Wow, that's.....a lot of snow
Actually. This year has been underwhelming for snow. Out in the field it only goes up to your ankle. I'm used to snow that goes up beyond your knees or waist.
Yea, we're getting nothing in Ontario :L
The snow you see in those pics was sitting there from early snowfall. After that it was just -25's and 30's all winter. We even had our token cold day were virtually anything moving outside was dead at -50 with a windchill.
Wow. Worst we had here was -25 C with a -31 Windchill. What you have is frigid.
I'm okay with one -50 day.
Last year we hit the coldest temperatures the province has seen in 40 years for a stretch of three days. -60 with a windchill. On one of those nights, I had to go outside. That is something I intend and hope never to do again.
Wow... My jaw is on the fucking floor right now... I don't even know what that would feel like.
I'll give you a description. I made the mistake of stepping out of my vehicle with no gloves on. I was out there for less than 120 seconds and when I came back in my hands were on fire for the next hour or so. It's so fucking cold that it burns. This year, I worked outside for about 3 or 4 hours helping to pull a friend out of the ditch in the late evening. It was on one the -50 day. I came back with second degree frostbite on my feet, hands, and face. I wore full arctic grade survival gear and I froze out there over the course of a few hours. But in -60 with a windchill. You freeze in seconds. You'd be dead in less than 20 minutes in that garunteed.

Those pictures remind me of my grandfather's place in upstate New York that he practically built himself. Has a garden for himself and lives mostly off the land. Makes me really crave for that kind of life because being all cramped up in these shitty suburbs and dirty cities just can't compare to this world's natural beauty.
I hear ya. I would never trade this. And the ideas that I have in my head, if set into motion, will make this place very special. Even more special than it is now. This kind of life certainly isn't easy. You get challenge no matter what direction you take. But arguably, it's more simplistic, less confined, and pure in it's special way. But you have to work for it.

There's so much land there. We live on about a half an acre I think.
I lucked out big time too. My uncle doesn't use this land because he travels with his job. He wants to keep it in the family name and I've been talking with him and he's going to sign the property over in my name. What I'm going to do from there is give the property to my mother, sub-divide roughly 10 acres of that land and sign it in my name so I can never be kicked off. There's enough damn space there that you could have a few home-steads and never even notice. And in this case, any home steads built there will belong to my family. So it's neighbors I can live with.

Fuck it. I'd roll with it.
Otherwise? Na.

Wow.
Such snow.
This is actually pissy snow. I'm dissappointed that when I go out there in the open field I don't have snow up to my waist like some years.

The boards are separate entities now. I went over there and did discuss stuff with them and got them to talk to Cheat but after that stuff just went dry. They're doing their thing, we're doing ours it seems.

How are to gonna heat the thang?
I'm going to rip out a portion of a closet in the motorhome and put a small woodstove in it. But I'm still thinking on that. Because the motorhome itself might one day travel. These machines rattle when they travel so everything has to be secured right? A chimney is not secure and no matter how well I did secure it, a hole cut into the roof of the motorhome with a pipe stuffed into it that will get hot is extremely hard to seal. But all roads point to a wood stove.

Awesome dude!
Hope its what you want it to be
I do have some time to think about what I want to make. The actual house itself, the motorhome, is practically finished. But the protective shed/house hybrid that's going to be built around it needs some thought. Which is why I'm looking at the land site now. When you look over the land in it's ugliest state in the winter, you get a good idea of two things. How nice your place will be when it gets pretty outside. And a good idea on sunlight in the winter. Sunlight is important in the winter and if you pick a side that gets little exposure it sucks. The more windows you have lined up with the sun the warmer you can keep your house in the winter.

Just an update here gentlemen. I'm going to shuffle my bones out and about tomorrow and I'm going to take some pictures of the site for you folks.
And, I suppose from time to time I'm going to wander in here and ramble to myself. I have a lot of ideas concerning how I'm going to build this and some of them will be worth remembering. So consider this a journal if you will.
Don't you folks worry. You'll get the pretty pictures soon enough so you don't have to read words.

That's why I don't understand folks. Yes, there are cops who end up as cops for the wrong reasons. They're there for the wrong reasons. And there's corruption.
But it's not present in all of them. And that bad apple effect happens as soon as one bad cop messes up. In a unified force that holds authority and a measure of power over people that effect escalates quickly. But I just don't understand why people are so quick to critisize cops, even the bad ones.
The bad ones may have started out decent. But let's face it. This is a task force of people, tasked with dealing with some of the ugliest shit humanity has to offer on a daily basis.
You can't tell me you're not going to get fucked up people when they've spent years under those conditions. The police in Canada here work a little differently, and they're more restrained in their actions for the most part. But they're a police force just the same, so the threat of waking up in the morning and heading out to face the potential ugliest shit humanity can produce would be nerve wracking.
But one slip up and they're all villains.

I'll just say chill. I get into internet arguments sometimes and just leave because I can't be bothered as it is ALWAYS a waste of both party's time.
See. That's what I can do normally. I can piss off and do something else instead. But I'm loopy right now. I'm irritable. I snap real easy. And it's getting harder to hold that back, and easier to fall into. Once I get started I just keep going and going until I burn myself out. I can't handle that stress right now. And the sensible thing would be to leave. But I have nothing to turn to. This place occupies my head and my time and I need that focus so I'm not focusing on the ugly shit in my head.
