I've been applying for jobs left and right lately, I'm up to 310 applications since November 2013, 3 interviews, 1 person actually give me (unhelpful) feedback after a follow-up, and 0 successful applications. I'm astonished at how tough the competition is for an entry level job. Over 570 applicants for a casual Retail assistant, and people with 8+ years of retail experience, who should really be working a well paying job in the city with qualifications like that are snapping up all of the opportunities. I wanted to start putting some significant money into a savings account to get an early start on House/Car money, but I guess that'll be on hold for at least 5 years. I've been out drinking with friends maybe 8 times in the past 2 years, so I can't even afford to have friends at the moment. Sucks fam.

There's not much to do in NYC besides shopping.
Sure there's things like the Statue of Liberty and WTC. But all of them can be knocked out in a day. You'll spend most of the day just going into stores.
I would recommend Philadelphia. And are you even visiting any National Parks? It's the main reason why people visit the U.S.

Honestly, you'll probably never meet a New Yorker. 95% of all the people you see will be immigrants and tourists. You need to be a New Yorker, or at least be hanging out with one, to anywhere where they might actually congregate.
