You assume we have a tree strong enough to not snap like a twig when we pull on it. This isn't some little wee school bus. Although, we have considered using my motor home as an anchor point. The old beasty is probably around the same size and weight, and has a lot more going for it than the poor old trees.

Well, then I guess there's not much more we can do about that then can we? To be fair though, you could describe any riot as planet of the apes. The only thing that's ever gone around in riots is rampant stupidity and a chain reaction through people instigated by an aggressor either legitimately or artificially. I remember watching the riots in British Columbia over a hockey game once. You could easily have called something like that planet of the apes.

For starters, I had no real intent of accomplishing anything with that statement. Just tossing it out here is all. Some humor is all. But, one could argue that my point still stands. A person could say something, or make something, and somebody else could call them a racist for it without seeing the whole picture. In some backwards way, the aggressor is partially racist for automatically attributing something to the people they're trying to defend. Granted, there are words and statements that have had, and still do carry more weight behind them which could offend people quite easily. Anybody who uses these not in any racial regard should at least be ready for the misdirected flak that will no doubt arrive on their doorstep.

You know, technically it's not racism since we are a part of the primate family, and technically we already are all over the world. So in that regard, you're the racist for automatically assuming that the OP had racist intent when he said planet of the apes. The first thing you thought of when you saw the end of the link was, "Oh no! OP is being racist because black people!" You are potentially more racist than the OP. You're like, a passive aggressive racist.

Gentlemen, tomorrow, or potentially the day after, I'm going to be undertaking an interesting job. A friend of mine has acquired a bus. A tanky, old, medium sized school bus. For starters, a lot of things in the area have to be moved to accomodate it. And then we're going to go inside, and cut apart the 40 seats that consist of the inside to lighten it up. But the real challenge comes with moving the bus.
The bus has no tires, no hubs, or even any parts to latch onto underneath. And that means we get to do things in an interesting manner. Pushing, pulling, or rolling this damn thing off the trailer it rests on, while keeping it stable. For this, we're going to be hauling some handy telephone poles around and seeing what we can do with some good old fashioned manpower and levers, minus the small crane that set the thing down on the trailer in the first place.
Any of you folks wan't pictures of the event?
Assuming we can pull things off, it'll make a nice greenhouse.

Canada was instrumental in helping the US that day. After the attacks, all airborne planes were ordered to be grounded, and many foreign flights were not cleared to enter US airspace, forcing them to land in Canada. Because Canadians are so awesome, they let US flights land in Canada, and many Canadians even took in the stranded Americans for a few days until they could get home.

Remember, these things grew to roughly the size of a fucking car. And they had an exoskeleton like most insects. Something that size with an exoskeleton probably would have been pretty damn sturdy. It's no wonder it had no predators.

I woke up in the morning and was getting ready for school, and I remembered watching the news. I don't know if it was a country wide thing across Canada, but the school I went to had a big schoolwide gym meeting and a moment of silence for those folks.
I was in 3rd or 4th grade I believe. I ended up coming home later and watching the news to see what happened later on in the day.

Hmmm...Arthropleura might have been a good zoo animal. Herbivorous with no natural predators meant they would probably have been gentle. Great for the kids!

Millipedes are quite likeable. They don't do much besides eat dead plants.
Also, Sandtrap, many millipedes can excrete a foul-smelling toxin when threatened. It is quite capable of killing other creatures if ingested.
Last I heard people didn't eat millipedes on purpose. Meaning their toxicity is an almost non existent threat to humans. Whereas Centipedes are by default. The only millipede that might ever pose a threat to people would be Arthropleura, because they grew to the size of a car. But they're extinct now, so there ya go.
