what did you do
Posted JTK. Scared him shitless. So now I'm apologising, though no matter what you do these fuckers will always have a problem with it -_-
Is JTK a real person or just a creepypasta?

Whilst I'm not going to say anything final over the semantics side as to whether XYZ image should be banned under what rule, Kiyo is to stop posting JTK to get a reaction out of you.

It's inappropriate for a mod to be doing this, regardless of any specific details.
Is it not obvious that SC isn't actually "deathly afraid" of that image and he's just pretending to be to get Kiyo demoted... again?
You don't know me very well, then. I nearly had a heart attack when that "Anna" alt invaded B.old. And when did I ever say I wanted Kiyo demoted? I just want her to either stop it, or the ability to mute her. Like I said, I don't want to be scared every time I scroll through my threads.
This is going to be added to the wiki

Not the picture, but...

What happened to "you have no life, you should kill yourself, everyone hates you, I proved you wrong" response?
I swear to fucking god I'll report you.

It has absolutely nothing to do with immunity from the consequences of other peoples' offense.
On the contrary, it has everything to do with not getting fucking murdered for anything you say.

It doesn't; that's covered under laws against murder.

This thread is a veiled strawman attacking the claim that not all speech can reasonably be expected to be respectfully tolerated. Charlie Hebdo is the easy case. Of course it's wrong to kill someone for a satirical comic, no matter how irreverent it may be. It's not such an easy argument when you realistically look at your own response to increasing degrees of offense.
I agree, but people should have some self control.

I guess it depends though. If my mom died in front of me and someone started mocking her I'd probably have trouble containing the rage.

Serious / Re: Should we stop Iran from getting the bomb?
« on: January 16, 2015, 02:27:58 PM »
Why shouldn't they have it? Should they not be on an equal playing field as many other countries?
No because that would directly limit the United States from projecting its power and influence.

How would it prevent us from projecting power?

I agree with them not having one, but this I am not sure about. It would certainly destabilize the region, but it wouldn't directly limit our influence. We have a carrier group near the Persian Gulf at all times, and various military bases in Kuwait for example, our projection isn't going anywhere in th region.
Yes, but a nuclear state essentially means that regime changes are completely out of the question, for the obvious reason that you cannot go to war with a nuclear state.

I have confidence in our military that we could stop a nuclear Iran with a single nuclear weapon from launching, and I bet our military leaders are to. Iran would be no where near as much as a nuclear threat as say Russia is, which has multiple ways of firing nuclear weapons, silos, mobile ballistic missile carriers, and submarines.

Regime change wouldn't be outside of reality either because they wouldn't use a nuke on there own country unless they have completely lost it. The people of Iran all don't agree with the extremist views of there leadership, a revolution would not be impossible.
Is it still not a risk to US dominance though?

Should they not be able to have similar weapons as their enemies?
No. Since when did we have an obligation to care about the moral position of Iran regarding warfare or subversion. I'm not going to let a regime like that of Iran's get nukes on the basis of 'fairness'.
And Iran would likely make the same argument against countries WITH them.

Why should we have them but they can't?
Let's break this comment down. You're saying that because Iran doesn't want other countries to have nukes that we ought to let them have nukes themselves? Yeah I'm really glad I purged myself of liberal idealism in which fairness supersedes all else.

Also I don't see why war should be completely off the table. The United States has been at war for the majority of its history. It's not like we've entered some new age where war is all of a sudden frowned upon.

Democracy in general is bad. I'd rather people know corruption exists rather than people believing democracy gives the people power when it doesn't.

But I'm just being contradictory, I fully support a government where the uneducated public doesn't have power. Our politicians may suck, but they're a better alternative to letting the people run things.

What we should do is try to mold them into an ally.
That's not going to happen unless you want to trade out Israel as an ally.

What reasons are there to have intellectual debates? Either you like to win arguments or you like to learn. But debating to win arguments is just stupid, because you never convince the other person anyway, at least 99% of the time. If that's your intent to debate, you ought to not post in Serious at all. Ideally, if you're debating then you're looking for interest and  for knowledge. And if that's the case then why exactly would you let the legitimacy of the arguer stop you from learning? Who cares if they are just playing devil's advocate, does it really hurt to have a different point of view every once in a while? Are your opinions really that easily threatened that you need as few opposing views as possible? Where is the learning there? If we all agreed on everything this would be an utterly boring and pointless board.

Further, "bait" is completely irrelevant to accuse a post of. "Bait" essentially means that you're offended by the post. And as far as I can tell, most people here look down upon people who look to limit speech because they're feelings are hurt. You think an argument has broken logic? Point it out instead of getting mad. And the next time you see that argument you'll know exactly how to confront it. The point is: learn, don't bitch, cry, and whine over something you're easily capable of handling rationally.

My two cents^

Nah, I heard the mods there are banhappy nazis.
Not really. Pretty much nothing ever gets caught because there's so much activity there. I once typed meatspin.com and a moderator edited it so the link didn't work, rather than banning me.
