of factors, including my favorite: linguistics. I consider a lie to be a linguistic expression evaluating to False.

A) Determinism implies Yes

It's already been determined, and you're making a claim with a truth value about it. If you're wrong, your statement is false, therefore untrue, therefore a lie.

B) No Determinism implies Not necessarily yes

Could be wrong, could be right. You don't have enough knowledge to be sure [and you never will], but your claim doesn't specifically evaluate to false from your perspective when you're making the statement.

Of course, the example you provide is kinda iffy. "I'll do better" obviously has its relativistic connotations too :P

And of course, I guess some people would tend to disagree with my definition of "lying." Technically if I'm defining it here doesn't that make my argument circular? What the sh1t am I doing?

I need some sleep

Serious / Re: Free will and shit
« on: February 15, 2015, 03:49:17 PM »
I don't think they're mutually exclusive. When I make a decision, I subconsciously use my experiences to determine what I want. At the end of the day, everything I do is causally linked. The ability to recognize the impossibility of prediction is what I consider free will. Until the human mind can be accurately modeled to predict our actions, and can include the feedback loop of bias caused by knowing those things, free will is a reality. Though to me, free will is a misnomer; call it sapient uncertainty.
