Voted to end Daylight Savings Time here in California. It better pass.

How would that work unless all the states did it
Arizona got rid of it entirely a couple years ago and it's something that's always been talked about here
? bruh we havent had dst in a long long time. more than a couple years

Is it just my university or is physics fucking impossible
We have 45% averages in the department with 15 point curves lol
I think more prestigious universities will make hard science courses "weed out" courses.
>prestigious

no thats any uni. physics isnt easy. shits hard to do because the applications change as you advance. E=mc^2 isnt what youre told since the first semester of physics, its much more complicated than that and more notation in it.
I’m not really talking about the material, more so the mentality of professors actually aiming for half the students to fail their course.
maybe the students are retarded cause my classes have had the majority of what i remember from my first semester here. minus the ones who had to move/quit/etc

Whats on your mind faggots? Im just chilling and thinking about how i'm gonna find a job after graduating and shit. It's stressful as fuck ya know? Tell me how you feel

You want to be an astronomer right?
ye, to be one id need a phd to be considered as an astronomer. but grad school ill do on my own in the future.

Is a job hard to come by with a PhD in astronomy?
To an extent yes. It's a highly competitive field which takes time to gain expertise. The time in school to get a PhD would have you learn to make proposals to gain the grants and time on very worthwhile telescopes which is what scientists want. You need to be able to help with the papers and reduce data that many people can't really comprehend.

I'd imagine getting a PhD is hard. But the skills that come with it and how you can use them is what makes it worth the time

Do you have any internships or plan to get any experience in the field?
Sounds like you'll need connections
Well first i need my bachelor's. Luckily i can operate telescopes with one and work for a few years before starting my masters which is what i'm planning right now

Ugh I’m barely making it to my bachelor’s degree
Bachelors are fucking worthless but the addition time and money going for a masters and beyond makes my head hurt
Im almost done with mine. I technically graduate this semester but starting an extra one to do a class to keep up with my physics minor to turn it into a major in the future and gpa booster.

depends, a lot of the reasons why people take lower level physics (uni physics NOT for physicists) is to get gen ed out of the way which is retarded since it wastes the talent of the astro/phy dept faculty. a lot of the people taking it for gen ed are bio majors/lib arts/engineers wanting a different way to see engineering and the lot of them are either retarded or just dont care (i dont blame em). but even in higher level physics we get weed out classes but not on a mass scale like lower level. physics is hard, you cant really change that.

not the "save the world" gametype (not yet at least), which was the actual game before battle royale mode was introduced to save it.

I’ve been having a rough few months. Maybe even years. But lately things have been going well. Truthfully if I can sort out my headspace, quit smoking and tackle my sleeping pattern I’ll literally be on easy street.

Ordered a few slaps for the car too. Good to see you back fam
same tbh, ive had a hell of a year since my last breakup. i lurk here but i enjoy you lot. hopefully youre doing well now.

« on: October 19, 2018, 05:02:31 PM »
But i feel you verby chan. I feel like i wanna die because i need more fucking school to do anything with a subject i actually like because a bachelors isn't enough to do research with an astronomer or team. Literally the best i can do is be a telescope operator which isn't bad or teach but i need credentials to do so for the most part. Sometimes dropping out makes it seem like it's worth it

The Flood / Re: how do i undo going to college
« on: October 19, 2018, 04:59:18 PM »
How difficult is it to change your classes / major? Sounds like a lot of your issues come from what you've decided to study.
it depends on the degree tbh. American education for college is set up so once you finish your gen ed and you switch majors when you're a junior or higher you'd theoretically need 2 extra years to get your new degree in the other field. Or something like that.

I think 16 or so is more reasonable
