The Flood / Britain's 'loneliest schoolboy' forced to befriend ducks.

The 10-year-old lives on the remote Scottish island of Out Skerries, where he is Skerries Community School’s sole pupil.

Aron, who wants to be a fisherman like his father Ewan, 43, when he grows up, admitted: “It is quite weird sometimes – not having anyone else at school.

“But I like this island. I can ride around and explore on my bike; in summer I can swim in the sea and jump off the pier.”

His exclusive education costs the local council £75,357 per year, more than double the price of a boarder’s place at Eton.

English, maths, science, cookery and crafts lessons take place in a single-storey, two-room modern building set close to the sea, as everywhere is on the tiny Shetland isle 386 miles north of Edinburgh.

PE lessons consist of a bracing one-mile daily walk with teacher Jean Harlow, picking up interesting objects en route.

As the only school-age child on the island Aron's best friends are his dog, some ducks and flocks of sheep.

The Flood / Fox Clan Roll Call & Meeting
« on: November 24, 2015, 08:47:24 AM »
Sound out like you've got a pair (of lugs*)! And activate your Fox Mode Avatar.
We'll talk business once at least half of the clan is present; at that time we'll hear any proposals or presentations that any of us have to make to the group in general. Apart from that, I encourage you to treat this as an opportunity to re-establish our bonds and have a foxy chit chat.

(Also, I tried to remember all of our current members but if I left you off the list let me know!- chances are I'll remember as soon as you post)

Grace Spry, 20, who lives there with her family, said the foxes reside under the house and come out for a short time each day.

"They have been living underneath our house for a couple of months now. We first noticed them when they ate our pet rabbit," she said via Facebook. The foxes in the photos are playing, enjoying the sunshine and scavenging around the garden for food, Spry explained. She said although many people consider them pests, she is happy with the foxes hanging in her garden.

"I was intrigued, since I had never seen a fox in the light of day," she said. "I can understand a lot of people hate them because of the damage they cause, but watching the small ones play was quite cute. They only spend short amounts of time outside during the day, and are very quick to disappear into the bushes or under the house when there is a noise."

The Flood / Thread Timelapse Battle
« on: November 16, 2015, 08:35:50 AM »
What was you favourite thread within the last three days?

Now, what was your favourite thread with the last six days?

If those two threads went head-to-head who would win?

If the three and six day threads are the same, then that thread is by nature, an Overlord Thread Master Race Thread and the possessor can battle any other who possess such a one. In this scenario if the Overlord Thread Master Race Thread was made within three days it is for our purposes still designated as such for the benefit of the above poll, and the same applies in regards to six day threads.

Remember after you've voted whether you're a three or a six day man! Which faction will win the Thread Timelapse Battle?

The Flood / I saw SPECTRE
« on: November 14, 2015, 10:30:42 PM »
It was okay. I only want to talk about what I didn't like, which was the ending. So if you've already seen it, or you just don't care, click the spoiler below. I won't be covering the plot in much detail.

Spoiler
First of all they end up back in London. Bond is 'captured' by the villains and taken to MI6, where Blofeld tells him that the building will explode in three minutes. He can either jog back the way he came in and escape quickly, or he can search the building for his girlfriend. Blofeld retires to a helicopter to observe events, while Bond makes a sweep of MI6. Bond, seemingly defeated, takes a time out to stand and stare at Blofeld in his hovering chopper, then realises that the person he was looking for is in a room next to him, busts her out, jumps off the building into a net and takes a boat out on the Thames. While boating along the Thames he shoots Blofelds helicopter down with a handgun. The Helicopter crashes and Blofeld is left crawling, injured over a road. 007 and Q wander over and stand over him smugly. The End. I don't even have to explain why I find that underwhelming and silly.

Somtimes, the feeling is right
You fall in love for the first time
Heartbeat, and kisses so sweet
Summertime love in the moonlight

Ah-yippie-yi-yu
Ah-yippie-yi-yeah
Ah-yippie-yi-yu-ah

Now the summer is gone
You had to go back home
Please come and see me again
I never felt more alone

Baby, I am missing you
I want you by my side
And I hope you'll miss me too
Come back and stay
I think about you every day
I really want you too
You swept my feet right off the ground, you're the love I found

Get ready for the most beautiful story you’ll hear all day. For years, Paul Montgomery was Christian Bale’s biggest fan, eagerly anticipating each of the actor’s films. When Paul passed away last week, his family set out to honor his dying wish, and now, thanks to their efforts, the Dark Knight star is making that wish come true!

Incredible!

The Flood / Volcano Could Mean Extinction for the Rocket Frog
« on: November 10, 2015, 10:31:00 PM »
Article.

Quote
Biologists near Quito, Ecuador are rushing to evacuate a critically endangered frog species before a volcanic eruption wipes it out.

The small, chocolate-striped rocket frog—Hyloxalus (Colostethus) jacobuspetersi—was once common around Quito, even in pastures and backyards (it adapts well to peopled landscapes). Now, for unclear reasons, there is just one population left. Fewer than 100 adults, plus an unknown number of juveniles and tadpoles cling to life in the Andes along the Río Pita, a river fed by melting snow and ice atop the recently active volcano Cotopaxi.
