All of the thoughts I had and thought were fascinating at age 10 are now perplexing you at age... you're like, 22, right?
I'm probably about to ruin your day, but, there are no other great mysteries in life.

The shit we started pondering in our youth will be the same deep enigmas that accompany us for the rest of our lives, no matter how much we might like to think that something deeper and more important will come along later.

The greatest fool is not the one who still asks the questions, he is the one who stops.

The Flood / Just finished Season 3 of Bojack Horseman
« on: August 29, 2016, 08:19:15 AM »
Best season yet.

Didn't like the underwater episode, but other than that it was a wild, emotional ride.
The last episode was practically a masterwork, but the themes explored over the rest of the season were immaculately communicated in what is frankly one of the most meaningful projects I have seen in a long time.
Sensitive Content
Sarah Lynn's death was heart wrenching, and I honestly thought the final episode couldn't go any deeper into the fragile psyche and destructive nature of a washed up millionaire celebrity than that moment, but when its alluded to that he has a daughter he doesn't know about, and Todd forgoes his fortune, all while Mr Peanutbutter is approached about running for governor, I feel like we're being primed for a season that will get further down into the root of Bojack's poisonous personality, maybe even deep enough for him to finally find closure.

That being said I cannot see the show getting a fifth season, I really believe Season 4 would be a good place to end it, but they may surprise and even further impress us.
I cannot recommend this series more highly. The contrast between the serious emotional themes explored in it and the cynical, sarcastic nature of the comedy is a perfect mix.

Charlie I don't know if you've ever been to UT's campus but it doesn't have a start or stop point, its kind of integrated into downtown.

Under Texas laws I could already carry an assault rifle around their campus, as long as I didn't enter any buildings.

So UT is kind of the dumbest campus to do this on.
I could give a shit about what they're protesting. It's the how that's cracking me up.
Ah okay,I just knew you're a commie bastard who needed to be put into his place.

Dildos are fun though.

Do I agree with what they're protesting about? Of course. But it's not really that big of a deal when you look at the numbers. Gun violence, despite media coverage, is on the decline.
My point was protesting the law there was stupid because the campus was barely affected by it because most areas are considered city property, since the campus isn't really well defined like neighboring Texas State's campus is.

What ever happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
That was the comic that got me into reading Superman comics, and DC in general for that matter.

Before that I only really read Marvel, and dabbled in Infinite Crisis.

Great story.

Of course it was.

However, that doesn't mean central banking is a mistake, the Federal Reserve is just a really shitty one.

I'm beating a dead horse here, but whether or not you, personally, appreciate something does not change whether or not it is important.

Graphics don't matter because they don't alter functionality.

Just because you appreciate it does not change whether or not it is important.

Games have to be beautiful as well as functional, I've never bought into the stupid indie 8-bit fad, its almost never charming.

8-bit games can be beautiful, but games do not need to be beautiful.

I don't like the indie game fad either, but those games suck for reasons other than "they look old".

There is absolutely no excuse for delivering a lazy product when you can bring so much more to the table, Crystal would be a high school project today, albeit an A+ project.

Because it doesn't look nice? That's idiotic.
Functionality is only half of a game. Not to mention that it isn't even the half that sells.

Sorry, but games are not one sided. Like any art form they have many different facets, and none of them can be weak.

Crystal is lacking in features compared to newer releases, and is graphically uncaptivating.

That doesn't change the fact that its my favorite Pokemon game, but the reality is that if it released tomorrow it would be nothing more than a joke.

4572
You say that, but a major part of Pokemon is collecting your Pokemon and watching them smash into each other and shoot lightning, and when we know what we're capable of, there's no excuse for black and white flame sprites.

Actually I always turn battle animations off. I don't really care for them.

Graphics matter a lot, whether you appreciate them or not.

They really, really don't. So long as they get the job done, that's all that matters.

They're missing a lot of mechanics created in Gen III that we have come to expect from Pokemon,

Gen. 3 made a lot of improvements, but reverting to Gen. 2's system on its own would not make the game "garbage".

that and they would need a complete graphical overhaul.

Graphics don't matter. At all.

i think games should be compared to a universal standard regardless of when they came out

gold and silver arent worse games because they came out a long time ago and dont have the improvements made later on

but red and blue were just broken games at the start with a promises idea and a flawed execution
you know if gold and silver came out today they would be considered garbage

how do you figure

what's wrong with gold and silver
They're missing a lot of mechanics created in Gen III that we have come to expect from Pokemon, that and they would need a complete graphical overhaul.

4575
That doesn't mean you should feel obligated to enjoy them. Games do age, contrary to what some believe.  Some are timeless, others are not, others are improved through slight modernization (System Shock with mouse look).
I think you're confusing System Shock's contribution to modern gaming with Marathon's. System Shock's look system was good for the time, but less than three months later, Marathon set the precedent the industry is still held to today.

System Shock's major contribution is cited to be its innovative 3D rendering engine, which set the standard polygonal 3D environment games would be shaped by for the next decade.

Four years later, Half Life capitalized on these concepts and produced the first truly modern experience, and in my opinion one of the only games that still has as much playability as it did at launch in this pantheon of Legendary games that includes System Shock, Marathon, Arena, Fallout, Half Life, and other games that practically created their genres all over again.

Really this is a great topic, because a lot of these games deserve to be remade using lessons learned from other notewrothy games on the list.

4576
I really admire System Shock and TES: Arena, even though I feel the games are almost unplayable today.

The eternal question;

blow dryers w/ prep time

now hang on just a moment, how come jupiter isn't allowed prep time?
Jupiter's climate moves at an abysmal pace, so even with prep time it wouldn't be able to get ready for those.

It's a meme ya dip.

I know what escrow overage is, I've been employed in the financial sector before.
well, i'm just saying

what does youtube red get you, anyway? now i'm curious

i thought it was just no ads
You can also watch a bunch of premium videos like feature length movies for free, and you can use YouTube Music as a background app, like Spotify, or Pandora, but with all the content of YouTube.

There are some original series which I haven't seen yet, and you can queue videos to watch when you don't have data, or maybe you take the bus or train and you want to pass the ride watching a certain youtuber, you can just save the videos to watch later and they'll load on your wifi, and you don't need your data on the go.

That's the most useful part I think.

4584
Then I'll keep going to work to pay for my food, rent, and all the awesome benefits of YouTube Red (it really is super fucking great, along with Amazon Prime) and you can keep stroking your welfare check pensively.

Just remember that you elected to watch those ads, where we elected to pay for the privilege to skip them.
>welfare

it's financial aid for school, you stupid cunt

I let the ads play with I'm not doing school research and am short on time

I hate refreshing videos to watch them a second time only to be met with another ad

RIP Sandtrap

I want you guys to help me track him down.
I want to write a book about him someday.

I know, he really may be dead, but he was such an extraordinary soul, and we owe him at least a follow up.
I sincerely hope he pulled through.

Does anyone know anything about him?
Even the smallest scrap of information helps.

It's the moral solution to end all that suffering.
uhhhhh genocide isn't moral, you freak??????? hitler much????????????????????????
No, it isn't. But when you're left with two bad options, you have to go for the one with the best possible outcome.
