The Flood / Re: The last vestige of Bungie is going
« on: October 31, 2023, 07:45:14 AM »
Bungie just laid off a shit ton of staff including Michael Salvatori. Final Shape is delayed by 4 months and Marathon delayed to 2025.

It has never been more over.

I would like to see something for GTA V's 10th Anniversary this week but chances are they'll just give out a new t-shirt and 1.05x job bonus or something.

this is one of the greatest games i have ever played. a legitimate 10/10.

Spoiler
ending was kinda underwhelming though

Witch Queen to me felt like the last hurrah for Destiny. Everything since then has been "vaguely adequate" at best but all largely forgettable with a very "minimum viable product" quality to it. Even then the fatigue with the seasonal model was starting to set in around Chosen/Splicer. And Bungie have made clear that they're committing to the seasonal model, and that putting any effort into the core playlists (beyond bloating it with Battlegrounds) would take resources away from that. As long as people continue buying the Annual Pass every year I don't see that changing sadly.

Now Baldur's Gate 3 was being criticized by some AAA devs because how dare they launch a finished game in 2023!
This isn't actually the case, IGN just put out an inflammatory headline to get Gamers riled up. It's based on a tweet about how the conditions and dev cycle behind BG3 were an anomaly and something within the wider AAA space would have to change to make more games like it possible. IGN made it sound like when those shithead Ubisoft devs were shitting on Elden Ring last year but this is a bit different.

I was already getting fed up with the seasonal model and lack of care for the core playlists, and Lightfall was ass, but that SotG was potentially the final nail in the coffin. Unless TFS is amazing that will be my jumping off point. I won't be surprised if other people drop off after TFS too.

The Flood / Re: AI, Art, and Artists.

AI shouldn't be replacing any artist, even if they are subjectively perceived to be "bad" at their job.

I think AI is fine in cases of like Spiderverse, where they used it to add lines to character's faces depending on viewing angles etc. But using AI to generate the art itself is not valid. Especially when AI doesn't actually have any understanding of what it's doing - it's just superficially mimicking whatever is in the training set.

Playing through VtM: Bloodlines at the moment. Good foundation of a mid-2000s RPG but takes a ridiculous and frustrating combat-oriented turn in its second half.

disney+ needs to check their quality control because it seems like they accidentally let something good slip through

Absolutely vile supreme court decision. What a shithole of a country, and I say that as someone living in Britain.

Bungie gets resources and manpower, Sony gets a cut of the profits of one of the biggest live service games in addition to establishing a presence in that part of the industry after relying purely on single player experiences for so many years.

We get to watch the corpse of our childhood studio continue to defile itself and the gaming industry
Your childhood studio never existed in the first place.

If it wasn't for the open world Halo Infinite might be in my top 3 Halo campaigns, but the Ubisoft-esque elements and lack of biomes/environments knock it down.

Otherwise, story is decent if a little messy from having to address Halo 5 in some way but they handled it about as well as they could. Also suffers from Marvel-itis where a lot of the game is more concerned with setting up the next one than just telling a self-contained story.

Death Stranding
How are you liking it?
I was finding it somewhat overwhelming throwing new mechanics at me but it was overall interesting and starting to grow on me. I stopped playing it a few months back because it wasn't really the sort of game I was able to properly get invested in at that time because I was busy job hunting and building my skills, but I'm probably gonna reinstall it soon and carry on now that I'm in a more stable position.

The Flood / Re: Walking Dead Season 1O
« on: August 11, 2021, 02:21:32 AM »
What happened to Fear The Walking dead? I stopped after season 1 because the good characters either died or parted ways.
I think I stopped watching base TWD after they went from the prison to the actually decent camp place.
It just finished its 6th season. I don't watch it but Morgan from TWD has effectively taken over as main character and there was some doomsday cult with a nuke.

Just finished rewatching both seasons 9 and 10 in preparation for the final season. Good stuff.

The bonus COVID episodes are a mixed bag though. An entire episode of Carol trying to make a stew. But the Aaron/Gabriel one and the Negan backstory were really good.

How is VOG here compared to the original
Basically the same raid, the only real major change is that you now have to shoot the oracles in the order they appear.

Very fun overall, better than basically every other raid we've had in the past couple years aside from maybe Last Wish.

What's the light leve requirementl, I might hop on this.
I think it's only 1300, don't need to grind to a higher power this time.

How do i grind to that level? Ive got no idea what's going on in the game and every time i boot it up im instantly sucked into some random mission with no context. like half the planets and areas are gone and the Fallen dude who helped me get Outbreak prime has gone full Arbiter apparantly
If you're below 1300 you should just go up in power with the majority of armour/weapons you earn.
