I don't think non-radical feminists are under the impression that only females can be oppressed, just that they happen to oppressed more.

How the fuck do you even get banned here?
Shitposters always find a way. :P
Considering I've been banned for voicing my opinion, that's complete trash.

We'd like to believe the memory is stored in neuron cells, but there simply isn't any place in the cell where that would happen.

The individual neurons send a unique signal that, in series with other neurons, produce a unique combination resulting in memory recall.

What specifically does quantum mechanics have to do with any of it?
We're trying to figure out where memory is stored, correct? If memory is stored in neurons, why are there no organelles within the cell that perform that function? Maybe we just haven't discovered it yet, or maybe we're looking in the wrong place. I am by no means trying to force the idea down that quantum mechanics has anything to do with memory storage, but it could be a possibility.

The abolishment of the minimum wage would decrease public spending, at least initially, would it not?
Could you explain your reasoning?
That's a question, not a statement, Meta.

if we could apply quantum mechanics to neurology

I'm sure your efforts are sincere but this is the type of catch-all phrase thrown around by laymen that think one can just 'quantum mechanics' their way to any solution.
I don't think you're interpreting what I'm saying as deeply as I mean it to be. We'd like to believe the memory is stored in neuron cells, but there simply isn't any place in the cell where that would happen. At the same time, we don't believe it's contained within electrical pulses because it's possibilities to code for a wide variety of memories are limited. That is, unless, there is more information there that we've yet to look at.

3615
For quantum effects to govern memory, or anything mental really, aspects of the brain would have to behave quantum mechanically. A brain, hell even a neuron, quantum mechanically speaking is a very large system and(as far as we know) barring extremely low temperatures(fractions of a degree above absolute zero) large quantum systems tend to approximate classical systems, meaning quantum effects shouldn't play a role unless we are missing something insane.

OP you may be interested in Roger Penrose's quantum mind theory. Absolutely no experimental support for it, theoretical objections are similar to the one I raised but I thought I'd just throw it at you.
I wouldn't necessarily say that we're dealing with macroscopic quantum phenomena. In fact the point is that the quantum behavior is not obvious enough for us notice it. Could it not be possible that this particular function of the brain is partitioned off from the rest of the system, or at least confines its interaction with the rest of the system to a very small degree?

3616
Variable of the electrical impulses could be between what neurons they fire, and when they fire a new memory could be encoded onto a neuron(or group of them) by the characteristics of the impulse(or maybe even a series of impulses) that connects to it. How what would be "engraved" into the neuron could be 'read', idk. Don't we have people that study this for a living, why haven't they gotten anywhere yet?
I have no idea what you just said, but scientific research isn't what's known as "big money" so it takes a lot of time to study these things. You have to rely on people who are incredibly educated and willing to make a small fraction of what they could be making, plus the fact that most charity donations go to breast cancer.

3617
I'll dig up studies tomorrow if you want, but loosely speaking it's been documented that pregnant mothers who undergo a trauma/phobia causing event and still give birth pass on that fear to their child in the form of altering strands of DNA iirc. It's late so I can't remember it very clearly but I'll look for it tomorrow <.<

tl;dr

3620
How else would they be stored if not physically?
By 'not physically' I just mean that they're not kept in one physical location. I mean to say that the electrical pulses don't translate and copy onto some other format in neurons, as is widely believed. I think it makes more sense that the electrical signals bounce around clusters of neurons but never settle in one location. And while it is believed that mere frequency of electrical pulses is too simple to code for all our thoughts and memories (the reason people believe electrical pulses do not store our memories), I think that there may be more information on the electrical pulses that we have yet to discover. In other words, if we could apply quantum mechanics to neurology, we may find that electrical pulses carry much more detailed information than we currently believe. It's practical because there have been no unique cell organelles in neurons we've discovered that could explain how a cell could store information.

That's the only time I was ever linked to a post (and btw, that's a completely bullshit warning anyway). Every other time it's just left blank.

No one liked him. He is kinda like the stepdad that you put up with because your mom likes him.
Yeahhhh, you either really wish no one liked him or you have no idea what you're talking about.

I think it's called an RTS or something, but you build fortresses and armies and stuff. It's free and no download required too. We can band together too under a treaty so we're (more) safe from attacks. I just started playing today, so I'm not much of an expert, but I think it's pretty cool so far.

From Charlie's IP history, he didn't use a proxy and there's been no alt made that I can see. And yes, he did PM me when he left and I believe he was for-real about it.

How could you detect a proxy? Also, he did this on Bungie.net all the time.
For one, IPs can tell you where you are. For example Camnator, your IP tells us you aren't in Washington.

The Flood / Re: Harlow
« on: October 25, 2014, 07:36:29 PM »
Harlow suffers from delusions of intellect.
Probably the easiest way to put it. He's one of those assholes who legitimately believes they're one of the most intelligent people in the world. The majority of those who actually are that smart aren't anything like him. I wouldn't say Harlow is stupid, and Jay wasn't an idiot either, but they both thought they were far superior than they actually were.

Still, I have to admit that his management style kept Sapphire around for a long-ass time. Must have done something right. At least for a while.
He kept it in line with fear of having the wrong opinion. Most forums have a circle jerk, but his was locked down pretty tight, and it made everyone desperate to get in. Essentially it's his inflated ego that got his B.net reputation to where it is.

He thought he's the only one that could make jokes. If other people make jokes it is harassment.
I'm guessing he must legitimately have a problem with his penis for him to get that offended about it.
