Gender is just a concept, Dustin.
Gender is a set of personality traits: masculinity and femininity. Your DNA alters your personality with different compounds to change your behavior. You cannot have a gender unless there is sex to base itself off of. Obviously there are going to be oddities, for the most part your genetics are what cause the relation of males being masculine and females being feminine. There is some social construct to gender, but it is based off DNA.
Hm. Perhaps I gave you less credit then. But then how could you explain a masculine female and a feminine male?
A very large percentage of males aren't masculine and a very large percentage of females aren't feminine, and only a small percentage of those actually feel to be in the wrong body. Gender is a set of personality traits but it does not encompass all personality traits. And as humans grow more conscious and intelligent, people are going to increasingly deviate from that norm which can explain transgenderism. It's unlikely that there is any evolutionary benefit to having members of a species want to be the other sex, I believe most of it is environmental. You can argue over how much of gender is genetic and how much is social but it's undeniably both.

I don't think I have ever talked to someone who legitimately thought rape was okay, so why these people are trying to say the whole of society doesn't care, or even endorses it, is just grasping at straws. Though feminism in general is just that: grasping at straws. I don't take the feminism class they offer here at UConn, but some of my friends do and they're literally taught how magazine covers that portray racy photos of women represents rape culture. You read that right: looking at photos of half-naked, consenting women is now considered rape by feminists, and it's all our fault because the women in the magazine covers are just victims of society's demands.
There are certainly some immoral things you can argue that society as a whole doesn't care too much about, but rape just isn't one of them.
