I just got the email today that basically said to remove all ads from pages containing any of the following: - erotic stories or descriptions of sexual acts
- sexual jokes
- erotic or sexual forums
- sexual or profane terms in the URL
- crude language or excessive amounts of profanity
So we're in some deep shit, since I'm not a fan of restricting your language (the nudity will have to go, though, for those of you posting in the thread in The Flood). We have 3 days to resolve the issue or they'll stop serving us ads and leave us up a creek. I suppose I'll start looking for some alternatives while thinking about how to get out of this jam. EDIT: Guys, I need everyone to start reporting posts that contain nudity and porn. You won't be banned for the content that is reported, but the images and links need to be taken out. EDIT: I've disabled thread replies from being viewed by guests. This should help us keep our advertisements; just make sure to make the OP relatively clean, guys.

Mr Psychologist and Lord Commissar have both been promoted to Ninja status and their posts are now a hot orange color (ok, it's really more of a salmon, but come on).
They're not Master Forum Ninjas, like the original trio that you're probably familiar with. Forum Ninjas cannot ban, but they can most certainly mute other members temporarily with the new warning system. They're also afforded lock, sticky, move, and delete powers.

I've just set up a warning system for the Ninjas to use instead of outright banning misbehaving members. It's got varying flavors of "Fuck off" including verbal warning, post moderation, and post mute. These states decay over time and cannot be set permanently, so breathe a bit easier.
If you happen to get warned, you may or may not receive an automated PM with the reasons for your warning/restriction. I don't have it set up to have Disembodied Soul sending the PM, but I am working on that and hope to have it functioning in the near future.

IWHBYD.netIt's another one of my programming projects that I whipped up in a weekend. Basically, it shortens URLs and allows you to create text-based web pages (go to the site and click custom page at the bottom). If blinding white isn't your speed and you want to use the site to post your fanfic to or something, then go edit your page and enter in cheatyinyang into the URL field. As long as your password is correct, when the page refreshes you'll have a nice dark color to work with. Just something for you guys to chew on if you'd like. I'd also like some suggestions/bug reports as well.

I just got an email back from support about the issue with the slow load times and the error message that I thought I had to share with you guys (in part). I'm not experiencing the error anymore and the load times are back to a reasonable speed, so I thought I should share it with you. Thank you for contacting support,
First off, nice looking forum. I was able to get a small reprieve from work by enjoying the content of your forums for a few minutes while testing the load times and speed. Everything seemed find from this end. I will say that because of the server issues we were experiencing it very well could still be related to that. If the issues are not cleared up by tomorrow we can continue to look into this further. One of the best ways to get something resolved, if our call queues are not too high, is to call in and speak to a live technician when you see these problems occurring. If you can see these problems, there is a high possibility you will not be the only one they are happening for. If our technician sees the problem they will be able to trouble shoot further. Again, since we did have an issue with the servers I would give it a little more time to see if it returns to normal, as that may be all the trouble shooting needed. I work tomorrow, and if this is not taken care of by the afternoon, when I work, I will personally look into this for you further. (I am also going to check out Fate/Zero as I am genuinely interested to find new things to watch)

Before we vote in some new nameplates (including those awesome Reach ones) we need to clean house a bit and purge the old, underused plates to make things a bit nicer to look at in your nameplate inventory. So we'll be voting on about 5 or so nameplates to be removed. Please click here and check out the nameplates we have. Some of them are not public plates (admin, mod, pestilence, etc.) and others are unlockable or are otherwise important (ditto, sep7agon, etc.) and are not up for vote. Once you have picked a few plates (2 or 3) you'd like to see gone, post them here.

 Click the "Sep7agon" banner up at the top and you'll see the brand new additions to the forum. Posts are pulled from the Updates board (soon to be renamed News to match with the top menu) and previewed for all to see when they arrive on our shores. Soon we'll start accepting reviews, news articles, and other good reads. For now, just sit back and pardon the sawdust while I make this bitch fit correctly.

I've submitted a ticket to my host about the sudden slowness of the forum (it can get horribly slow) and I should hear back within 24 hours. By then the problem might be fixed, but whatever... I apologize for the inconvenience but there is currently an issue with the server itself. Our administrators are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Currently, the admins do not have an exact ETA, but these issues are generally resolved within 15-45 min.

Have you guys seen this? I promise you that the screenshot is legitimate; I've only cropped it.  For Context This guy complained in #gaming that the forum was overflowing with Destiny posts, which was kind of stupid considering #gaming is for every game besides Destiny. The thread complaining about the Destiny threads was moved to #Community, and the complainer basically went rampant and called the Ninjas incompetent for moving his one thread but not doing anything about the Destiny overload. And then DeeJ banned him (or at least everyone assumes it was DeeJ).

I believe I have the ignore/mute feature working now. Ignored users will have their posts wrapped in a spoiler tag.
Profile >> Modify Profile >> Buddy/Ignore List
EDIT: Admins and Mods are immune to ignoring/muting, of course.

Gaming's population is very weak (less than Serious, and Serious was added a bit after the other boards), so should we just obliterate the board and move all the threads into this one? I just want to see where everyone stands on this; comments are helpful.
Note: An official Destiny thread could be pinned here to limit "Desticles" from encroaching on your space if this happens.

We need to do something to draw some more (quality) members into our little group, and like one individual said (which I forgot about until someone else said the same thing) we could do a sort of blog/review/news section of the forum and add it to a front page for visitors to see when they land here.
Anyone interested in this? Anyone have another good idea to bring in new recruits?
