No, because authorial intent has no bearing on the meaning of the propositions in the actual novel. No reason for me to dislike the work if the author thinks of it differently than I do. And subtext is essentially relativistic at its core so there's even less reason for me to care about that as well. Noticed this when I first watched 2001 and thought it could be about man-machine psychology when Clarke actually wrote it as a story about aliens. I enjoyed both interpretations, and realized that neither was "more correct" than the other.

Sometimes I do just end up not liking authors themselves because of their interpretations though. Can't think of any examples though *shrug*

i don't even really think spider-man is really strong enough to be in the avengers anyway
lol
how is he

the strongest he's ever been shown to be was in spider-man 2, where he (barely) stops a train in its tracks with his web

This isn't connected to the DCCU in any form. It's a manner of pandering to young women to get new people into the DC audience.

This is the inspiration for BvS. Peace on Earth Superman and TDKR Batman.

Side note: If Civil War is the standard that Cap 3 is trying to live up to, the movie's gonna be garbage. Though I'm almost certain Russo's aren't dumb enough to repeat the comic's mistakes.

Better than the first one, but I still think it's not nearly the greatest thing to come out of the MCU.

The Flood / Mad Max has a straight 100% on RT

90 on Metacritic as well. Aggregate review scores are BS half the time [reminder that ROTS has an 80% on RT] but this is damn impressive.

Spoiler
Speaking of Mad Maxes, what happened to Mad Max [the user]?

the pistol in the first halo

what were they fucking thinking

They weren't, but it was a pretty beautiful accident they made.

Pre auto-update H2 dual pistols were quietly the most overpowered thing in the entire Halo series, but nobody notices them anymore.

My favorite shit to use in Halo 2. Dual pistols. That fire rate was off the damn charts.

Those Honor Guards towards the end of Delta Halo really hate me for them

Gaming / Re: Mass Effect: How did you deal with this problem
« on: May 06, 2015, 12:39:03 AM »
I didn't, I usually just base it on which subsequent Saren encounter layout/location I want to experience more in that particular playthrough [and I suppose it's a consequence of who I choose to go with Kirrahe]. Usually I end up saving Kaidan for whatever reason, despite having no favoritism towards him

That's what I'd give it as well. Maybe even a 5/10 on a bad day. I'll elaborate when I have time [AKA, some decade in the unforeseen future]

I don't understand, what was up with the last ending?

It was silly and diluted the player choice offered in the game, along with providing no real resolution or epilogue to the story.

Spoiler
Basically 3 buttons or a suicide prompt. Mass Effect 3 style, only this time the ending didn't completely change the plot of the game. It was just unsatisfying. Easy to retcon as well considering there was no real statement of what happened after the choice.

Dunno how I feel about the protag being Jensen again.

Super hyped about it on my end. Didn't think they'd bring him back at all, but it seems like they're doing it in the best way: not making him the same guy as he was in DXHR.

Deus Ex scratched the itch left over from Splinter Cell. I'm looking forward to the sequel, though Human Revolution's ending having no impact seems odd.

The ending was silly [if thought provoking], and even Eidos basically said the last few hours of the game weren't near what they wanted it to be. I'm glad they're leaving it in the dust tbh.

Haven't been able to post here for a while, but the mai <3 Deus Ex will be revealed tomorrow, and GameInformer has the cover reveal. GAF post which has all the pictures

What we know:
-Transhumanist apartheid/"class difference" will be the main focal point of the story
-Illuminati/Taggart basically used Darrow's plan against all transhumans, i.e. augmented people went crazy worldwide and transhumanism is now hated by mainstream societies
-Jensen's back
-Previously he was relieved of his agency, but now the story deals with his failures with his agency now that he has it
-Prague is a location, the story will be of a global scale
-DXHR ending is inconsequential to the story
-Malik isn't back [;_;]
-In depth weapon customization
-Stealth elements are back, even greater focus on providing choice to players with level design
-You can launch your hand blades at people
-Gameplay choices will have repercussions inside the game itself, i.e. keeping a random squad of enemies alive can make them show up more prepared later in the game

Rumors:
-It seems that Michael McCann is also back, there is what seems to be a modified version of Icarus in the GI video
-While choices from HR won't be imported here, choices in this game will probably matter in future installments as Mankind Divided is part of an interconnected "Deus Ex Universe"
-Conversation dialogue may be randomized, so people will not be able to look up walkthroughs to get by difficult conversations

Trailer music by based McCann

Also, when I said the ending will be inconsequential, I meant the ending choice will be inconsequential. Obviously the end of HR has significant repercussions for where Adam starts off in MD.

GAF post with GI details.

Quote
-Side quests meant to be more meaningful; ex. players can choose to make deals with criminal organizations and its mob boss might call in a favor later interrupting main missions
-Doesn't want fetch quests, the team sees the extra quests as a way to explore the main themes of the game more deeply

Why are people talking about Chief's flash clone anyway? Is there something I missed?

The #FindTHEtruth podcast was talking about the life of John's flash clone
What "life"?

Those things weren't even supposed to see their late teens ffs.

Life up until a disappearance [death]. And Halsey's journal confirms several clones were able to survive much longer than initially predicted.
Whoop dee do.
All that would've come about from that is a slightly increased interest in a technology that was imperfect anyway.
If it has any bearing upon the story, attributing any advances in it to the Spartan program is a simple cop-out.
Why are you getting mad?
Am I?
Is wanting to know why a plot point brought up, then dropped because it was done with is being brought up again for apparently no reason bad or something?

Erm, the investigator's trying to dig up stuff on the Chief and comes across stuff about John's childhood and the sudden vanishing of the clone. The plot thread is just there to get the entire conspiracy aspect underway.

I'm still not sure if that's even what you're confused about. But, well, there it is.
