How's the weather, wherever the hell you live?
Well, the weather in Los Gatos, California currently is.....

It's night, no clouds outside, 55 degrees Fahrenheit (about 13 Celcius), and it's a pretty typical night here. Well, it's honestly kind of warm, it usually dips down to around 45 Fahrenheit (about 7 Celcius), but that hasn't happened today.

Hey we're on par. We're reaching temperatures of 13 celcius in the daytime now. Currently -5c tonight. Saw some strange ass northern lights last night on my walk round town.

I can't tell you how nice it is to see dust on the roads and some fucking sunshine again.

I rather enjoy this particular idea of a thread. Rather than waste space making a thread of my own on a particularily pointless subject...I can post it in here.

I've been working more and more outside lately. Getting into physical shape again is actually coming along, if not somewhat hindered by various injuries. Ripped muscles up in my chest over my ribcage last week. Makes lifting, breathing, and moving arms painful.

But I surprised myself a couple days back. Blue industrial plastic barrels. 40 gallon barrels I believe, packed and crammed with small blocks of scrap wood to the top. I'm capable of grabbing the top rim and bottom rim and carrying a barrel around horizontally. I can't take a weight estimate other than, "They're fucking heavy."

But it's good to see that despite everything I've still the will to move so much.

Hauled six of them around a few days ago. Did more damage to my chest muscles. Strained my legs and arms and son of a bitch those ridges are hard on the fingers. But I won't let it stop me.

Whisper in the first Fable game. She steals all your kills when you're trying to compete for who can kill the most Hobbes. And then when she is your partner in the 2 person section of the arena, she literally does nothing except walk into a spinning blade trap over and over, forcing you to fight a 2 person arena challenge by yourself.

Slow Time and Magic Barrier are your friend.

My record was 49 hobbes to her 2.

I taught myself how to swim. I can tread water and dive.

But you will never catch me out on the ocean. Lakes? K. Puddles? Sure thing. Swimming in the ditch after winter runoff? You bet.

But ocean? Fuck that shit. 1 week a month isn't bad for a job. But fuck anything involving ocean travel.

Spoiler

Work in progress I've started. Started sketching out a concept and went from there. Adjusting some details as I go along. Frankly, I'm amazed I even got any semblance of a face I was acceptable of.

New storm troopers from the live stream

Figured to post them here since they may be in the new Battlefront.

They look like shit.

Is it just me, or are their helmets slightly oversized when compared to the rest of things?

You know what I wonder? If it was the internet itself that gave the means for the more outlandish trends to occur, or if it simply provided a voice for those who hid such outlandish things.

With communication comes connection and through connection you get trends and groups. Trends and groups tend to expand.

It's a curiousity. If the internet hadn't strayed into social aspects, I wonder what things, and by extension, people would be like today.

Ghost from Destiny

I still think they should have gotten Ahnold to do the acting.

I mean even if Arnold is bad acting he's still entertaining.

"Dat Wizhad came from da MOOON."
anyone could have acted the part better. but the what i hate the most was how shallow and useless the character was.

Perfect for Arnold then.

Your particular function is confounding. It's like you take the brakes off everything and type the first words that show up in some semblence of order.

I'd like to hope that you're not so scatter-fucked in person.

I guess I can't say that he's a character. But I fought the afflicted grave robbers solo in the crown of the sunken king on new game +3 in dark souls II last night.

There's three assholes.

A katana dex feg.
A feg with a greatbow.

And a fag in full havels armour. If you don't know what that is, just imagine armour in tank form.

He was the last man standing. I had no weapons to contend with his poise, no weapons to contend with his healthbar and take chunks out, without great risk to myself.

My lightening attacks tickled him.

So I decided to use what I had left. Poison. I lost track of the poison arrows needed to even poison him but a rough estimate puts it at around 12. So I'd wittle his healthbar down.

And then he'd taking a fucking sip of estus and heal himself. Gradually, thankfully not instant. But he'd outheal the poison I hit him with.

That character. That boss.

I think he was designed to reflect all the horrid players you can encounter in pvp.

Nig nogs forgot to take it down to -30 and -40.
mfw people are actually using my word.

Idk if I've ever seen the weather in Canada go down to -30. But judging by how cold it got this year, I think it's a possibility next year could reach that temp.

I worked outside in -43 this winter. Actually I wouldn't say work. Went out to save somebody's ass who got stuck in the ditch.

I got nig-nog from an old scottish friend of mine from xbawks live by the way.

Ya'll ain't riding the originality train here.
fuck. Nothing can be original anymore. ):

I'm sitting here. And I'm looking at your picture. And I realize that I'M NOT PRECISELY SURE WHAT THE FUCK I'M LOOKING AT. I get the point. Obviously, raising minimum wage won't solve anything. Money value changes in one corner effect everything else.

So where a guy would get 15 instead 10 and think he'd be earning more, the prices of everything else would be jacked up to compensate, resulting in the same end really.

Some poor ass mother fuckers. Love my terrible math/graph skills by the way?

Serious / Re: When does an analogy become too extreme?
« on: April 16, 2015, 08:16:11 AM »
You did state earlier, however, that analogies can be extreme enough to hinder one's argument. Could you give an example of that? Because if you don't consider my above example to be extreme (which is wonderful), I wonder where your standards lie.

Analogies should appropriately represent what you're trying to convey. If it's too extreme (or too weak, even), then it can fail to be an effective argument or imply you don't have a good understanding of what you're talking about.

I could say, "rape is like slavery because it dehumanizes the victim and removes their control over their body", and while some may find that distasteful, they'd still get the idea. If I said, "increasing taxes on the rich by 1% is like kicking down their door and robbing them at gunpoint", it might parallel the idea a bit but it's so exaggerated that it loses credibility and effectiveness as an argument.

Essentially it's a scale I guess. Too high and the point is skewed somewhat. Too low and the point isn't given enough reinforcement. Gotta find the middle ground.

Ghost in the Shell takes all your points.

And throws them in the garbage.
i was just thinking about how much i hated that garbage

lol

i mean yeah, it may throw his points away, but then you know what it does?
it introduce a whole fucking slew of new ones

that's the thing with anime
if it isn't one thing, it's another

And I mean, of course, it's anime. It's going to adopt traits from its point of origin. Flamboyant colours, relatively simplistic designs and such. Unless of course you're bringing up the community itself that appreciates the show and movies.

Or memes. I've no context here as to what exactly you figure is so particularily shitty. If it's the community, or memes.

Well, every community has a bad sect to it these days and absolutely nothing is safe on the interent these days anyway.

The only particular thing I've noticed with GiTS, especially the old TV series, was a bit of....fuck. Don't remember it the terms. It was the portrayal of women. Other than Motoko. Simplistic, uh, fuck. Sexualized. That's the best I can put it.

But other than that, I can't see much else. I mean the animation, both the older movies, and the TV series, did a good damn job. A lot of philosophical and moral points are brought up throughout the series and what's interesting and particularily frightening is that GiTS is within a feasible reality and future.

If you've points to make, then tell me cause I ain't seeing the bad stuff. Maybe I've my rose tinted glasses on. For anime, GiTS stands apart.

Am I the only canuck here who despite being overly sensitive to heat can still function through 30 degree weather that's damp, without relying for dear life on an air conditioner?

Or is it just my province? The respective shithole of Canada.
