Talk about good timing then. Glad you showed up when you did then I guess, right? My condolences though. Not that I can say much of value here that would do any good. But as far as circumstances go it's a good thing that you showed up when you did, both for you, and her.

So, eat shit with a chemical compound in it that makes it taste like chocolate or eat chocolate with a chemical compound  that makes it taste like shit?

Technically, the shit tasting chocolate is still chocolate and therefore the healthier option.

Second, chocolate can be melted rather easily, which means you could chug it and therefore have minimal experience actually tasting it.

Shit flavored chocolate is the obvious choice here.

Verb's got a "Verbatim Dislikes This" account.

I think he should make a Verbatim Likes This account.

That way, it would be Verbatim Likes This Likes This.

Just rolls off the tongue that one does.

I actually laughed at that bit. Seriously. Imagine that. They're so afraid that they might step on someone's cultural feelings that they boo somebody bringing up the issue of extremism most likely solely because the sentence and subject relates to a group of people.

I know very little about economics an shit, but surely everyone should at least have the right to a roof and basic food and water. I have no idea how much that costs and stuff, but shouldn't that just be basic?

I disagree. If you are over 18, you deserve nothing. You should be working for it (if you are able). The only people who should get benefits are the disabled and minors.

Back in the day if you didn't hunt for your own food or contribute to your village in some type of way, you'd starve. Thats how it needs to be.

Ya know, I can honestly say, at least you're a walking pile of discussion generation. Even if the conversation is one sided and will never really go anywhere I have to admit that you're good about keeping people on their feet or taking a conversation in unexpected places.

That being said.

Come on now. We should be a little more refined than that these days shouldn't we?

Just doing some thinking here, about the part where Murray talks about leakers doing damage that they have no idea about. His example, specifically saying something along the lines of "X foreign minister or president saying they hope Isreal bombs palestine" or something along those lines.

I can understand the point, of wanting to cover it up, due to foreign relations and tensions and all that. But on the other hand, I ask, why hide that?

Why hide under a guise of civility when really, there's none to be found? It makes democracy or any form of foreign relations completely and totally fake. And not only that but it's a lie. The only place a lie can go, is deeper down. The more you cover for a lie the more you have to dig a deeper hole until it doesn't make any fucking sense anymore.

I do understand that of course, those leaks led to various shitty outcomes for various reasons. But Murray's example there was kind of shitty.

As Verb would say, the cost of living should be zero. But, yeah, I'd agree. Even if basic neccessities were dirt cheap compared to everything else. The words alone, "cost of living" make me cringe.

Some pretentous fucks one day decided that life had to be more complicated than in actually was and that you were required to pay more than what you already do for simply being, and trying to stay alive.

Imagine that. The cost and price of living is one day dying. And somebody decided it'd be a good idea to add on top of that stellar cost by having people waste so much of their time paying for what should only come naturally. Stupid. Unfortunately, no Bacon. Houses aren't cheap and rents aren't cheap, depending on where you live.

Also, my apologies Meta. Not apologies, I guess, but condolences. I've gotten to know people who had altzheimers and watched them slip and progress into less and less states of awareness until they were no longer able to function on their own without being a danger to themselves.

I imagine dementia is likely a similar case. I've never had such a thing occur among relatives of mine. Just people I've gotten to know. The best that I can say is that I give you my condolences. I can imagine what it's like having to sit and watch, and being able to do nothing. And I'm sorry that's how it has to be, both for you to watch and for your grandfather to go through.

Even to people who're good with words, there's some things that can't properly be responded to. I can't even say anything in a cheerful manner like "best of luck!" or "I hope things go better."

But, as close as I can get to it, I understand what you're getting at.

That red hammer is actually a mace.

So therefore, make the money required to do so on top of having a secured home base to work off of. I know I sound like an asshat right now saying, "just do it," but so far in my life from personal experience I've proven to myself that if I need money I can find it, and I can do it quickly. Again.

Jesus, and you're saying I live in an upper class area? (Btw, I don't; I live in the deep south.) Like I said, unless you're old money, there's really no feasible way to buy a house with cash  outside of a very lucrative job, which you're probably not going to have away from urban centers. I'm not trying to shit on your dreams, I just want you to be realistic about your expectations.

I am realistic about my expectations because I've achieved them. I own land that's fully paid off and I own about 90% of a house already. All I need to do is find time to build it. And yeah, there is a way to buy houses with cash.

You keep your hears open for offers, approach the owner of said house, talk to them, and make them an offer. 10,000 dollars in cash makes a good bargaining chip for most people because it's instantaneous money. If they agree, you both sign a paper that's worded correctly, take it to a lawyer and verify it, and then sign the official paper.

Boom. You're a house/land owner without ever having a mortgage or setting foot anywhere with the banks save for property taxes of course.

And yeah turkey, I'd wager in terms of class everybody on this website is higher than me. I need to haul my clean drinking water from a well 30 miles away dude.

You don't get much more lowclass hick than that.

I'm aware that you can't just "buy a home now." It does take a little bit of planning. But generally, you try to get there as quickly as possible.
I really disagree with this. A house isn't going to pay dividends, send my kids to college, or pay for trips and hobbies in my retirement.

Quote
And no, you don't absolutely need a mortgage. A mortgage is just a rat-trap. I'm not saying that they don't have their uses but it's not an impossibility to buy a house without using a mortgage. That's another thing I tend to operate on.
Quote
No credit or loans. If you can't buy it yourself in cash then you don't and shouldn't be going after it in the first place.
It is highly unusual for someone that has no made significant investments into retirement to be able to pay for a house with cash. Unless you were born with money, it doesn't make sense to let $500,000 (or whatever) accumulate in a savings account or money market. You'd put it into stocks or an IRA and then you can withdraw that in retirement and then eschew a mortgage.

Quote
The sooner you have a home that's yours, that's paid off, the more secure your future is. That should always be your number one priority.

Again, I really disagree. Real estate can be a very risky investment, and it's dangerous to think that once you have it paid for that you're secure, especially if you're not prepared for loss in equity or property taxes.

As I said Turkey. You're a person who likely lives in a higher class kind of area with a different set of standards to live by. We've got different perspectives on things due to our respective environments. I can't say I can ever see why securing yourself with a home base first is a bad thing.

But then again, it comes down to taste as well. I would never spend 500,000 dollars on a house. Prefferably, I'd make the thing on my own. And, yeah, you are right, a house isn't going to pay dividends and send your kids to college, or pay for trips to where you want to go.

You are.

So therefore, make the money required to do so on top of having a secured home base to work off of. I know I sound like an asshat right now saying, "just do it," but so far in my life from personal experience I've proven to myself that if I need money I can find it, and I can do it quickly. Again.

We've different lifestyles is all.

The hitchhiking robot called HitchBOT set out on the American leg of its world journey two weeks ago. It couldn't move on its own and relied on kind strangers to drive it from place to place. But after successful trips in Canada and Europe, HitchBOT was found damaged beyond repair in Philly on Saturday

Only two weeks into an attempt to travel across the United States, the friendly hitchhiking robot's journey has ended in Philadelphia after being beaten to a pulp.

HitchBOT, who was created by a team of communication researchers from Ontario, was found damaged beyond repair early Saturday in the city of brotherly love. The robot set out to travel cross-country after successfully hitchhiking across Canada in 26 days last year and parts of Europe.

My personal believe on this, is fuck waiting. Do it now. The sooner I get a place up that I'm comfortable with, that is my space to both live in and enjoy, the stronger my future security will be no matter what happens to me.
You can't just buy a home now. It takes decades to pay off a mortgage, and then you have property taxes and upkeep. It's just not feasible to think you can accomplish such a goal without planning for it.

I'm aware that you can't just "buy a home now." It does take a little bit of planning. But generally, you try to get there as quickly as possible.

No credit or loans. If you can't buy it yourself in cash then you don't and shouldn't be going after it in the first place.

It's important to note here though, we're straying onto different fronts. I understand it's not exactly a parrallel to repeat in a place like a city because of the high expenses and the fact that most people don't own their houses these days what with mortgages and all.

But my country's economy and my province's divided and half-old timey population allows me to take full advantage of things that you can't so easily do in a city. All the same, my point still stands.

The sooner you have a home that's yours, that's paid off, the more secure your future is. That should always be your number one priority.

Nothing in particular really. I tend to learn things as I need them. I guess you could just say a jack of all trades. I already know a little bit about concrete work. Woodwork and lumber based around house building. Mechanics. Plumbing. Have a few big university grade books on electrical engineering I want to look at in due time.

The more I know the more I'll be able to do for myself as well as for others. If there's such a thing as a proffessional all rounder I guess that's where I'm headed.

Nice one Verb. Seems solid to me.

On the issue with the gravity gun though. I don't think there's a real concrete answer out there, but the puzzle pieces are all there for players to figure out. The gun uses a crystal I believe and when you pass a current or charge through it you get the gravity gun.

The combine energy field you walked through that toasted your weapons was absorbed by the gun and given a boost of roids essentially. Given what we know in the series, this isn't really uncommon because the residence cascade in the first game was caused by hitting a crystal with a charge of electricity or other particle.

It's never bluntly stated but the pieces are all there. Reactive crystal absorbs different forms of energy and does neat shit.

Serious / Re: Teachers who who say gay marriage is wrong are extremists
« on: August 05, 2015, 02:05:05 PM »
Well.....technically couldn't you call it extremism? Borderline at least. Think about it. A teacher drills it into their students that gay marriage is wrong.

That's another generation of fucked up kids belonging to a fucked up society. It's not the same as blowing yourself up for your cause or attacking non believers and stuff like that, but at the same time, couldn't it sort of fit in with something along the lines of passive extremism or second hand extremism?

Teachers whether they see it or not hold a lot of power over their students based on what they teach and practice. And, let's say that some of these kids grow up to really hate the whole homosexuality train and turn into extremists themselves? They beat or kill, for example.

That teacher played a part in it indirectly.
