What is true civility anyways? And by definition there is no society that places the individual above the collective; otherwise the society would be useless and meaningless, and you would have total anarchy, a state in which the individual is, by the laws of the definition of anarchy, considered more important than the collective. The pesky thing about humans is that their social tendencies will, at that point, cause them to form groups with rules, and then you have society again. Civil society? Maybe not. But I'm not sure what you think of as civil anyways.

I mean Demons Souls alone makes the console better than the Xbox 360
I want to love the Souls series but . . . I can't. That should tell you enough about my tastes to disregard my opinions. ;P

Meanwhile, the PS3 had . . . Journey and Katamari.

Those were the only games it had that I liked. :P

Why did Dust 514 have to be so terrible?

This'll probably make you guys laugh harder then. On the 360 I really enjoyed:
-Ace Combat 6
-Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
-Dead Rising
-Mass Effect

And Halo 3 just held and continues to hold a lot of importance to me. Too many memories with family and friends, plus all the friendships I made at the time that survive today.

Meanwhile, the PS3 had . . . Journey and Katamari.

tbh tho i've never been a breadth-first sort of gamer, and halo really was just that big of a deal, not to mention ace combat and banjo-kazooie had prior significance to me while the others had to find another way to get my attention, and i didn't much like a lot of the supposedly good games on either platform.

halo alone made the online fee worth it though, god. holy shit that game was the bomb.

just my personal opinion

Personally I got a lot more out of the 360 than I did the PS3. That may be due to my taste in games though. Nothing can, in my heart, compete with Halo 3.

I dunno what that really says about girls in hijabs that it doesn't say about folks with crosses around their necks. I think Muslims have proven themselves to be able to be secular/modern enough in the scope of first-world countries. My experiences with those in hijabs has been that they can be secular as all hell and just be demonstrating a "casual" adherence to religion comparable to the typical American Christian.

There's actually a girl in a burqa in one of my university classes, but I don't know her personally so I can't comment on her religiosity. All I can say is that, in terms of fashion, secular hijabs and burqas are pretty neat.

Slaves would much further benefit the United States in the long run. Especially if in the future human cloning become legal. Cloned slaves, who's work would greatly outhow the cost of production. Human society would skyrocket to new level of utopia.
On what basis is this considered a utopia? You still haven't indicated to me the source of your values. It is not a fact that the activity of the economy is the ultimate measure of human value and the sole determining factor of right and wrong. That is just an opinion and is probably emotionally derived, unless you can demonstrate otherwise.

(Also imo AI will be the workhorse of the future, not clones, which have to be produced, are relatively inefficient in energy usage and work, etc.)

It is a biological flaw that should be purged from the human race tbh fam. Same goes with homosexuals. They serve no true purpose to further human society except take up space and resources where it is not need. If you can't reporduce, then why bother?
I thought you liked the economy? Just look at homosexuals as surplus labor. No, they don't make more of themselves, but you can still use them in the economy. Do you just want to kill them? That would shrink the economy. :S

It will bring out the best results to not have emotion involved. Imagine how much the human race could accomplish if emotion wasn't a factor in decision making.
So if we operated off of Sociopathic principles?

Imagine if the United States still had slavery as a labor force. We'd be able to achieve and thrive economically much more. (just look at China, which is a small gap from slavery)
Why does thriving economically matter?

>Being ths dropdead retarded.
No answer? Come on. Entertain me. Are you afraid to stumble into a trap or something?

Look at Greece.
What about it? Do you not like what Greece is? Sounds like a pretty emotional evaluation to me. Or from what universal rulebook did you derive the notion that the state of Greece is not an ideal one compared to the US or China?

And besides that, to humor your position, just look at the US. We treat our people much better than China does, we have fewer people, and we still have a higher GDP and GNP. Clearly the "emotional" decision to not enslave people has not worked out for the US.

So you can't accept that you are a born male. Why are we then expected to accept you, when you can even accept your biological gender?

That's like saying you're a magical pony instead of a human. But then you say you accept that you think of yourself as a magical pony. What you need to do is accept yourself as a human, and not a magical pony. You will never be a magical pony. It doesn't matter how much surgery you get to make yourself look like a pony. You will alway be a human. A freak of a human, but a human nonetheless.

Double standards tbh fam.
Holy shit you're pretty dissonant in the brain if you can't even consider this in the context of your own priorities. Consider that if a gender dysphoric individual is as fucked up as you think, they will not be able to contribute to the economy as effectively as normal people are. If you do not make strides to help/accept them, their condition will worsen and they may even become economically useless by killing themselves. Otherwise they just don't operate at an efficient level because of what they have to deal with.

In the interest of the economy, should we not humor them? Considering how large a portion of the population they represent?

I'm still not sure what we're supposed to base our arguments on then if the premises are not allowed to relate in ANY way to happiness.
Research showing that the current treatments for Gender Incongruence result in the best alleviation or elimination of side effects arising from it, including MDD and BDD.

Depression doesn't preclude happiness; it involves a chemical or logical imbalance in which empty or negative feelings outweigh the positive.
I have stated numerous times in this thread that research shows transgenderism to be an effective solution to dysphoria. I cited research and statistics, yet somehow because it demonstrates that decline in depression my argument relates to happiness and is therefore invalid.

I agree with you on every point but according to these people that argument is not allowed within the scope of this thread. I understand that depression is a physical phenomenon that causes a negative trend in feelings; however, since evidently we are arguing something concerning these feelings and happiness, this is not allowed here.

Again, I agree with you. This is for everyone else that says that an argument without any sort of emotion attached to the premises should be able to demonstrate that transgenderism has a purpose.

"Nobody's getting hurt and gender dysphoric people are less likely to off themselves."

Bam. Easy. Only assumptions are that nobody should be hurt and that preventing depression/suicide is good.
Depression and many of the effects of gender dysphoria deal with emotion, and that opinion is, thus, answering the question based on a certain emotional standpoint.
Well no shit, but again, how else would you proceed with making a judgement as to what is right or wrong? If I can't consider the number of gender dysphoric and transgendered people committing suicide (removing utility from society at large), can't consider their status in depression . . . what else is there to weigh?

This is some silly fixing of bounds. Challenger was onto something when he decided human happiness couldn't be a factor in proceeding with the rational process in this thread. I'm still not sure what we're supposed to base our arguments on then if the premises are not allowed to relate in ANY way to happiness.

Is there even such a thing as a 100% logical moral argument? You have to start with some set of axioms, and emotion, I think, always comes into play there. Are more humans or less humans better? Is happiness or sadness more important? More suicides, or fewer? How do we determine which is right and which is wrong based on our observations? A value judgement always comes into play.

In any case, I still think challenger is deluding himself if he thinks it's not worth it to socially accept transgenderism because we might find a better solution to dysphoria in the future. His complete lack of regard for demonstrated effectiveness in the statistics is completely illogical. There is no logical argument against transgenderism. The only way you can come to a different conclusion is to begin with a different set of axioms.
