Fury is an enjoyable movie
I liked it but a few point. I am a real tank nerd
The 2nd battle with the tiger fury survived 1 45 degree shot by a tiger at 40m away. IRL that would never happen. The tigers 88 mm cannon could knock out a sherman from ranges of 800-1200m away. The logs on the side of the tank would not of helped.
The last battle where the German SS brigade was just stupid
If I'm thinking of the shot you're thinking of, that was somewhat plausible. The tiger should have been firing straight up APCR, meaning pz.gr.40/43, not the explosive 39/43 ballistic capped HE. We see damage to the hydraulic system from the penetrating hit but not major spalling and injury to the crew from an HE detonation. Or so it seems. Dang Hollywood stuff.
Funnily enough, they should have been shooting at the Tiger's side's, not it's ass.
And yeah, the battle at the end was kind of... what the fuck. I mean, A company, sure. Late was SS field level "leadership" was ridiculously untrained and all of the mistakes made and the ignoring of standard doctrine when discovering and approaching the tank are realistic expectations. But a battalion? That's a lot of fucking dudes...
It made for some good mindless entertainment though.
