The Flood / Re: I just want to check with everyone here
« on: October 12, 2014, 05:13:53 AM »
How about this one?
1. No threads about any other users what so ever, and if it resembles that of another user with two marks, or traits, then it will be removed.

An example: "I met this psychologist guy that moderated my intake on apple juice. frack the psychologist mod!"

That has many traits that are similar to Mr Psychologist, a mod.
So, making a thread titled "I love Zesty" or "So I was playing Halo and ran into ChallengerX" would be a bannable offense?

I foresaw your answer, and thus I wrote "and how?", but you ignored it.

I don't really see how this could affect the third world countries worse than it already is. I can only see improvement. We're already fracking shit up, but if we frack it up enough, we can frack up Earth as a whole together as humans.
The way this could mess up third world countries is that genetically modified organisms can potentially be registered as intellectual property, which is another challenge that needs to be tackled. If this modified produce isn't available to all, it's far from unthinkable that Western and developed countries would become sufficiently self-reliant that there would be no more need to rely on the produce of third world countries, effectively shutting them down. You can read all about this and many other objections against GMO's right here.

And I don't know "how" some of that would be researched. I have a decent understanding of how we'd go about regulating the legal side of it all, but I'm no biologist or economist.

Posting in every thread you see and starting lengthy conversations about absolutely nothing seems to do the trick.

Thanks. So how about that weather, huh?
A little cloudy right now but nothing too bad. It's getting colder again though, which is a shame. I hope it'll at least stay somewhat warm while my girlfriend's over to visit by the end of the month.

How about where you're at?

We do this once. We do this twice. We do this three times. We do this four times, or we alternatively, set down solid rules. The whole process would be unfair, as Cheat might be subjective as well, and thus rules that are good, and objective, would be much more efficient.
On the off-chance that you aren't just trolling, why don't you tell me what you think proper objective and good rules would look like?

You can't be this simple minded.
Room for interpretation is necessary. If a ninja crosses the line, it's up to the community to speak up about it and for Cheat to make the final decision.

It's still my favorite Halo, along with the endless Halo 2 split-screen customs I had with friends.

Research how? What is it that they're supposed to research, and how are they supposed to research it?

If you're researching the average temperature of fire, then it'd be wise to measure the temperature of many fires, of various sizes, but what you shouldn't just say that they need to research it.
Mainly risk assessment (health risks and consequences for non-modified foods) and research on what the introduction of GMO's would mean for the global market and development of third world countries.

Seems like they're generally accepted to be safe for your health, but a lot of controversy still exists. I don't think I'd mind all that much.

As long as they're applied fairly and actual transparency is promoted, I don't have a problem with these rules.

This should probably be in Serious.

I personally have no issues with using genetically modified foods, but there needs to be more research done and a strong legal basis has to be created so that it doesn't end up pushing third world countries into more poverty.

Thieves Guild was good. Dark Brotherhood was meh.

Still, Oblivion's were better than both.

Indeed you were. Those were the days, lol.

Sounds like you're on to something here Deci.

You didn't imply that it had to be upvotes with your karma.

I can't stay to argue because my wife should be back from her errand soon and I promised to watch a movie with her, but this is one of the studies I'm referring to.
That is your study? A single post on a biased pro traditional marriage website with not a single source from past 1988?

Oh boy, this should be good.

I guess you've never studied Islam, or for that matter Christianity.
Please tell me it's Dustin.
Cheat's the only one who can view IP's after certain recent events of moderator abuse.
As far as I'm aware the 3 Master Ninjas can view IP's. Not that it would matter, if it was an alt it would have been perma banned right away.
Last I heard, Cheat literally said he was the only one who could view IP's after what you did in Anarchy. He even made it so that they're not constantly visible but instead require him to go out of his way to find out what IP belongs to what user. Unless he recently changed that policy, of course.

Besides, aren't you just a normal mod anymore?

*returns to bungie.net* I have to tell the flood
There's no Flood left on Bnet anymore. And Camnator is also posting there, albeit under a different name.
the floods alive
I still check on Bungie every so often. Off-topic still seems in the same awful state it was when I left.

Well... Yeah, I guess. That kind of limited customization is still possible, though.

I don't think that's what anyone thinks of when talking about custom backgrounds though. Back in the days of Coup it meant being able to include a picture, for example.
In that case I probably wouldn't mind. Just seems like an unnecessarily huge amount of work though. The background is fine the way it is, nice and uniform for all. I doubt anyone would make a big deal about wanting their own colored background.

Spoiler
Then again, you never know with some of the people here...

Yeah if Coup is a thing please for the love of god do no put custom post backgrounds in
I only used Coup once or twice, but I still remember how utterly awful it all looked. Glad I'm not the only one thinking this.

Septagon / Re: Coup and Ads

Well, basically it would be by presenting a set list of colors and background patterns to choose from, that were tested earlier to fit with the overall design and possible mismatching color choices for the text. Something like the current title bar system, but applied to post backgrounds, a little bit more advanced. (Which means loads of work both in design and implementation)

There might be ways to make background change possible whilst it fits with the design without effectively breaking it. I am not going to personally investigate on this right now, though.
I have my doubts about that. The original Coup tried to do the same yet in the end the forum still turned into a cacaphony of chaotic messes, conflicting colors and a ton of anime pictures everywhere. I can't really imagine how you couuld people the freedom to do that without having the forum turned into a chaotic mess.
