I don't.
Anybody who does is either delusional or an idiot by dint of being a dualist.
Well there is one semi-legit reason for people to think that.
What, dualism?
Sort of, but more scientific. Double slit experiments and other electron pathing experiments like it.

I've seen no credible evidence to suggest Hitler was atheist, if we're only going by his own words it's likely he was Catholic.
I'd try and find some but the computers in my college have pretty much any information relating to Hitler blocked on the grounds of "intolerant material".

Maybe you could try putting more emphasis away from Islamic fundamentalism? That's precisely why I mentioned the WBC in the same sentence. I certainly could have mentioned the Christian violence in the Central African Republic, or the Lord's Resistance Army or even the Buddhists in Myanmar massacring and committing pogroms against Muslims.
However, the teacher explicitly stated that we need to watch the news unfold regarding ISIS and their exploits in Syria. Not to mention, the entire course is about the tension between secular and religious authority, I couldn't steer clear of Islamic influences on secular society in practice let alone on principle.
Maybe it could have helped to leave another note that not all religious people are radicals? I'm more inclined to say that your teacher doesn't know what she's doing, but if you have to write another paper for her/him it might help.

Other times.. I feel like I'm in a interactive movie because the characters around me are either poorly scripted or poorly made.
Stuff like this is why I love Philosophy.
That isn't what philosophy is, that's just day dreaming.

Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and Pol Pot were all atheists and killed millions of people. I'm inclined to think there doesn't exist a single, murderous dictator that isn't atheist.
I don't respect you nearly enough to act as if you're serious.
Also, just as a digression, Father Tiso and Francisco Franco.
A few thousand killed compared to tens of millions is hardly the same. And the other guy is just slavik kebab, so we can rule that out as negligible.

Are al-Qaeda and ISIS trigger words in britbongistan?
Yeah. I mean, I don't want to end up like a Danish cartoonist, but apparently it isn't kosher to imply that such radical groups are, in any way, meaningfully Islamic.
Maybe you could try putting more emphasis away from Islamic fundamentalism? It might not be in popular media, but there's plenty of other religious terror groups operating all over the world. I don't have my terrorism textbook anymore to look up the names for you, but they have some in India and South America. Although with the latin religious terrorist groups they tend to be intertwined with the drug trade (surprise) which leads you to question if they're really an extremist group or if they're just criminals, but your professor probably won't know who they are anyway so it probably doesn't matter. Just an idea though.

Personally, no because if you look at China and other atheist countries, they're miserable and only really care about money and power.

"If you're old enough to fight for your country, you're old enough to have a drink."
Well except for the fact you're not allowed to drink in the military.

I'm going there Friday.
Oh joy.
I assume you're going to NYC?
Unfortunately. It's an Art Colloquium trip.
no matter how many tourists say how great the city is I still think it's a shit hole..
the smell aside, it just becomes annoying
I hate it. It's like the entire mid-east coast is one collective cesspool. I can't wait to get away from here to Seattle.
I wish I could travel more, from what I've seen of Seattle it seems like a wonderland
New York isn't actually all that bad when you take the famous city out of the equation
Yeah, it seems like it gets nicer the more north you go. It's mainly the NYC, Jersey, Pennsylvania area that is complete trash. But Maryland is nice, at least what I've been through.
I took a trip to rhode island last summer, the place looked like a commercial for Claritin clear
Yeah, like I said, New York, Jersey, and Pennsylvania are the trashpit of the east coast.
*Looks down upon filth from the glorious wealthy lands of Connecticut*

Let's have a thread about our worst experiences with teachers and professors.
I hate it when they put you to sleep.

I've met a few lawyers with Jewish sounding names. That's basically the same thing, right?
Lawyers and Jews?

The West has a problem with Islamics and Arabs, hardly the actual religion.

I wonder, if someone wanted to stay immortal then would a clone be considered as a legitimate replacement for the said person?
Just having the same genetics doesn't mean you're the same person. Experience is what makes you really unique. Take identical twins for example. Plus, you can't transfer your thoughts and memories onto a new brain.

How is it malicious?
The idea of the "mind" being higher than the material, and somehow more sacrosanct (due in no small part to the aforementioned dualism, as well as religion) has led to the stigmatisation of diseases and illnesses to do with one's emotional or cognitive well-being.
People, generally, are more apt to take medicine for ills of the body - such as for arthritis, muscle injuries, heart problems, et cetera - yet more shy to take the likes of anti-depressants or anti-psychotics. It is especially bad for illnesses like psychopathy, schizophrenia, borderline, or pretty much any personality disorder or psychosis. If that needs putting in perspective, think of the contempt some people who suffer from just depression have to face.
I was under the assumption that we're an over-prescribed society? I guess there are probably plenty of people out there who aren't able to understand that mental problems are just as physical as anything else and so they reject mental medicines. Wait what am I talking about, there are tons of people who reject modern medicine.

We don't recognize true responsibility because of its implications. Emptiness and meaninglessness aren't attractive concepts.
