Two.
Are you gonna pair with a lesbian couple or adopt?

Or, you know...surrogacy in general.
Never heard of that word

Serious / Another physics question -- Dimensions
« on: November 15, 2014, 01:21:30 PM »
Is it possible for 0-dimensional,1-dimensional, and 2-dimensional objects to exist? Obviously graphical representations don't count, I'm just asking about real-world things.

Also is time considered a fourth dimension? If you have time, it adds a whole other dimension of information you can include on a graph, does it not? (i.e. (x: 2, y: 4, z: 8, time: 400BC)). And if there is a fourth dimension, is there such thing as fifth dimension? What real-world form would that take?

Music makes you think, and you seem to be the kind of person who tends to have deep thoughts, and deep thoughts tend to be depressing.

Side question, but do you enjoy being depressed?

Offtopic, but what did they finally decide on for the power source?

A miniature fusion reactor apparently.

To think there's a child out there who's going to grow up knowing that everyone has seen her mom naked is truly a scary thought.

He's someone who I could vote for, but seeing as I disagree with my right to vote, I can't form an opinion on him.

IIRC she was about to be sued for a sex offense.

Quote
10. Koko the Gorilla: Koko the gorilla resides in comfort at Woodside, Calif.-based The Gorilla Foundation. Koko the gorilla has also been involved in a grotesque sexual-harassment case along with her handlers and their supervisor. Court TV reports that "former gorilla caretakers Nancy Alperin and Kendra Keller asked for more than $1 million in damages in their sexual discrimination and wrongful termination suit," which claims that the two women were forced to expose their breasts to the gorilla in order to indulge her fetish. Alperin and Keller maintained that they were fired when they refused to show their breasts to the gorilla, but they ultimately reached a settlement with the foundation.

Serious / Koko the gorilla has an IQ of 70-95
« on: November 15, 2014, 10:43:32 AM »
Her name is Koko (female western lowland gorilla, 43 years old), and she has been trained since birth to understand English spoken language and sign language. She understands 2000 English words and 1000 English signs and has been tested to have an IQ somewhere between 70 and 95.

Many psychologists (oh boy here we go) have claimed that she doesn't actually understand the meaning behind the signs and the words, she's just been conditioned to memorize the translations because she's rewarded when she gets it right, similar to the story about the horse that could do math. However, her trainor says that she does understand meaning because she's been documented creating new signs. For example, her trainer said that nobody taught Koko the word for "ring," but to refer to it, Koko combined the words "finger" and "bracelet," and came up with the sign "finger-bracelet".

Do you think there is actually a gorilla out there that is more intelligent than the average IQ in Pakistan or is Koko just conditioned to understand the translations and doesn't actually understand the meaning?

You can certainly beam energy, but I'm not sure about through solid objects like walls.

Although, that's perhaps more to do with our own proficiency at the task rather than physics.
Certain kinds of waves can hit through walls, like radio.

>implying anyone here knows shit about physics.

Anyway, let me answer your question with a question.

Have you ever seen a wireless phone charger?
Try hovering your phone above the charger and see how well it charges (it doesn't count if it's so close that you see a bunch of static connecting the two).

Serious / Physicists/engineers/mathy people, I have a physics question
« on: November 15, 2014, 09:54:19 AM »
A very long time ago when I was a fanboy, I was reading a Halo book and they were trying to figure out the best way to power the spartan suits, and one of the possibilities they came up with is beaming power. My question is if that's even possible, to beam power from one place to another (no wires, no atmosphere, just space). Obviously lasers exists, and lasers are just concentrated light, and light is energy, so in that sense it could work. But once Master Chief and the other spartans enter a building, there's no clear line of sight to receive laser power from a ship up in space (I believe the scientists in Halo didn't end up going with this method because they wouldn't be able to provide enough power that way). So here's the real question: Is it really possible to beam energy, through objects, to power a device?

I don't know why everyone thinks this is good news. Do you have any idea about what's going to come next? The gay rights movement is going to merge with social feminism and start preaching about impossible to solve social issues and all the other things that have made it unpopular.

I just read some of the articles on that site. These people are painfully stupid.
I'm sure we'd all cringe if we looked back on any of our political research papers we did in high school (college for you brits).

You're right, I haven't been.
Have you ever felt an attraction towards human beings, or just birds?
Ask your mom
What exactly is it about birds that you find attractive?

So wait, did you mix the liquid from B back into A?

If so the ratio of soda to water in A should be approx. equal to the ratio of water to soda in B, no?
If inversely equal... (but you already knew that I'm just trying to sound smart)

I was sort of thinking that too but Goji said it was complicated so I've been adding shit to this stupid equation that isn't fucking getting me anywhere.

'Don't like it, don't buy it'

And here I thought hyper-conservatives had a hard on for the free market.
It's funny because they have this same image on another spot on their site.

But you never know who's really right. Everything is technically subjective anyway.
