The Flood / Re: Do you dislike sports?
« on: February 27, 2015, 12:56:50 PM »
I don't particularily dislike them. I just don't give a shit. And I'm not fond of the overemphasis placed on them. There's nothing wrong with sports if that's your thing. And there's even nothing wrong with some competition.

But people take it way over the top.

But the point is, as we stand now, there's enough room for people to live comfortably on the planet with 7 billion.
Overpopulation isn't about the literal size of room available so much as it is resources consumed.

We're not even overconsuming resources. We're just using them and wasting them in the wrong way. With our current numbers we can sustain ourselves but the problem is, resources are being wasted.

Things are built cheap, designed to break and wear down, be thrown away, and then replaced. Food is over consumed when we actually have enough to go around for generally everybody.

It's no different than british troops using the sphinx in egypt for target practice and blowing it's nose off. No different than the countless records and museums in germany and britian that were both bombed to pieces in the war. No different than mayan ruins being bulldozed over to make a road.

ISIS are just assholes, plain and simple.

Just throwing it out there. What were you expecting from such a simple premise?

"Hmm, Vex portal glitch is quite the detriment to humanity, obviously on the low end of the gene pool with the rest of the peasants."

*sips tea*

Honestly, in all due fairness, having to be the president of united states has to blow ass. Looking at Obama as a person, I think he's intelligent.

Maybe not regarding certain decisions made. But the man's no dummy. But imagine this. You wake up in the morning, and it's your job to manage the mess that is the united states. You've got some ideas, and you try lobbing them around. What happens? Congress cock blocks you. They throw a temper tantrum and shut down.

You try to do anything remotely good and the entire country has a heart attack. And, assuming you even manage to do anything decent, when your terms are up, you pack your shit and you leave, essentially leaving the door open for the next asshole to come in and dismantle what little you accomplished.

If I were in his shoes?

Fuck yeah I'd be taking taking trips around the world. Fuck yeah I'd be shoving over weddings to have a game of golf. What the fuck else could he really do at this point but not enjoy his time while it lasts?
He knew what he was getting into.

Knowing what you're getting into and staying cheery throughout the entire process are two different things. You can always know what you're getting into but it still doesn't cover your ass once you're actually in the middle of it.

I did a soul level 10 playthrough, balder knight cosplay with the balder shield and balder swag sword through the entire game.

Orenstien and Smough. Weeks. It took me weeks to solo them.

And then the four kings. I have nightmares.

Serious / Re: Human Overpopulation.
« on: February 26, 2015, 11:12:30 PM »
Absolutely. Putting everything aside, and using even a very basic example here, mob mentality. Mob mentality of course, is called as such because it's labeled after the phenomenon that happens when you get a mob of people.

The entire group of people, becomes singular. And they all act together in a singular goal, with a singular purpose. Destroy shit. Fight. Reasoning goes down the drain and at that point it's pretty easy to say that the average collective IQ of the group goes downhill.

Let's throw in another factor. Every human being has a circle around them. This circle is the upper limit to how many people this person can know and care about before simply, not caring. The average, absolute upper limit is 100. You can personally know 100 people in your life before after that, you stop caring.

Now. Toss in human empathic nature and our ability to spread memes. Not internet memes. We're talking real memes. Like yawning. Walk into a restaurant, and yawn. You'll notice other people will likely start yawning on noticing you. Or, if you want, try it with a friend. Yawn and make sure they see it. Chances are in a bit they'll yawn.

That's empathic connection and what we call a meme. It's a sub conscious action that we do without really knowing why. These factors translate on an emotional level. Put people in a room with a sad, crying person and other people will feel distress. Anxious.

Put enough angry people together in a room and you get a mob.

Put enough sad and stressed people together, and things really start to fall apart.

Take all of these factors, and do the math.

What happens in cities? What's happening with the internet? People are crowded together. They live, work, and struggle for space. It's stressful, aggravating. People are being thrown together with thousands of others and they meet and talk with thousands more across the internet.

Their personal sphere of people can't handle it. They stop caring.

Average collective group intelligence decreases because lets face it, the only difference between a mob and people living together in a city is the mood and mindset.

Personal spheres collapse, people don't care. Packed living creates stress, depression, sadness, which because of our social nature, is very, very easily transmited through a crowd.

My point here is, we're social creatures. We naturally tend to group together for survival. But there's a limit. I wager there's a limit before benificial effects start to go downhill.

I'm not saying that we should disband, or even try to disband cities. But they need to be restructured. The more people cluster together, the more unhealthy they become.

Currently, mathematically speaking, you could take all 7 billion people on the planet and drop them in the grand canyon together and they wouldn't even fill it. Of course, being that cramped together would be no fun.

But the point is, as we stand now, there's enough room for people to live comfortably on the planet with 7 billion.

We're just not doing things right. But I've got no doubt that as population increases, as population clusters, things will get worse. And if you want even basic levels of proof, just look at society today. You can't say that something isn't fucked.

All those people are gone now.

The Flood / Re: Due to the lack of ppl giving a shit...
« on: February 25, 2015, 11:35:19 PM »
This is primarily why I don'y buy into the whole youtube gaming crowd. A friend of mine is trying it out. And I've told him again and again that unless he kicks it up, it's not going to work. Here's the deal with youtube shit these days.

It's a fad. And everybody and their grandmother is trying to get in on it, especially since now the end all motivator came into play. Money. You've got millions of people to compete with, so many in fact, that the youtube fads aren't even about gaming anymore.

It's an actual business mindset that you have to play and get into. You, as a person have to stand out. You have to play to the crowds, follow the trends, and adopt a gimmick of sorts. It's exactly like a business. Except less cutthroat.

So my point here is?

Personally, I haven't watched many of your videos. I've seen a few, admitedly. But when I just scroll over one of your videos I have a tendency to pass it by. Because it looks dime a dozen to me. I could go onto youtube right now, and find half a dozen videos just like yours in a few minutes.

And I'm not trying to be discouraging here. But those are the facts. You've got millions of people to compete with, just like you. And you're either the creator of such good quality content that you stand out based off your dedication alone, or you adopt a gimmick and roll the dice.

Pewdiepie is swedish or some shit, screams a lot and appeals to the simple minded masses.
Markiplier is uppity, screamy, and has a lot of interaction with his fans.
And I'm sure you can spot the other tricks big names out there pull.

Honestly, the entire thing is roll of the dice. And not only that, but we come down to your original point. Nobody is doing shit.

And that, that's the true issue with this site in general. There are a select few contributors who are trying hard and that's fine. Good on them. But there's a distinct lack of drive, motive, and spark for this place to ever really accomplish anything.

So what can I say to you?

Cut your ties if they're pulling you down. Don't adopt a gimmick and roll the dice. Don't do it for the money. Do it because you love it.

Gaming / Re: Why aren't video game manuals awesome like they used to be?
« on: February 24, 2015, 11:20:13 PM »
They do. Call of Duty games don't, but I don't think the average IQ involved in playing Call of Duty considers the ability to read a few pages.

Damn I didn't even know they included manuals anymore. I thought they just phased them out entirely.

Few years back I stopped checking them out because I noticed their severe lack of content and figured, "Well, this is a trend that won't ever be stopping from now on."

I'm actually curious now. I'm going to check out the latest game I have and see what it has for a manual.

Oh. Okay somebody please tell me you remember these things. There was a big trigger grip. And a long ripcord.

When you pulled the ripcord, there was a thing sitting on the trigger that had something like helicopter blades with a circle around them. Pull the ripcord and they'd go flying. I don't remember the name but I know as a kid those were the coolest things.
oh shit we had one

And they weren't helicopters were they? They had super cool designs and the triggers matched them right? Stuff that got little kids all excited.
