The Flood / Re: Nightmares« on: September 03, 2014, 08:47:15 AM »
Very, very rarely do I remember my dreams. There's gaps in years that I remember them. The only nightmares I remember are the ones I had as a kid.
And they reyplayed, over and over, for years after. Four years of bad nights. 11103
The Flood / Re: What's the shittiest start to the day you've experienced?« on: September 03, 2014, 08:42:50 AM »
One of our cats died in the night, and I found him when I woke up to go to the bathroom. I moved the couch to get him, wrapped him up, and put him in a box, and stayed up all night until my mother woke up. I never told my mother the full details about what happened, because from the sounds of it, he didin't go out peacefully. Hemmoraging somewhere in his brain and elsewhere caused something like a seisure until he died.
Second was just under a year ago. One of our oldest cats passed away. My mother found him this time, so I woke up to the bad news. At the very least, he went out peaceful. Laying on his back stretched out like he'd normally like to sleep. And the third, is something I blame myself for. Another one of our older cats passed away a few months back. The cat was built like a big solid brick but lovey as could be. And I spotted something off about him one day. A little inkling in the back of my mind told me to mention it to his caretakers and that they should get him to the vet. I dismissed it. Four days later they rushed him off to the vet when things became noticeable and it was too late. He'd gotten into a fight with some critter and somewhere along the line one of his lungs was breached and infected. His body cavity filled with puss and other shit. He died not long after the operation to help him out. And the fourth is not sad, but I remember it because it was a day that I felt utterly defeated on. It's 5 o clock in the morning. I'm in work gear, hardhat and all, and the boss says today we're working in the basement. The basement, at this stage in construction, is a mud hole. One boot down there and you sink up to your knees in mud. So I'm trudging though this fucking mud, keeping my head down, but not low enough, and I smash my head into an iron beam. The helmet absorbs the impact, but you can still feel it along your neck, like whiplash. At this point, I wanted to call it quits for the day. But I walked forward anyway, past the iron beam, ducking lower this time. Then I smashed into the second iron beam anyway. 11104

They make a good combo. Chief says the one liners, Arby provides the non brick super soldier personality. 11105

So basically what you're saying is, the next time somebody's giving shit to an introvert for being "socially retarded," said introvert or passerby could technically argue that it's the introvert's right not to talk much if they so choose?
Yeah, I can dig that. 11113

You want to summon Solaire for the fight but you don't want to waste your precious spells to kill the sentinels that draw his attention and injure him before the fight. Or, you send your best spells at fatass sumo god and his fucking hammer negates them. Or, you just aren't having a good time keeping sumo god away from ogrestien so that you have enough time to hit one of them. Basically, this sums up the time you're having. YouTube 11114

The Flood / Re: This makes me sad« on: September 01, 2014, 02:07:17 PM »
Hey, cheer up bud. You've got more going for you than I do. I'll tell you a little story while I'm at it. I traveled with a friend once. I came along with him just for the sake of it. And he was helping another friend in the province to buy a boat. My friend knows a lot about boats, spent a lifetime working on them.
So, there's me and my friend, and this other guy, a good friend to my friend. He's retired, and compared to us, quite wealthy. And all three of us were walking down the docks. Two of us are poor as shit. Literally no money in our names. And then there's this guy, with 500,000 dollars in his wallet to spend on a boat. And you know what? To the people on those docks with yachts and million/billion dollar boats, that man with 500,000 dollars worth of retirement savings was nothing. To them, he was a joke. And if that man was a joke, what were me and my friend? If that man with 500,000 was nothing to them, what were we? I know I'm not cut out for anything grand. I dropped out of highschool at grade 10. I know my life won't ever amount to anything spectacular. All I'd like is a home to call my own, and to do the very best I can to take care of those around me. And I admit, some days it's depressing. Every single person I know, has left this place. Traveled to the great cities beyond. Traveled to universities, achieved degrees, started families. I talked to a friend just a few days ago who now owns an entire division of a big big company in the city he lives in. And here's me. I haul wood all summer and I do the best I can to work towards the future for my family, and work like mad non stop, for nothing other than the fact that we have security for what's ahead, a few months from now, to a few years from now. Any money I make evaporates into dust, no matter how hard I try to hold on to it. Compared to every person I mentioned, to them, on the scale of things, I am nothing. But that doesn't change the reality that I have my own life to live, my own fight to continue fighting, and the will in my bones to keep going. Be proud of what you have, no matter how small it is. 11126

The Flood / Re: Tis an odd night, AMA« on: September 01, 2014, 02:44:47 AM »I am just not a chatty person. Only one person has gotten me to open up more. Normally, neither am I. But once, very rarely, am I scrambled. I'm incapable of functioning on my own, writing, or working on whatever it is that I do. I'm restless. Guess if nobody's going to talk, I've got to tire myself out. Time to run until I drop. See you folks whenever. 11128

The Flood / Re: Tis an odd night, AMA« on: September 01, 2014, 02:11:17 AM »What's wrong with the average person? Nothing at all. 7 billion people is quite a bit. Defining average or normal can't be done between 7 billion people. There are so many variables and quirks among people, that ironically, whatever you do is normal for a human being. There are so many quirks, so many variables, and so many of us, that they occur between more than one person, but not all of them, thus making every possible variable a normal thing for humans. So, if that's the case, then technically, you could say a lot is wrong with the average person as well. |
